A Second Life

Chapter 11 - 11. Just like everyone

A growl was heard, a rather urgent one. Bakugou wasn't the type to be embarrassed by the sound of growls, much less his own. He appeared like nothing was wrong. He just didn't dare to return a look to the person staring at him. It was an amused stare, nonetheless.

"...you're hungry?"

"Yeah, so what about it? You got a problem?"

"No, in fact I'm famished too, how about I prepare some food while you get changed. We both can eat."

"Tch, do whatever you want."

"Sure."

Bakugou couldn't care less about some trifling mannerisms and Sumire didn't want to let go the chance to ease the tension. She still felt guilty about nearly killing him in a moment of rage.

Sumire roamed like she owned the place and went into the kitchen. She howled the fridge of its contents and started cooking. She worked so fast that all the prep work was nearly done.

Some time later, Bakugou changed and got downstairs.

Bakugou's eyes twitched, even his finger twitched. It was a huge shock after all.

Who knew Sumire would do this. She looked like a decent girl. How could Bakugou know it? That Sumire made food, a lot of food, well just like Okumura Rin…a bit more exaggerated, though.

"Ah, you came. Could you help me carry some of them?" Sumire requested. Bakugou went into the kitchen to carry the food, thinking it wasn't much, but the stuff present there said otherwise. His eyes were now wide like saucers.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!!!" Bakugou freaked so many times today.

"Ah, that, I got carried away a bit." Sumire couldn't meet his eyes.

"YOU CALL THIS A BIT?!!!"

"Sorry, sorry, haha…"

"How on earth do you expect me to finish...all of this?"

"It's not too much, we can work hard!" okay, that one was stupid.

"YEAH! WE JUST NEED SOME HARD WORK AND TEN MORE PEOPLE TO FINISH EVERYTHING!!!"

"Mah. Bakugou-kun, don't say that! It would be delicious, you know! You can eat it for breakfast tomorrow too."

"Tsk! You still have the guts to say that?"

"Geez, now stop being so whiny and carry them to the table! I promise you would really enjoy them, look they're all spicy, so you'd like them!"

"Whatever."

Bakugou sighed (Author: ~?) and surrendered (Author: ?!?!?!?!!!!!).

Both of them placed all food on the table, there were twenty-some dishes, which looked quite appetizing.

They both were about to start eating when they heard a gasp.

"...what's happening here, Katsuki?" Bakugou Mitsuki, Kacchan's mother asked.

"Are you blind, old hag? I'm about to eat!"

"Katsuki! Answer me properly! Where the heck is this food from?"

Mitsuki started demanding. Both the parents were just back from their office as they were needed at the last minute. They felt bad about leaving their son at home. They wanted to treat him some food for dinner, hence they were surpised to see all the food.

"Ahem...good evening there, Mrs Bakugou." Sumire coughed softly to grab the woman's attention towards her, in order to avoid the two Bakugous try and destroy the table.

"...Who are you?" Mitsuki was mildly shocked. She just realised there was a girl here, extremely cute one at that.

"Ah, pardon my rudeness, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Azumi Sumire. Bakugou-kun's classmate." Sumire introduced herself with a smile.

Mitsuki was a bit dazed at her smile. "Katsuki's classmate?" she asked blankly.

"Yes."

"Oh." She didn't know what to say further.

Sensing another yet to follow awkward silence, Sumire started speaking.

"Ano, would you like joining us? I made lots of food." Like that, the four of them started eating. Mitsuki had more questions, both for Sumire and Katsuki.

She wanted to ask her son how he managed to have a cute girl for a friend but held it in, fearing he would start behaving violently as usual and startle the girl. So preferably, she chatted with Sumire, who didn't have any problem with enjoying a nice chat along with a meal.

Mitsuki roared in laughter when Sumire honestly told why she came. She even thanked her for teaching her son a lesson. Sumire was confused and Katsuki was slowly simmering with rage, while Bakugou Masaru was enjoying the dinner and listening to their chat.

"Thanks again, Sumire-chan. The meal was awesome."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll be leaving then, it's time for the curfew."

"Sure, pass by anytime."

"Definitely, bye Aunt Mitsuki!" Mitsuki managed to make Sumire call her that.

When the girl left, Mitsuki undertook her mission of interrogating her son.

"Katsuki, did you really insult Sumire-chan?"

"HELL YEAH AND SHE NEARLY STRANGLED ME FOR THAT!"

"I should be the one to strangle you, you brat! How could you be rude to that gentle girl!"

"Now, now, calm down both of you." Masaru tried making peace.

"Shut up." But alas, he was no match to the mother and son pair.

"But still, Katsuki, nice job on making friends with such a adorable girl." Mitsuki winked and Masaru gave a thumps. It took a minute for Katsuki to realise what they meant, and he furiously denied it.

"QUIT THIS NONSENSE! SHE'S NOT MY FRIEND! AND I'M GOING TO CRUSH HER!" With that, he rushed towards his room, ignoring his mother's giggles and his father's soft chuckles.

"Did you look at that? He blushed! How cute!" Mitsuki couldn't hold it any longer and squealed.

"Haha. I saw it. But I however find it hard to believe that Katsuki was defeated by Sumire-chan."

"It's better this way. She won't be afraid of Katsuki. I would love seeing her beat him again and again, curbing his arrogance." Mitsuki said blissfully, already happy at the thought.

"That would be nice too. But it's really sad that such a good kid is an orphan, how unfortunate." Masaru's words turned a gear in Mitsuki's mind.

"Ne, ne, how about we adopt Sumire-chan? She's so cute and pleasant. I always wanted a daughter like her. We can adopt her, right?" Mitsuki asked, really embracing this idea.

"Well...we should think about it later. We need to think about Katsuki too."

Mitsuki's dreams were shattered, her son would never agree to that. But soon, something else was brewing in her mind, something that would cause Katsuki to shiver in fear.

Let's not talk about it for now.

Katsuki slammed the door and laid on top of his bed. He was Bakugou Katsuki and he sleeps early - beauty sleep.

Katsuki tried to sleep like usual but wasn't able to. All the things happened today came into his mind, shooing away any possible sleep.

He thought about Deku, who had been hiding his power and that girl, Azumi. He thought he would be first but there were three people ahead of him. As if that wasn't enough, he nearly got killed by the very person he wanted to defeat, delivering a tremendous blow to his pride.

But aside all of it, he also had this peculiar feeling in his c.h.e.s.t. It was not the terrible feeling when he was strangled, it was different. But it irked him, nonetheless.

It was there from the moment he saw Sumire. It started since he looked it into her eyes. She did something to him, and he was unable to figure it out. It bothered him and caused him to be angry at Sumire, trying to suppress his little insecurities he didn't know why he had.

Her eyes, which always seemed to hide deep melancholy, the way they were empty when she was provoked, everything was being played like a film inside his head.

And when those eyes looked sincere, he felt the odd feeling intensify. The way she dodged his gaze guiltyly before dinner, her smiles when she was chatting with his mother, he was unable to take them away from his head.

But the worst was the uniquely soft 'clouds' he 'felt' today was yet to haunt him. And he could only brush them off, thinking they were some teenage woes with a lot of difficulty.

A boy like him who never had a chance to communicate with a girl before. Because he frightened them.

Hence, Bakugou Katsuki, though smart, strong and handsome(?), didn't even had an idea of crush or being one. He was too scary for the girls, and he thought they were a waste of time.

Therefore, he currently would be plagued by the first crush he ever had, just like every other teenager. Sadly, he wouldn't know what it was. Katsuki, though smart and observant, often concealed his true feelings to himself rather well, making him the angst King.

A typical example would be his complex relationship with his childhood friend Midoriya.

Anyway, it would be so much fun to watch the awkward teenager trying to constantly deny his crush. Others can only stare at him in confusion while his mother would giggle at him for being an idiot. His father would pity him. Sumire would be oblivious to all of this. But all of this is a story for another time.
