An Inevitable Fate?

It was none other than Edwin.

"Hey, babe." Hearing Jane's loud greetings, Alan opened his eyes wide. 'Babe? Is she dating?'

"Why have you come alone? Where is Ren?" Jane asked, still working on her laptop. Edwin ordered his coffee and replied to her.

"He has some work to attend to. He will come directly there."

"Oh, okay. Two minutes, we will leave after finishing this damn work."

She was fed up with student life. She was pursuing her degree in architecture, while Edwin and Ren were studying business and music respectively. They both were in their final years whereas Jane still had one more year. Sigh!

"Sure babe, take your sweet time."

Jane lifted her head, hearing his response but found him winking at some random girl. She shook her head and continued with the work. 'He will never change.'

Seeing both of them interacting intimately, Alan felt uncomfortable. The thought of her having a boyfriend had not come to his mind all these days. He gasped when he realized something.

'She slapped me for trying to kiss her because of him?'

He still didn't realize one thing, that he was still starring at her. Edwin saw him looking at Jane but didn't think much at first. But later, he 'understood' Alan's looks and said to Jane, frowning,

"Hey, some guy is looking at you."

"He has good eyes." Jane carelessly replied.

"I am serious here, you idiot." Edwin vexed at her.

"Babe, don't be jealous okay?" She replied playfully and went back to her work.

Edwin slapped his forehead and stood up from his place. He removed his leather jacket and put it on Jane to cover her b.a.r.e skin, gave a warning look to Alan and went back to his seat.

Alan's face turned crimson red. 'What the heck was that?'

He was furious. He got up but at the same time, Mike came in front of him.

"Hi, Alan, nice to meet you."

"Mike, nice to meet you too." Without any other option, he sat back into his seat.

Mike was a well-known person in the modeling industry. He was of the same age as Alan, 24-year-old with a haughty personality. He was rather famous for his arrogance and aloofness, who could turn a plain person into a famous model and also, a shining modeling star into nothing due to their behavior. Everyone knew that he had high standards which could not be achieved easily. He had the power to turn simple stone into a precious jade.

Recently, he quit the Glamorous company which was considered to be the top company in the modeling industry. He didn't want to continue on this path, but he received a call from Lee Aaron, the CEO of Lee industries and was asked to support his brother in starting up with the company as his brother had no experience. He was also offered to be the co-founder of the company. The only reason for him to accept this job was because of freedom.

"Shall we begin?" Mike asked with an irritated tone as he caught Alan's lack of interest.

"Uh? ...Sure. Sure!" Alan came back to sense with Mike's alarm.

While they were discussing, Alan kept peeking at Jane for some unknown reason. He wanted to go and clarify his doubts.

After some time, he saw Jane leaving the cafe with Edwin's hand on her shoulders. Seeing them being close, he got annoyed.

'I will pay you back. Just wait!' He smirked. His thoughts were interrupted by Mike.

"I have read the contract. I want to add a condition to that."

"And, what is that?" Alan asked, raising one eyebrow.

"Company should not interfere in the matters of my work. It doesn't get to say 'No' for my selection of models and their training. I will have my full privilege to do as I wish."

"Are you kidding me, Mr. Mike?" Alan busted out.

It is my company and I should be the one to decide the rules and regulations. This guy dares to command me what to do and what not to do? Great, just great!

"What do you think?" Mike was running out of patience. This guy!

"What made you think that I would agree to your condition? Hah." Alan mocked him. How dare he?

Mike lazily leaned back on the seat and answered unhurriedly.

"I wouldn't have bothered to come if it was not because of your brother."

"My brother?" Alan was dumbfounded. Can anyone tell me how it got turned out like this?

"I have spoken to your brother already. You can clarify with him but I don't have time to sit and 'chat' with you. If you don't agree to my condition, then this deal is off."

As he spoke, he got ready to leave.

"Hold on. I... I agree." How embarrassing!
