They moved quickly, one bread per man. Later, when each and every one had been distributed bread, Zhang Zhongmin announced that from now on, they all would begin to train on their life survival skills.

As soon as it was announced, everyone began to clamor. Was this meant to get them to go out and kill zombies? You want them to go die? The school ground was in an uproar.

“Stop!” When he heard the crowd’s commotion, Zhang Zhongmin let out an exasperated yell.

Till now, it was thanks to the piles of zombie corpses piled up at their four gate entrances that allowed them to conceal the group. So far no zombies had found their way to the school.

“I know, these undead could be anywhere and that scares you. We’re all human and it’s normal to be afraid.” Zhang Zhongmin spoke and looked at them getting paranoid. The people flinched, ”Everyone, I also want to protect you, I want you to leave here safely and live a good life. I will only be able to protect you for a moment, but not for the rest of your lives.”

“None of us can guarantee when these horrid creatures will be wiped out! So, we all will train together, not because I don’t want to protect you guys anymore, but because I want to give everyone more skills to save themselves  and not just be shielded under the protection few of us can provide.”

“Think about it, there are two thousand of you here and only ten of us instructors. If there is real danger coming and you don’t have the means to save your lives, how many of you can be saved by a few of us alone?”

The school ground gradually fell silent as everyone listened intently to Zhang Zhongmin’s words.

A girl in the front row cried out in alarm , “So what to do? Wasn’t it the government that abandoned us, leaving us here to rot? To fend for ourselves?”

Her words set off a ripple of agitation, causing the ground to be rowdy again.

Zhang Zhongmin gulped slightly and raised his voice, ”It won’t, the country will definitely not leave you guys alone. Students, you have to believe in our country.”

“But we can’t just rely on the government can we? We don’t know how dangerous things are out there right now, but they are certainly far more stronger and dangerous than we are.” Zhang Zhongmin exclaimed, “I believe that as long as we unite, as long as we have faith, we will definitely defeat the zombies and will definitely bring back our peaceful world!”

Where did this virus come from and by what means? No one knew.

Hearing Zhang Zhongmin’s words, many students had their eyes turn red, their hands clenched into shaking fists, but none of them came forward to respond.

Liu Guoan looked at the silent playground, but also raised his voice and roared, “Decades ago, we were able to defeat the well-equipped invaders with primitive equipment, relying only on our spirit of unity and courage to fight. As long as we remain united and brave, I’m sure these zombies won’t be able to harm us anymore.”

“Yes, these zombies move slowly, strong as an adult, but not agile. As long as we conquer our fears and find a way. We’ll beat these horrid creatures!” Teng Wencong also shouted from the sidelines.

With their impassioned voices, the students’ hearts began to stagger .

“Yeah, we’re going to train, we’re going to kill zombies. Return to us a land of peace!” A voice raised up, causing Zhang Zhongmin to be somewhat surprised.

He looked towards a woman standing in the group of teachers at one side, her eyes full of wariness and unease, very much at odds with her soft appearance.

“We’re going to train, we’re going to kill zombies!”

“We’re going to train, we’re going to kill zombies!”

What was once peaceful became polluted with rage. The playground, which was still silent, suddenly resounded with these sounds.

Fu Cao opened her eyes forcefully, rubbed the remainders of sleep from her eyes and stretched out. She opened the window with a yawn, her nose twitching, there was a faint fishy smell in the air.

And those impassioned voices, the sound of it still reverted in the air.

The zombies slowly gathered around them, staggering in the direction the sound was coming from.

“How foolish.” Fu Cao was speechless, was it because they feared zombies so much that it was enough to make them forget they were in the school, hiding? It seems she had miscalculated and expected the school base had already been set up, when it hadn’t ….

She couldn’t let this base fall into pieces or her plans would fall flat. After pondering over it for a while, Fu Cao directly jumped from the window, the spirit power she withdrew made the zombies stop in their tracks.

    “GRR-“

A roar followed by a roar, incomprehensible but Fu Cao could hear the submissive connotations from it. But since the zombies were still unconscious, acting on their instinct. It was impossible for Fu Cao to have a clear communication with them.

It was just a matter of driving these zombies away with awe.

There were four gates to this school, she had just now repelled the zombies near the East Gate, but the zombies on the other four gates were still advancing.

She made her way to the school’s entrance and flipped inside with ease.

“What the….Man!” The people of the security team guarding the door gawked at Fu Cao nervously, as if trying to remember how to speak, trembling constantly with the sticks in their hands.

“You let them make so much noise, don’t you know that the zombies are not only sensitive to smell but still particularly receptive to sound? Roaring so loud, were you not afraid in the least that you might attract zombies?” Fu Cao said with a disdainful face.

If it wasn’t for her plans, she wouldn’t have come over. Humans were far more cunning than anyone: she thought, though she had once been a human too.

Recovering her memories, she was not as tolerant of humans as she was when she had no memories before.

Without memories, she possessed a strong sense of goodwill towards humanity but after restoring her memories, there was neither ill will towards humanity nor any generous sentiment left.

Anyway, she won’t ever be as silly as she was in her previous life.

“Huh?” The security guard swallowed hard.

“Ah what ah, go and inform them already?” With that, Fu Cao headed inside. Now early in the apocalypse, although everyone feared zombies, they did not yet harbor ill will towards their companions.

The security team silently watched Fu Cao go in, and didn’t follow suit, but just told Zhang Zhongmin on the intercom.

Fu Cao followed the direction of the sound and walked quickly towards the large playground.

The students also roared passionately, their slightly red eyes indicating their fear and discomfort. Initially,  these zombies were humans who got infected and turned into an undead.

Zhang Zhongmin frowned upon receiving the news and glanced at the woman in a dress, walking with a ponytail tied high above her head.

He turned his head at Liu Guoan, who then walked towards Fu Cao’s side.

“May I ask, what can I do for you?” The security guard simply stated someone had come in looking for them, but didn’t say exactly who it was.

“Shut them up, they’re making a racket, all the zombies will be drawn over.” Fu Cao frowned and gave him a darklook as she stared at the playground.

“What do you mean?” Liu Guoan asked cautiously.

“Zombies are very sensitive to sound, and you guys make such loud noise here. It would be strange if those zombies didn’t come over.” Fu Cao looked at her, “Anyway, I have delivered my words, as for what to do, it’s your business.”

    Fu Cao turned to leave.

“Ah!” as she was about to leave, the ground was in uproar again; panicked voices echoed from the crowd.

When Fu Cao turned her head, she saw a boy faint on the ground. The people around them scattered in a hurry, leaving an expanse where the boys laid alone on the ground.

“What’s going on?” Zhang Zhongmin leapt off the stage and walked quickly. He first peered at the boys’  hands which weren’t growing any long fingernails yet before he flipped his hands over the boys’ eyes to look at them.

His eyes were wide open and Zhang Zhongmin’s hand shook. Reaching up to cover the boys’ foreheads, it was burning hot.

He took a deep breath, there were no more zombies in the school. So there was no way this boy could have been scratched by a zombie, and also when he checked, there were no wounds on his body.

“Xiao Bin, take the rope and tie him up first.” Zhang Zhongmin said, and then looked at the woman in white to one side: “Teacher Feng, please go to the infirmary and get some fever reducing medicine.”

Feng Han was the school doctor at the school, and when she heard about the antipyretic, she was instantly alarmed. She nodded and hurried to the infirmary to get the antipyretic.

When Qiu Ying Ying saw the rope being used, the boy getting bundled up in a chair, his face pale. She pursed her lips and hesitated for a while thinking, if she should  tell everyone that she also got a fever from the virus, someone won’t necessarily turn into a zombie, there was also the possibility of gaining abilities?

At once, many people on the playground began to wail and cry, dominated by profound sadness and the morale that they had just built was shattered all at once.

“I say, you all resent that you can’t die fast enough, don’t you?” Fu Cao circled back and squinted her eyes at the crowd and said coldly. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was crystal clear to everyone’s ears, as if she was standing in front of you while speaking to you face to face.

“Haven’t you ever seen a pig run, without eating one? Although it never occurred, you’ve still read those doomsday novels, no? Knowing these zombies could be particularly keen on sound, and here you are, wailing for a moment of morale and grief.” Fu Cao laughed coldly and said, “Wholeheartedly inviting the zombies to make their way, like come on, I’m here, come eat me please~ Was it?”

At once, everyone choked on their voice and looked at Fu Cao in shock.

Even Zhang Zhongmin looked at Fu Cao and was deeply astonished in his heart. Is this the legendary voice that could be heard from a thousand miles seen in a martial arts drama?

Just then, Zhang Zhongmin’s walkie-talkie made a sound.

“Squad Leader Zhang, there’s a group of zombies coming this way at the West Gate!”

“Squad Leader Zhang, there’s a group of zombies coming this way at the southern gate.”

“Squad Leader Zhang, there’s a large group of zombies coming this way at the North Gate!”

Zhang Zhongmin’s felt as if his breath got caught in his chest and he hastily called out, ”Everyone, go back to your dorm room immediately. FAST!”

Apparently, the sound of the walkie-talkie was heard by quite a few people. Leading to a panicked, chaotic run towards the dorm room. Seeing the chaos, Zhang Zhongmin’s headache got even worse.

“Liu Guoan, take one of your men to the East Gate and have a look.” Although Dongdaemun didn’t say there were zombies coming, they couldn’t be careless and had to be on the defensive.

“Xiao Bin, you take two men to the south gate. Teng Wenchong, you take two people to the west gate. The one that’s left, come with me!” Zhang Zhongmin dispatched in a blistering pace, “Stay in touch at all times!”

    “Yes!”

They obviously have a large group of people, over 2,000. But when they went up, it was  just a few of them, even if these zombies were slow, they still didn’t know how to get tired, while them, people felt strained.

Fu Cao almost wondered if she had remembered wrong, had the base really been set up here in the last life? Damn, they’ll be attacked by a zombie horde in no time, okay?

She wasn’t prepared to care much if they were to be overrun by the zombies. The deal was she’d have to change places and go straight to a hotel outside the base when their base set up.

Zhang Zhongmin, who had just taken two steps, turned his head and looked at Fu Cao: “You go to the student dormitory first and hide, don’t run around!”

After saying that, he led the men away.

Even though Zhang Zhongmin was just simulated by Fu Caoyuan’s prowess, he doubted if she was really a martial arts expert. But in the end it was only a guess, and looking at Fu Jiayi’s weak, thin body, he wasn’t in a mood to let someone take a risk just based on his own guess.

Even when it looked like everyone fled, Fu Cao was still standing there unmoving. Then she turned around and recited what he said in her mind.

Looking at his departing back, Fu Cao felt something strange in her heart for a while, before she slowly followed Zhang Zhongmin over in the direction he left.

For the sake of him caring about her for once, she’d take a shot at it. However, just once. Just this once.

As she turned she caught a glimpse of the boy who was still tied to the chair, no one cared about him, nor did anyone even for  once considered taking him away. Alone there, left at god’s mercy; tied to a chair.

Even with the possibility of him not turning into a zombie, if by chance the school was breached, he for sure would be amongst the ones to die early.

Fu Cao brought up two barrels of oil from the kitchen, because school had just started and the canteen kitchen was full, there were still a few barrels of oil left in it.

She lifted the oil and walked over to Zhang Zhongmin’s side.

There wasn’t even a single powerful weapon in their hand, and those short sabers would only help fight in close quarters. Kill a zombie? One or two might not be a problem yet, they thought of defeating a horde of them, are simply nonsense ah!
