Chapter 17 - //The cataclysm//

A few decades had passed since Spencer had officially become the strongest creature on the planet, by claiming the land, sea, and sky as his domain, he now stands at the pinnacle of the current world. in his glory, he grew extremely apathetic to the things happening around him, he was already at the top, having nothing else to strive for, life became bland.

He had tried many things to give himself a challenge. Swimming to the bottom of the ocean to adapt to the extreme forces it holds, jumping from the highest peaks he could find to increase his durability, he had even intentionally got himself struck by lightning from flying above the clouds during storms to strengthen himself.

All of this soon posed less and less of a challenge, until it got to the point that they no longer stimulated his l.u.s.t for power. Spencer was now deeply depressed with how strong he had become.

In a desert landscape, Spencer could be seen walking, with no true destination in mind, he was just a wanderer in a world filled with creatures of massive proportions, traveling the land to find purpose in himself.

His journey had led him to many different landscapes holding many different Species, but none managed to give Spencer a suitable challenge, as he was already at the top. He decided to spend the rest of his time exploring, familiarizing himself with the rest of the planet, and the environment as a whole.

In his exploration, Spencer had come in contact with many oddities he had never observed before, most of which were extremely poisonous plants and giant bugs that would put any modern bug to shame. Upon discovering these plants, Spencer had continuously exposed his body to them to build up his immunity to there poisons, he was now completely immune to any poisons on the earth as it is now.

When Spencer had come across the giant bugs in his journey, he was shocked at first, but he soon grew curious from the hardened carapace they held on their bodies. Upon realizing how durable they were he decided to absorbed a few of them to increase his body's durability.

In doing so Spencer gained a sturdy retractable exoskeleton that he can utilize whenever he needs to, this new exoskeleton was much stronger than the armored scales he had in his demihuman form, it would be formed from his skin hardening into an incredibly dense bone-like layer of armor, within his human or demihuman form.

When he gained this new ability he was excited by what it could do, but he soon became greatly bothered, the armor only made him more powerful than he was before. This would further decrease his chance of finding something that could challenge him.

.

Spencer continued to walk the earth in search of a new stimulus to his existence, at this point, anything would suffice, hunger, happiness, sadness, even pain was welcomed as Spencer grew numb as time moved on. His body only grew stronger with time, further worsening his situation.

He could now be seen above a volcanic biome, now flying Spencer was growing tired of walking, so he had decided that he would use his wings to explore other pieces of the earth.

"Oh, what's that?"-Spencer

Spencer was flying above a biome populated with large mountains and hills. At the biomes epicenter, he Spotted a peculiar looking mountain that was much larger than the others surrounding it, the mountain was releasing an orange hue from its summit, attracting Spencer's attention.

Flying towards the mountain, Spencer landed on the side of its peak and looked over the edge.

"HOT!!"-Spencer

A gust of immensely hot air had burst out of the mountain as Spencer peered over the edge.

"Is this a volcano?"-Spencer

Concluding that this mountain was a volcano at the center of the biome, he became curious once more. feeling the heat from the volcano, an idea came to Spencer's mind.

"Maybe this can finally give me what I want"- Spencer

His eyes glowing in anticipation, Spencer once again looked over the edge of the volcano, observing the molten rock bubbling within its core. He was thinking about what he wanted to do, soon becoming hesitant the longer he looked down.

Spencer spread his wings and flew directly above the volcano.

"I can't miss this chance"-Spencer

Altering his trajectory, Spencer folded his wings and dove into the entrance of the volcano. The immense heat beginning to sear his skin before his body even touched the magma.

Reaching deeper into the volcano spencer closed his eyes as he was approaching the lava.

*Boom!*

A Small explosion range out as spencer descended into the volcano's lava. Spencer's screams of pain could not be heard as the lava began seeping into his mouth and filling his lungs and invading his body, the pain he was feeling was excruciating, he couldn't remain conscious for even a second as his body burned up in the lava, his mind forced into darkness.

//100 years later//

Deep within the soil of a now withered landscape, Spencer was in a state of advanced hibernation from the stunt he had pulled, his body needed time to set everything in place.

*Groan*

A groan could be heard underground in the place where his body laid dormant. Spencer was waking up from his hibernation, opening his eyes he couldn't see anything, so he attempted to move.

*Crack*

*Rumble*

Synchronized with his movements, the sound of rocks breaking and tremors range out, the sound of the tremors was enhanced greatly by his senses, causing Spencer immense pain.

*Grunt*

Spencer winced at the pain and stopped moving.

"What was that?"-Spencer questioned in his head

Going for a second attempt at moving, the ground began to shake in response, the sound of the tremors was again amplified due to his senses.

Spencer was now stuck in a dilemma, every time he moves the ground tremors in response, which is then enhanced by his senses causing him pain.

*Sigh*

Spencer sighed in this realization, not wanting to spend the rest of the day wherever he was, he started to move, trying to ignore the pain from the tremors. He had managed to move into a crouched position after some time and a lot of struggle, once he got into the position he was ready to try and escape from his entrapment.

*BOOM!!!!*

An explosion rang out as Spencer launched himself from underground with a force comparable to a missile, the shockwave causing the soil to burst open violently, debris sent hurdling in all directions.

Escaping his burial, Spencer was now climbing to two thousand meters above the ground, losing velocity his ascension came to a stop and he began to fall back down to earth.

*THUD!!!*

Spencer landed with a heavy thud sinking into the ground, the sounds still being amplified by his senses.

"whats going on?"-Spencer said holding his head

taking his feet from the ground and standing up, Spencer looked around, observing the surroundings he saw nothing but destruction, the once flush landscape was painted black and many of the trees were withered away.

"What happened here?"-Spencer

As he said this his mind was flooded with the memories of what he did and where he was.

"The volcano must have been active" thought Spencer

Spencer let this sink into the back of his mind as he began searching for any signs of life, however, despite his efforts, he found nothing for miles of the volcano.

Spreading his wings he took to the skies to further search for any life. Still not coming across any life, spencer decided to pick up Speed.

After some time had passed, Spencer felt as if he could go faster, he felt that his body was leagues above what it was before, raising his wings, he directed his strength into them and flapped his wings as hard as he could.

*FWOOSH!!!*

Spencer shot forward with immense force, creating an air pocket as he flew above the trees, the shockwaves that followed pulling them from there roots.

.

Two minutes had passed since spencer had been flying at a speed around Mach 5, and he has finally spotted life.

He spotted a herd of massive long-necked dinosaurs, and he immediately flew towards them. As he landed in front of the animals he had spooked them, this caused one of them to swing its tail at Spencer.

This wasn't a good idea.

*CRACK!*

An audible cracking sound rang out while the tail of the creature snapped on contact with Spencer's body, the creature was shocked by the unexpected pain and began writhing in pain from its tail suddenly being broken. the creature was wailing loudly.

"AAAAAAH!!"

Spencer felt a sharp pain in his head, his senses were so greatly enhanced that the wailing was amplified to be comparable to Spencer being next to an airplane jet.

"STOP!!"

Spencer couldn't handle the pain of his senses being overloaded causing him to fall to the floor in pain, the sound driving him insane every second that went by. He couldn't take it anymore, he launched himself at the creature, knocking it over and quickly slamming his fist into the skull of the creature, killing it instantly, no pain, no suffering, just silence...

Spencer immediately spread his wings and flew away from the location at his top speed. Spencer was tired, tired of these creatures, and how their only purpose seems to be driving him to the brink of insanity.

He flew himself into a mountain causing the entire range to tremor violently. Spencer decided to seclude himself until he can adjust to his senses being enhanced to such an unbearable degree, closing his eyes he began to give his body time to adapt.

//1-day later//

*RUMBLE!!*

Spencer came out of his distress as the area began to quake.

Opening his eyes, his instincts began screaming imminent danger, he immediately flew out of the mountain, causing it to collapse. What he saw when he exited the mountain confused him, all the creatures were all running, trying to escape from something.

Spencer didn't know what was wrong, but he knew something wasn't right. All of a sudden Spencer noticed that it was getting brighter and the temperature was increasing dramatically.

Spencer immediately looked up to try and find the cause, what he had seen shook his very being, his body froze, his mind became devoid of all thoughts, fear was the only thing Spencer felt, not since he arrived in this world had he felt such an imminent death.

What he had seen was a massive meteor spanning miles across hurdling towards the earth. He wanted to move, he wanted to fly away, but he couldn't.

*BOOM!!!!!*

The meteor collided with the earth, causing a bone-chilling explosion, vaporizing all life within its range and melting away the rest.

Spencer was forced into hibernation for the next few million years as the earth recovered from this mass extinction event.
