An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 21 - She couldn't reject nor accept. (4)

Rachel was standing in the lawn facing her back towards him. After having dinner, she came out for some fresh air with Jane. But she abandoned her on the way due to her catfight with Alan. She did not understand the reason why they both started to fight.

After waking around, she stood there lost in her thoughts.

Aaron walked up to her and stood behind her. He bent and spoke in his husky voice.

"Had your dinner?"

Rachel jolted from her thoughts when she felt his breath on her ears. She turned back and got stunned. She had not expected him to be here. She thought that he had gone back to his room and had not come out yet. Based on this only, she got the guts to come out for a walk.

But this guy! When did he even come? Sneaky fellow!

She took a few breaths to calm her heart. He nearly gave a heart attack to her. Poor heart!

"What are you doing here?" He probed further since she did not answer.

"None of your business." She turned to leave.

He reacted fast and grabbed her wrist. It was very rare for them to be alone together.

"Rach," He slowly called her name. Still, she refused to see his face.

He sighed and placed his hands on her shoulder to turn her body to face him. She reflexively struggled to get rid of his hands from her shoulder.

He held her tight. "Stop it, Rach!" He was running out of his patience.

Hearing the change in his tone, she stopped struggling and stood still. She stared at his face with her adorable eyes blinking.

Seeing that look on her face, he sighed and took his hands back. He should not scare her.

"So, how have you been?"

She raised her head in shock after hearing about the sudden change of topic. She blinked and blinked but did not answer him.

Seeing her lack of reaction, he didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. He bent his body so that he could reach her eye level.

"Am I that stunning?"

Coming back to her senses, she pushed his body away from her. Shameless fellow!

"I'm going back in!" She turned back to leave. How can he leave her so easily? He walked with his long legs and stood in front of her, blocking her way.

"Can't we have a normal conversation?"

"You call this a normal conversation?" She was referring to his previous shameless boasting.

"I asked you a decent question before that, but you didn't answer as you were lost in admiring my beauty." He smirked.

She couldn't retort back as it was true. Of course, she could not accept it.

"I wasn't," She barked at him.

He nodded his head meaning to say that he understood. But his devilish grin betrayed him.

Hmph! She could not trust him. Never!

She simply neglected him and walked towards the entrance.

"Why did you break your promise?" Aaron shouted from behind. His playful tone was now replaced with a serious and aggressive tone.

She abruptly stopped in her tracks. She didn't turn but curled her fingers into a fist. All this time, she had avoided him but finally, she couldn't do it. She has to face the consequences.

"Rach, look at me," He roared from behind. He had enough of this! He wanted to know what made her forget him.

Rachel slowly turned to face him. Her face had zero expression. He couldn't see anything but a blank face. His heart turned cold. He clenched his fist tightly. His knuckles became as white as a plain sheet.

"I was not on my right mind at that time." She answered him.

"Don't try to lie to me, Rach," He gritted his teeth. He knew she was lying to him.

"I'm not. I must have been muddle-headed to promise you back then. Anyways, that was all in the past. I need not keep my promise which meant nothing to me." She spoke without giving him a chance.

"I hope you won't bother me in the future." Saying this she stood there with her eyes determined.

"No, you love me!" He was not giving up on her. Never!

"I don't," She said without blinking her eyes.

"Stop joking around Rach, and I know you love me." His voice sounded almost like pleading. He felt his heart getting pricked by sharp needles.

He took a deep breath and asked her,

"Then, do you love that Darryl guy?" He narrowed his eyes. She could see the dangerous aura around him.

"Darren," She corrected him.

"Whatever," It didn't matter anyway.

"I do," She needed to clarify everything to him. She couldn't simply go on like this. It should end here.

"Lier," Aaron scoffed.
