A Second Life

Chapter 6 - 6. Here it is...

NOTE: Sumire's thought would be in [] from now on.

One by one, the students of class 1-A entered the classroom.

Like the noisy teenagers they are, they made the previously dull classroom raucous. Especially Bakugou and Iida. One could care less about rules and the other cared deeply for them. They both would fight like an old couple.

"Don't out your legs on the desk. Don't you think that's disrespectful towards your classmates?!" The boy with rectangular face, rectangular eyes and rectangular glasses- Iida, criticised. His gesture only added more punch to his words...which efficiently managed to irk Bakugou, well everything irks him, though.

"No, as a matter of fact, I don't think so. Which middle school are you anyway, you two bit extra!?" This earned the explosive-ash-blond-with-an-eternal-frowny-face, Bakugou's cynicism.

"A private sch-- Ahem, I'm from Soumei Junior High School, the name's Iida Tenya." Iida replied in all seriousness and hand gestures.

"Soumei~~!? Well aren't you an elite? Seems like I got the reason to f*uking end you after all." Bakugou replied in scarily realistic tone.

"What a nerve! You, want to be a hero?" Iida had genuinely horrified expression and gestures.

The scene caused the who just person entered feel like the most miserablest person in the world. The appearance of the green broccoli, Midoriya Izuku received Sumire's attention. Sumire kindly invited the boy who looked like he regrets living into the class.

"Please come in Midoriya-san. No need to mind those two." Sumire suggested politely.

"Ah...hai. Thank you." Midoriya somehow looked a little better. Sumire's voice must really have a unusual ability to it.

"Ano, how did you know my name?" Midoriya asked timidly, realising he didn't say his name.

[Highly observant indeed.]

"Ah, that's nothing. I memorised everybody's name in the hero course. I was excited to meet you all, you see." Sumire said glibly.

"Oh...I see." The boy said, a bit more relaxed this time; only to get tensed at sensing Iida looking at both of them.

Iida walked toward them and began introducing himself.

"Hello, I'm Iida Tenya from Soumei-"

"Oh, yeah. Haha. I overheard. Uh...I'm Midoriya Izuku. Nice to meet you, Iida and this is…"

"I'm Azumi Sumire. Nice to meet you two." Sumire introduced herself with a smile.

The boys blushed a little at that.

'She's stunning.' they both thought.

"Ahem...Midoriya...I must hand it to you. You divined the actual nature of the practical exam, didn't you?" Iida said.

"Really? That's impressive, Midoriya-san." Sumire chimed in.

"T-That's not-"

"No need to be modest. I...was blind to it. And I completely misread you! I hate admitting it but you were the better man!" Iida said with grave expressions and gestures.

Midoriya sweatdropped. 'But...I didn't realise it either!'

Sumire arched a brow, the whole class was a bit interested now...even Bakugou let out a "Deku"

Suddenly, the classroom door was gently opened. A cute girl with brown hair and rosy cheeks appeared. She reminded Sumire of Lieutenant Kusajishi.

"Ah, it's you! Curly hair kid! Glad I found you!" It was Uraraka Ochaco.

[The gravity girl]

Midoriya and Uraraka were promptly engaged in their little chat, with the former being red faced and the latter couldn't be any less zealous and oblivious to the boy's bashful state.

The rest of the class were mildly amused, except for few in which Bakugou was a part. He looked like he wanted to murder Midoriya.

[These two have more going on between them, much more than I expected.]

Breaking the brief conversation between two potential lovers was drained, sleep deprived voice.

"If you're gonna be hitting buddies do it elsewhere."

The man who was crawling like a caterpillar within his sleeping bag said and continued, "This is the department...of heroics!!"

'Who the hell is this guy?' the entire class thought in silence, except Sumire.

[The legendary underground hero, Eraserhead...the homeroom teacher for the first year... I should never let Kiyoko-chan see him or him crawling in a sleeping bag...the kid would definitely develop this bad habit with her love to sleep.]

The man poked out of his yellow sleeping bag, standing in a slouchy posture in black clothes with a rope like scarf around his neck. After the class quietened, he started speaking.

"Hmm, it took you lot 8 seconds to calm down. Life is short kids. You're all lacking in common sense."

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta. P.l.e.a.s.u.r.e meeting you."

Many didn't see it coming.

He pulled out clothes which looked like training outfits and urged everyone to change into it quickly. He wanted everyone out in the P E grounds immediately.

When all the class changed into the outfit and ready to go the grounds, Aizawa stated about the 'Quirk Apprehension Test.'

[Here it comes…]

"What about the Orientation? What about the guidance counselor?" Uraraka couldn't hold it in asked.

"If you want to be heros, we don't have for frilly niceties." Aizawa stated cooly.

"....!?"

"You all understand the school's reputation of freedom on campus. Well, that 'freedom' goes for us senseis, too."

"...?" The class was confused, while Sumire thought. [I like this.]

Aizawa showed the class the general physical assessment activities.

"These are all the activities you know from middle school naturally. Physical assessments where you were barred from using your quirks."

"The country still hasn't gotten to standardising those sorts of records or keeping track of average performance levels. Well, that's negligence on the part of MEXT."

Everyone were reminded of the times when the use of quirks was prohibited, without authorisation, of course.

"Azumi, didn't you come first in the practical exam?"

"Hai." the entire class looked at the girl and were in bit of awe. The top score was practically a legend by now.

'As expected of the Demon.'

'So...she's the first, huh.'

'She's cool and pretty.'

'Nice body!'(=Mineta).

Aizawa paused for a while and continued, "No, my bad. Bakugou, how far could you pitch a softball in middle school?"

"67 meters" Bakugou replied, a bit startled.

"Try using your quirk this time around. As long as you're inside the circle, anything is fine. Don't hold back." Aizawa passed a softball to Bakugou and made him stand in the circle.

"You got it." Bakugou replied confidently.

'Just augment the pitch with some shock power.'

Bakugou flung the ball with a "DIE!!!"

It flew causing few gusts of winds to blow on its trail.

'Die?' the class thought.

The device in Aizawa's hand started beeping. "Before anything else, one must know what they're capable of."

He indicated the result of the throw. It was a nice 705.2 meters. A huge difference indeed.

"This is the rational metric that will form the basis of 'Hero Foundations'."

Everyone were genuinely shocked with the result.

"705 m? Unreal!"

"We can really use our quirks now? That's the department of heroics for you!"

"That sounds FUN!!!"

All except Midoriya and Sumire were overjoyed.

'Uh oh, this is bad...8 trails? this is all so sudden…'

[Hm...should try to control my strength to little more than 700m. That's okay. I'm good with my control now…]

"It looks fun...you say?"

Aizawa started speaking in a doomsday voice, "So you were planning to spend your three years having a good ol' time? What happened to becoming heros?"

The kids sensed he was off…

[Here it comes…]

"All right then. In that case, new rule: the student who ranks last will be considered hopeless and…"

'AND?'

"WILL BE INSTANTLY EXPELLED!"

Aizawa looked absouletly serious (and sadistic) as he said that.
