An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 22 - She couldn't reject nor accept. (5)

Just as they were about to argue more, a loud shriek came from inside. They both got stunned and turned their heads towards the sound.

As they were thinking about what could have happened, a sudden thought came into Rachel's mind. Her eyes went wide.

Seeing the odd reaction from her, Aaron got alarmed and asked,

"What's the matter?"

"Ja...Jane," She muttered to herself.

Without waiting for his reply, Rachel dashed inside only to find the horrific scene.

Inside the mansion, in the corridor, both Jane and Alan had each other's hair in their hands. They both were tugging roughly.

"Let go of my hair!" Jane shouted on top of her voice.

"You let go first," Alan roared equally against her.

"I am warning you, let go," Jane gritted her teeth.

Alan almost puked blood, hearing her 'warning'.

"Let go while I am still being nice," How could he back off?

"Jane!"

"Alan!"

"..."

They both turned towards the source of voice only to find Rachel, and Aaron, standing at the door. They both glared at each other, but still, didn't show any intention of backing off.

Aaron was fast, he moved and stood in front of them. Disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e was written on his face.

"Let go, both of you," He sounded calm.

But Alan understood that it is the calm before the storm.

Still, how can he lose to a girl? He didn't want to!

Seeing the situation going nowhere, Rachel also stepped in.

"Jane, listen to him."

Seeing that Rachel was supporting him, Aaron felt a rush of warmth inside his body.

"No, tell him to do it first." Of course, Jane as being a stubborn girl, wouldn't yield to this idiot.

Rachel sighed and threw a helpless glance towards Aaron.

Aaron, of course, couldn't make her worry.

Alan who saw this thought that his brother would flare up against him, but, to his surprise, Aaron put a warm smile on his face.

How? No... why?

Aaron gently patted Jane's head and tried to persuade her like a child.

"There, there, be obedient, okay? Let go of your hand."

Jane who was out of her mind got taken aback from this action. She blinked her doe eyes but still, her grip was tight.

Aaron continued his plan, shamelessly.

"Don't make your hand dirty by touching his hair. Okay?"

Puff...

Jane couldn't control at the end and laughed off. Rachel also laughed hearing this.

Alan was dumbstruck to hear his brother's statement. How... how in the world it got turned like this? His brother had ruined his image in front of an outsider. Sob *

His brother was just a heartless human being. Wait, was he even a human? No, he wasn't. Humans should be grateful for others. His brother should have been grateful to him for helping in meeting his future wife but, here he was, humiliating him. What an arrogant bastard!

Since Jane had removed her hands, without any other option, he took his hands back.

"Now, tell us what happened." Rachel frowned.

They just stood their glaring at each other.

"Ask her,"

"Ask him," They both spoke together.

Finally, in their minds, they decided not to trouble others.

"Nothing."

"Nothing." Again! Seriously? What was wrong with them?

Aaron felt a headache coming. He felt as if he was a father who was punishing two small children for their misbehaving. He had his own problems, okay? He didn't want to continue with these two idiots.

"Alright, Alan go back now." He commanded with his determined voice.

"Bro, I didn't--" Aaron interrupted him.

"I said go back now,"

Alan without any other option left the corridor with puffed cheeks. When he passed beside Jane, the girl winked at him and also stuck her tongue out which meant to say, 'Serves you right for picking up a fight with me.'

But Alan could only grit his teeth. He swore that he would pay her back a hundred times of this. No, thousand times of this for sure!

Rachel also instructed Jane to go back to the living area to avoid their parents from knowing this. They would scold and worry about Jane. Well, to be honest, they would scold her.

Jane reluctantly went back to her parents.

Rachel felt relieved and turned back only to find Aaron staring at her.

Remembering their earlier conversation, she felt awkward to face him. To remove the awkwardness, she changed the topic.

"You shouldn't have scolded your brother like that. He might have felt bad."

She genuinely felt terrible for Alan. She knew that Alan alone couldn't be responsible for the fight. Jane must have added fuel to that.

"He will be fine," Aaron replied as a matter of fact.

Okay, if you say so.

After a few seconds, the awkwardness came back again. Seeing that she was squirming on her spot, Aaron decided to let her go for today.

"Good night Rach,"

Rachel took a few seconds to digest the words spoken by him. Finally, she mustered her courage and spoke,

"Good night Mr. Lee," She left after that.

A bitter smile formed on Aaron's face.
