A Second Life

Chapter 14 - Misunderstand

All Might and the soon-to-be-heros were all gathered in the bas.e.m.e.nt to watch the footage of the upcoming battle.

All the students were intently staring at the screens. They had an advantage to observe…and they were not wasting it. They need watch and hatch their own strategies.

'Midoriya, my boy, here you are just another student to me! So don't expect any favouritism - I'll grade you just as harshly as the rest!' All Might thought in his mind while evaluating.

On screen, the Villain team were planning and stayed still. Elsewhere, the heroes entered the building. Being the ever prudent broccoli, Midoriya took every step with caution.

He was vigilant. He had to. His body wasn't able to adjust One For All completely yet, and it would straight up kill people. So fighting with strength was out of question. Hence, this trial was a battle of wits and strategies.

Each note, advice, solution, etc. he wrote in his book never left his mind.

Suddenly, Midoriya felt air around him diverge rapidly. He turned his head and saw Bakugou.

The feral grin on his face paired with the vicious glint in his red eyes was enough. It perfectly indicated no good.

The greenette was barely able to dodge the punch right after it nearly connected to his face. Half of his mask was ripped as his face was grazed by the attack.

"Are you alright Uraraka-san?" Midoriya asked her, unsure if she was hurt, while supporting her get back to her feet.

"Thanks... I'm alright."

As the smoke around them cleared, they heard an ever angry Bakugou talk again.

"Damn it Deku! Don't dodge me!"

The blonde demanded.

On the other side of the screen, many of them were surprised.

"That Bakugou's a cheater! An ambush is so unmanly!" A redhead with very pointed teeth berated the unfairness of the situation.

"Ambushes are good strategies! They are in the middle of the battle, after all." All Might said otherwise.

"Midoriya actually ducked away from it pretty well!" A girl or rather a pink alien girl chirped excitedly.

All of their concentration was s.u.c.k.e.d into the monitor screen which displayed Bakugou launched yet another lethal blow.

Just as they thought Midoriya was done for, the boy surprised them.

He gripped Bakugou's arm and hurled him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

What a beautiful twist of events…

It was nice to watch. The arrogant boy who never held any of them in regard getting thrashed was good. Definitely. A Teen Drama.

"Kacchan… You always lead with a big right swing! I can't count how many times I've seen you do it…!"

Midoriya said, with an undertone of emotions too hard to conceal.

"I analysed and took noted on all the heroes I thought were amazing… including you! The same notes you blew up and tossed away!" He stood up to face the blonde.

"I'm no longer the Deku you equated with a worthless puppy… I'm the 'Deku' who never gives up!!!" His yells carried his true yet suppressed feelings over a long time.

The declaration infuriated Bakugou in no small amounts.

"Damn you Deku!" He scowled.

Midoriya was expecting him to attack once again and was ready to defend. And boy he was so dissapointed.

Against everyone's predictions Bakugou attacked Uraraka. The lady who acting as a bystander had to pay for her carelessness.

"Bakugou's a beast! He attacked her without mercy!" Few thought he lacked chivalry.

"In a battle there is no mercy." All Might stated solemnly. He was able to notice there was no real threat behind that attack. It 'looked' grave, but it couldn't fool the eyes of battle hardened man.

'Something's not right… that attack was most likely a feint… What is young Bakugou planning to do?"

Everything from then happened in a flash. Now no one dared to imagine what Bakugou would do.

All they saw was Midoriya let Uraraka escape and hold Bakugou all by himself. And the result… A punch was all it took to take Midoriya down.

It was implausible. The spectators were catatonic.

But there was more. They watched Sumire emerge on the screen carrying an unconscious Uraraka, tied up in the 'capture tape.'

She looked at her teammate to speak with him.

"I guess it's done. Are you okay?"

"Yeah."

Both of them didn't say anything else and stayed silent. They didn't know what to do next as they had no prior experience.

Sumire thought they needed to bind both the heroes to end it. So she went towards the Midoriya who out cold and had a shattered arm, much worse than she imagined. Without wasting anymore time, she just shouted aloud.

"All Might-san, We captured the hero team. I guess it is our victory. And Midoriya-kun needs an immediate first aid. I think his arm is fractured."

Her words were rung like a clap of thunder in everyone's heads and brought them back to reality.

"AHEM. I ANNOUNCE: THE VILLAIN TEAM WINS."

All Might said it and promptly left to the building to retrieve the injured boy.

The Mini Conveyor Bots carried Midoriya back to the nurse's office. All Might looked at Uraraka.

"She would soon wake up." Sumire said, deciphering the meaning in the man's gaze.

"Very well, let's go back to where everyone is." He flashed a smile at them and escorted them back.

***

Sumire and Bakugou walked to the bas.e.m.e.nt.

In the monitor room, everyone looked at the four people who entered. All Might, Bakugou, Azumi and Uraraka, who was now awake.

The three students waited for their evaluation from the man.

"Hmm, I'd say all of you didn't do that well! Can anyone tell me why~~?"

As soon as he finished, Yaoyorozu extended her hand and started explaining her analysis.

"It's because none of them followed their roles properly. The villain team were lucky with their so-called victory!

The match revolved around the core. And all of them overlooked it.

Foremost, Bakugou and Midoriya were clearly engaged in some kind of personal grudge. Their last action was foolish. With their quirks, they could've possibly destroyed the building and the core. And that was a very foolish thing to do.

Uraraka slacked off and let Azumi take advantage of her. And Azumi left the core completely unguarded. If she hadn't caught Uraraka, they wouldn't have won so easily."

A brief silence was broken by a scoff from Bakugou.

"Heh. Another know-it-" Before he could finish, he was smacked by Sumire.

"Damn! What the hell was that for?" He glared at the cause of his misery.

"There's no need to be so harsh with your words."

"Tch. sh-"

"You speak another word, and you're doing the explanation."

"..." that was effective in shutting his mouth.

Sumire turned towards everyone who was watching the drama.

[Sigh… Why can't they be a little more smart and see what we really did? I bet they merely watched the fight and ignored everything... How can they perfectly misunderstand?]
