An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 51 - 51: There's no future for us. (14)

"Should I? I am sure you are not one of the guys I have met in the club. I don't do it with kids."

She smirked after that. She didn't remember him. She was drunk that night. She tends to forget things once she gets sobered up.

Hearing her saying such things, he felt disgusted. He released her hand and walked away from there. He didn't understand why he felt like that. He felt disdain and anguish. Apart from that, he felt disappointed when she said she didn't remember him. All of a sudden, he felt helpless.

Crysta didn't think much and left from there. She had asked Rachel to accompany her to go to the club but the latter had some office work, hence declined. Rachel had asked her not to go alone but for someone like Crysta, it was nothing.

She had chosen this low profile club so that she could enjoy herself without getting disturbed. But, in the end, some guy had started to pester her, also, had hugged her like one Koala. Just in time, a fight broke out on the ground floor. She was thankful to those who started as she didn't want to stay there any longer.

Ren went back to the club and soon after that, everyone left.

In the office,

It was already 7.30 pm. She was supposed to leave the office early as she had got a call from her friend, Nichole, saying her dress has arrived. He had also asked her to try and see if it is to her taste. Hence, she was running late.

While she was organizing the guest lists and the project agreement on her desk, someone knocked.

"Come in," She saw the time and wondered who could it be.

"Rachel, someone is waiting for you in the lounge."

It was Lisa, one of the employees working in team B.

"Thanks. Were you still working?" Rachel frowned. It was past the working hours.

"Yes, a few of our team members stayed back to finish some presentation."

As she spoke, her eyes wandered around the desk which was filled with files. She stood at the door and watched as Rachel kept the things into the locker.

"Okay, I will get going now." Rachel closed the door behind before leaving.

As she reached the lounge, she spotted Darren. She had called him to meet her so that she could handover his suit.

"Everything okay?" He smiled as she reached him.

"Yeah, let's go." They both left the building.

Their car journey was silent as usual. Though Darren wanted to speak, he didn't.

Soon, their car reached the mansion. They went inside and were greeted by a loud shriek.

"Sis!!!" Jane came running towards her.

Rachel covered her ears. Darren just went past her to sit on the sofa, next to his father-in-law.

"What's wrong?" Rachel removed her hands once she was sure that Jane was not shouting anymore.

"Your dress came today! It is so pretty! It is so beautiful and bold. Come, you have to try it now itself!" Jane started tugging her towards the room.

"Yeah, I will. Give me a moment." Rachel faced Darren and spoke,

"Your suit is in my room." Darren excused himself before following them.

All the three entered the room and Jane exclaimed again seeing the dress which was hung next to the mirror.

"You see this!" Mini-hearts were popping out from Jane's eyes.

"Seriously? Jane, you are drooling over a dress!"

"That dress deserves my drool!" Jane was ready to drool all over herself if it was going to be hers.

Rachel rolled her eyes and went to see the dress. She felt the fabric with her hands and slowly a smile formed on her face.

Yes, it was pretty. It was beyond her expectation. She knew her friend would never disappoint her when it came to her dresses. But, this time, he had given her something special.

"It's beautiful," Darren spoke from behind.

"Yes, it is," Rachel spoke as if she was in a trance, still stroking the dress.

Jane urged Rachel to try on the dress. Darren and Jane waited for her to come out.

After some time, Rachel came out wearing the dress. She faced them and was met with two pairs of astonishing eyes. They both looked like they were some comical characters with their mouths and eyes wide open.

Jane felt like crying. She praised her several times before leaving the room for the couple.

Rachel stood in front of the mirror, wondering if it was her. Darren went and stood behind her. She was so immersed in admiring the dress that she wasn't even aware of their closeness.

"I take it back what I just said."

"Hmm?" She confusingly looked up and froze.

"You look gorgeous!" Darren whispered. He bent down and kissed her cheek.

This action caught her off guard. She just stared at him with those beautiful eyes.

At that moment, she didn't notice Darren taking a picture of them, secretly.

Somewhere in the Lee mansion, a mobile phone got smashed onto the floor.
