Zenith: Last Revenant

Chapter 99 - 95

"Alright... This should do it!" Spencer hummed with a satisfied expression just as a broken metal table's splintered pieces and shards suddenly began to float and miraculously re-attach themselves returning to their original state.

Within a few minutes, Spencer had restored Bey'on's domain into its previous, pristine condition. The broken and shattered lab supplies were fixed by simply altering their state.

With Spencer's current understanding of the Laws governing Time and Space, restoring simple equipment was just child's play. He didn't need to spend too much effort and everything was just as good as before the two girls made their ad-hoc battle of life and death.

Even the large cylindrical tanks filled with a modified version of the Omonian Mixture was restored to its previous state. Though, with the exception of a few special tanks, they are all but empty. Their residents have perished, the first couple rounds of experiments have all but failed.

It wasn't all hopeless though. In some, very rare cases, some of the Kryptonian specimens have reacted positively to the mixture, and whilst in the end, they failed to produce the result both Spencer and Bey'on have expected, they have still transformed into what they have ended up calling Half-Omonians.

This was actually a pretty interesting discovery, something that made both mad scientists eager to further test on different genomes!

From the hundreds of Kryptonians, only a couple have responded, making the ratio somewhere slightly below the one percentile. Still, those that did, have seemed to have been 'purified' in a sense.

The most obvious change was in their physique. As most of those that Spencer had picked up were either corrupt politicians, or researchers, and overall just a bad seed on the general populace, they weren't that focused on developing their bodies, toning, and chiseling their muscles to perfection.

They were either chubby, floppy or at the other end of the spectrum: scrawny, fragile, wretched. Yet, after taking the first dose of the mixture, their bodies have changed drastically.

For those that have excess energy stored in their bodies in the form of fat, the formula began to burn and rapidly transform this energy before fusing into their cells, causing their muscles to burst with newfound energy and increase both in mass and strength.

For those on the weaker end, the formula supplied the missing energy by consuming the vital fluids their host was submerged in, and similarly to the others, began to cultivate the host's cells.

In an hour, the changes were already visible. Some of the excess fat has vanished, whilst on the others, their bodies now sport a much healthier look compared to the skeletal visage of before.

Though on the downside they have all lost all hairs on their bodies, it was ultimately a negligible price to pay. At least for both Spencer and Bey'on such a downside hardly mattered.

Yet, the most obvious and shocking change wasn't the appearance of the well-developed, toned, and healthy-looking muscles all over their bodies. No, not even the slightly altered gradual shift in their skin tones. No, though it was surprising that each was shifting towards a darker, more caramel-like color.

Though, what was the most surprising is the drastic change in their eyes! Their previous, normal white sclera with mostly black, dark brown, or emerald pupils were now bright blue slits. A deep azure, ocean blue sclera surrounded the dark slits that were their pupils.

In the dark, dimly lit corners, submerged in the dark murky fluid tanks, their gazes that occasionally snapped open conveying immense pain they must be all experiencing would have been rather terrifying for anyone but these two crazed scientists.

Further tests also showed several interesting, newly gained traits, that just made Spencer more and more excited to further test Bey'on version of his original salve on other similarly iconic races and creatures of this universe.

The Kryptonians, or now Half-Omons with Kryptonian origins have also seemed to each develop a unique ability shared across all of them, making both Bey'on and Spencer more inclined to think that a dormant ability was awakened by the formula. A hidden potential that was most likely present in all Kryptonians...

They have awakened to a somewhat similar ability that their lifetime arch-nemesis, Doomsday also had. Whilst his was a mutated version, making him capable of iterative accelerated evolutions that involved a constant, never-ending life and death cycle, sort of similar to Spencer in a more grotesque, twisted manner, these half-omonians have also awakened similar adaptability.

Once their bodies have experienced the type of pain, damage, or trauma, they would passively begin to accommodate it and over time, possibly become immune to it.

As a test, when the subjects were put under severe electric shock therapy, their initial horrified screams gradually turned gentler, more subtle. The initial high amplitude of the signals, their synapses have fired has become steadier, more controlled. .

Whilst Bey'on so far was not successful to test it all the way to the end, she nevertheless believed that this ability of theirs had the potential of making them immune to all forms of damage if given enough time and stimuli.

"This should do it!" Spencer hummed with a satisfied smirk plastered across his face as he looked over the results of his work. In just a few minutes he had fixed everything that had gone horribly wrong.

Though it was questionable if everything was originally the fault of his own or not, Spencer decided not to dwell on such meaningless matters!

There were far more important matters to attend to. The fate of his people, his Kingdom was still not completely resolved. Though the sinners were punished and the threat was rectified, the fact that all that hard work HE had put into these people had gone to waste had not been fixed.

Taking one last look at the now pristine, and sparkling room he smiled and vanished from the room.

In the next instant, he reappeared in the largest library of the Mortifier. In it, sitting in front of one of the desks, the young girl was now in a much better state, once again after so many years, submerged in her favorite hobby, reading.

Though the rough-looking parchment and scrolls were now replaced by a somewhat strange-looking metal device, something that both Spencer and Bey'on called a 'Tablet', she soon surprised both of them by how quickly she adapted to using them.

In just a few hours her initial awkwardness had vanished, she was now swiping just as casually as any teenager would in Spencer's previous life.

Heck, by the speed her eyes have swayed, darting from left to right as he went through the texts, Spencer couldn't help but worry if she would once again break another historical record and become the first human to have ever needed glasses.

Sitting just a few seats away from the now-calm girl, Bey'on was doing the same, reading through some notes on her own personal device.

Spencer couldn't help but grin stupidly as he looked at the unique harmony of the duo. Whilst their first meeting hadn't gone the way Spencer had already hoped it would, it was undeniable that the two had similar tastes, matching hobbies.

Both were bookworms, nerds to their core, and whilst one took it to the extreme and became a crazed, borderline mad scientist thirsting for newer knowledge all the time and endlessly fascinated by Spencer's unique nature, the other hungered for stories just as much.

Though he could have spent probably hours just standing by the side and enjoying the serenity, some matters just couldn't wait any longer.

Walking over Spencer coughed lightly to grab their attention.

"Ladies... It warms my heart to finally see you not lashing out at each other's throats! Much better, right?" He chuckled as he walked over taking a seat between the two.

Putting his arms over the both of them, Spencer pulled them both into his embrace in the next moment, earning a surprised yelp from both sides, which he rewarded with another happy, gleeful laughter.

"Ah, I could spend literal YEARS doing nothing but enjoying both of your company!" He exclaimed with a sigh.

"However, before that, we still have some matters to settle. You ready, little one?" Turning his head to the right, he gazed at Castor, who had turned much more expressive than even just a day ago.

Her frozen, cold, insipid gaze has once again been warmed up by the warmth of the love of family. She could finally reunite with the man he adored and respected the most, and whilst it still pained her whenever she remembered all that she has lost, she could finally see the light, the hope again.

From the brief explanation she was given by both Spencer and the annoying woman, Bey'on, Castor had a rough understanding of his plans. Though she could not process everything, as it was far beyond her level, she knew that Spencer had great plans regarding the survivors of the Kingdom.

The first step would be to gather them up and bring them aboard.

Placing the device down, Castor took only a second as she looked up and with a happy, honest smile nodded at the fired question.

"Uhm! Let's go!" She exclaimed, grabbing onto his hands and pulling it into her embrace.

Whilst Bey'on flinched at this and once again felt strangely conflicted, barraged with emotions she herself could not understand, she did not comment on it. Instead, she looked at him with a much colder gaze and asked in a matching slightly angry-sounding tone.

"Did you clean up everything just as I asked?"

"Yeah, don't worry..." Spencer responded, and leaned closer to her face, causing the girl to tremble. In the next moment, however, she froze when she felt the hot breath gently ċȧrėssing her cheeks with his alluring whisper.

"...I have done everything you asked... dear..." He muttered, reaching closer and closer to her lips, which unconsciously began to pout in response.

Feeling her heart's rapid, chaotic rhythm, Bey'on was growing more and more startled by each passing second. Her cheeks turning bright red from all the pent-up emotion, she unconsciously closed her eyes, and without even knowing was getting ready for the inevitable.

However, contrary to her maiden's heart's expectations, suddenly she heard the faint, but all-too-familiar chuckle, followed by a colder gust of wind.

"Argh... That bastard!" She cursed, looking at the now two empty spots beside him.

Still, her anger only lasted for a short while. Gradually her usual calm, cold demeanor returned, the heat faded from her smooth expression.

"Hmpf! Who cares about him! I have much more important matters to attend to..." She muttered, gradually returning to her usual routine, she picked up her personal tabloid device from the table and began to swiftly type on it.

A few minutes later, she stood up and left towards the direction of her lab, although even though he had said otherwise, from the hastened steps and the strange humming it seemed that there was something else also tucked away at the corners of her heart and mind...

---

The land that was once lush, and bursting with vitality have been turned to a lifeless, dull gray sea of ash. Trails of smoke billowed relentlessly marking that just recently, savage, brutal carnage has taken place over the once densely populated streets.

Following Spencer's snap, all the traitorous forces were instantly destroyed, their bodies vaporized, without giving them a single chance to resist or offer their words hoping for salvation.

No. No matter if they were manipulated, their minds twisted due to the scheming of those Atlantians, in the end, they have all turned against each other. They have committed the greatest of sins that Spencer would never tolerate.

They have become kinslayers.

Thus their judgment was swift and merciless.

It was already lenience on Spencer's part to give them such a swift and painless death. An end they did not give to their fellow brethren when they were hacked, stabbed, or sliced to pieces by those they have once held close to their hearts.

Yet, there was something unexpected happening. From the sea of dull lifeless dust, a strange shape gradually began to appear. A seed-like emerged, which gradually grew, increasing in size.

Eventually, after some time, a body of a man was formed. It was a man, someone that if Spencer would have seen just now would be both shocked and knowing him well enough by now, excited as well!
