An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 77 - 77: The unexpected turn of events. (2)

Aaron narrowed his eyes. Ten minutes back he had seen Austin leaving the room and coming back with a box. So, he knew the package he was expecting has arrived.

It was time for the show.

Rachel after taking a deep breath, opened her mouth to answer with a determined gaze but was immediately cut off by Aaron.

"Allow me, please."

He whispered to her, patting the behind of the hand to ease the uneasiness.

She didn't know what he was up to but nodded anyway.

He smiled at her with satisfaction before facing the reporters.

"I would like to show you all something."

He gestured Austin to handover.

Austin frowned.

'What should I give? The box?'

He took out a small box from the package and passed it to Aaron, suspiciously.

After receiving the box, Aaron carefully opened it to reveal two certificates.

All the curious gazes were now fixed upon him.

"What could it be?"

One of the reporters whispered to the other.

"How in the world would I know? Even I am sitting with you all from that time."

The person hissed back with annoyance.

"Why are you getting pissed? I am just curious."

"You think I am not? I'm about to die with curiosity!"

"What could it be? More pictures? Or proof for their affair? Are they going to deny it?"

The poor reporter just couldn't shut his mouth.

"Shut your mouth, will you? Now, concentrate!"

The reporter pouted.

Aaron opened the certificates, showing it to the reporters.

Beside him, Rachel felt her world collapsing.

"Our marriage certificates."

Finally, Aaron put a bomb on everyone.

"Pfff!"

A reporter who was drinking water at the back spurted a mouthful onto the person sitting in the front.

He clamped his mouth with horror. He had expected the other reporter to screw the hell out of him but to his luck, the person didn't even flinch.

The person was too stunned with the shocking news that he didn't feel the water on him.

All the reporters including Austin and Rachel fell silent, trying to digest his words.

"What are you saying, Mr. Lee?"

Thankfully, a reporter came back to his senses and raised his question.

Aaron wasn't in a rush to explain. He leisurely picked a glass of water and took a sip gracefully. As the water entered his throat, his s.e.xy Adam's apple moved up and down.

Just a small gesture of drinking water made the female reporters and women staff's heart flutter.

He spoke after wiping his mouth with a tissue.

"As I said, it's our marriage certificate. We both are married."

"...?"

That's it?

They all felt like breaking his head open to see what's in his mind rather than asking questions. That would save everyone's energy and time.

"What the hell are speaking? Why are you showing it now itself? Didn't we agree to reveal it at the end?"

Rachel hissed at him.

"Trust me."

Aaron replied to her calmly with a smile plastered on his face.

He sure was an actor. No wonder he got selected as male lead to the novel.

Rachel felt like puking a mouthful of blood as she heard his reply.

Trust him? Sure! That is where she did a mistake. She had trusted him and did what he had asked for.

Now her so-called trusted person was backfiring at her.

They had agreed to reveal their marriage at the end. First, she was supposed to confess her betrayal, okay?

How can he always do as he wishes? What would she do if anything happens to Jane? How would she explain it to her parents?

Aaron ignored her disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, completely.

"Mr. Lee, are you saying that you both are married? When did it happen?"

Aaron cleared his throat before lying.

"One week back."

"...?"

"One week?" Rachel asked with disbelief!

How come she didn't know about this?

Aaron wanted to roll his eyes at her. He knew he hadn't said anything about his plan mainly because he wanted her expressions to be 'real' in front of the people. But, come on, this was way too 'real' for god's sake!

"Ms. Rachel, is it true that you are married already?"

The reporters couldn't trust the scheming guy.

She looked like a telephone that was out of order. Her small brain couldn't process the fact that she was married one week back without her knowledge!

Aaron nudged her with his elbow. She came back to her senses and stuttered a little.

"What? Um... Yes, yes, it's true."

Aaron's heart melted seeing her red little face, filled with confusion and anger. She was simply too cute!

He had a strange d.e.s.i.r.e to squeeze her plumpy red cheeks to his heart's content, but common sense had not left his brain, so he held it back.

"But there were rumors about your engagement with Mr. Darren. The employees of the Stein Industry have shared their opinion regarding this, stating that it's true. What do you have to say about this?"

The room fell silent with this question. The anxiety came back rushing like a stream to Rachel, engulfing her whole body, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Her palms started to sweat, tickling her nerves.
