Zenith: Last Revenant

Chapter 68 - 68 - Against True Power

Residing in a valley of enormous proportions, Spencer traveled in search of this mysterious powerful being that has taken refuge in this vast valley of creatures. However, this was against his expectations, the search drew on for such a time that he was beginning to deem it as tedious, although his ŀust for a decent challenge continued to drive him further in this search. Spencer crouched down directly above the signal that he was receiving, sending pulses of energy to further observe what he was sensing.

"How far down is this thing? Gotta be at least a few miles..." He spoke in a rather confused tone as crouched down and tapped the floor with the tip of his index finger, wondering why this signal seemed to be so far underground. It intrigued him, but it also annoyed him just as much.

He was growing restless, his last strand of patience waning as he contemplated simply blowing up the valley to force the being to show itself on the surface. As he was thinking about this, he already had his arm outstretched as he channeled and began to form a purple, golf ball-sized energy sphere with enough explosive force to vaporize the valley in its entirety. Coming back to his senses, before he did something soo idiotic, he dissipated the sphere and released an exasperated sigh.

Though his exasperation had not lasted long, as the very ground beneath him began to abruptly tremble and quack vigorously, pieces of the valley's walls began to break off before immediately turning into rubble on collision with the valley floor. Spencer, who was in the very center of this, became alert as he watched the very walls around him tremble. He could sense that the being remained stagnant, but it was still affecting the very stability of the entire valley.

"Things are finally getting interesting!"

Spencer's annoyance from the lack of excitement had rapidly started to fade, quickly being replaced by anticipation for what's to come. Sensing something approaching from the ground beneath, he flickered and appeared above his previous position, observing as a large fissure formed below, kicking up just and blocking the view of what came. Sitting in the air, he watched and waited for the dust to clear, not wanting to rush things and ruin the surprise.

Seeing as the cloud was taking too long to disperse, he simply clapped his hands together and let the shockwave do the rest of the work in clearing away the dust.

"Looks like it's time to get what I've been waiting for!" Rubbing his hands together in a childlike manner, Spencer had an excited grin on his face. Slowly descending to meet this new being and planting his feet on the ground, he walked over to the presence of the figure that had not moved since it had created the fissure, causing his confusion to resurface.

"W͓̽h͓̽o͓̽ ͓̽a͓̽r͓̽e͓̽ ͓̽y͓̽o͓̽u͓̽ ͓̽a͓̽n͓̽d͓̽ ͓̽h͓̽o͓̽w͓̽ ͓̽d͓̽i͓̽d͓̽ ͓̽y͓̽o͓̽u͓̽ ͓̽f͓̽i͓̽n͓̽d͓̽ ͓̽t͓̽h͓̽i͓̽s͓̽ ͓̽p͓̽l͓̽a͓̽c͓̽e͓̽?"

Spencer's confusion was again short-lived as a voice spoke from behind him, almost startling him as he felt no movement in the atmosphere around. He noticed that the presence of the figure had vanished from its previous location and reappeared behind him.

Turning around to observe the Individual behind him, Spencer's gaze was met by a man who was roughly about his height, having the look of an average Fahacalli, although with a slightly larger frame than the ones he has seen thus far. The main keen difference being the lack of tattoos on his body and the same black tail wrapped around his waist that the Elder held. This individual emanated a constant gentle gold aura, floating behind Spencer in wait for him to answer.

Finished with his analysis, Spencer immediately concluded that this guy was at the Divinity Access stage, but from what he was sensing, it could potentially be a stage higher than that. Spencer felt that this person held power leagues above the Elder. The realization had caused him to involuntarily smile before answering.

"The name's Spencer, I just so happened to have stumbled upon this place whilst flying in the area. Who might you be?" He did his best to hide his smile, but he couldn't help himself.

Raising his tone, the man threw a swift punch with a fraction of his power aimed at Spencer's abdomen, hoping to make him more obedient in answering his questions. Thrusting his fist forward, in his head, he expected Spencer to keel over from the blow to his stomach, but contrary to his expectations, he was perfectly fine, the hit only causing him to rub the spot briefly.

"Aww, don't be like that, at least give me your name first!" Spencer stopped smiling but still spoke in a carefree manner.

Suddenly appearing behind Spencer, Aethros sent his golden Fasha saturated fist towards his face, intending to send his head flying, killing him painlessly and swiftly. The collision was followed by a concussive force, blurring the space around for an instant before revealing Aethros pulling his fist back.

"I really hope you were worth the wait!" Spencer sent a punch using only his Fasha Energy and a fraction of his actual strength towards Aethros. His arm abruptly vanished before Aethros eyes, causing a surprised expression to show on his face, all before he was sent rocketing into one of the many formations of the valley.

Aethros's body on impact obliterated the formation into rapidly scattering fragments, leaving a completely bewildered Aethros once again buried beneath the ground whilst Spencer waited for him to resurface. Just as he expected, Aethros vanished from where he was and appeared on Spencer's left in the middle of performing a spinning elbow strike aimed at his temple.

Leaning back to evade the strike, Spencer slipped through the opening that Aethros created by extending his arm and grabbed his wrist. Swiftly placing his arm in place, Spencer slammed it between his knee and elbow, causing Aethros to wince in pain before abruptly vanishing from Spencer's grip much to his surprise and appearing behind him, slamming a golden ball of Fasha Energy into his back.

Feeling a sting in his back, he turned around and backhanded Aethros, greatly increasing the distance between them.

"Please tell me you can do more than that..." Spencer was slowly becoming more annoyed in the realization that this might be less entertaining than his fight with the Elder.

Aethros, who had halted mid acceleration, looked at his bruised arm shocked and concerned. A resolute expression took over as his golden aura covered the bruised area. From a few meters away, Spencer watched as the bruise on Aethros's arm quickly faded.

His eyes were wide in shock as sharp pain coarse through his entire body, causing him to slump over. Not allowing him to recover, Aethros drop kicked Spencer in the back of the neck, launching him to the floor. Before he could land, he received another kick to the stomach, sending his body accelerating up before he was suddenly frozen, all movement ceased.

Aethros could be seen floating next to Spencer, his body glowing in a golden light as he spoke.

"͓̽S͓̽o͓̽r͓̽r͓̽y͓̽,͓̽ ͓̽b͓̽u͓̽t͓̽ ͓̽I͓̽ ͓̽c͓̽a͓̽n͓̽'͓̽T͓̽ ͓̽w͓̽a͓̽s͓̽t͓̽e͓̽ ͓̽a͓̽n͓̽y͓̽ ͓̽m͓̽o͓̽r͓̽e͓̽ ͓̽t͓̽i͓̽m͓̽e͓̽ ͓̽o͓̽n͓̽ ͓̽y͓̽o͓̽u͓̽.͓̽"͓̽ Aethros then continued his onslaught.

To the outside view, Spencer's body could be seen bouncing back and forth frantically in the air as he was attacked from all directions and violently thrown around.

From this endless excessive beating, his body began to adapt to a small extent, fighting against the force keeping him from moving. For a brief moment, he gained the ability to move.

"Enough!!!" Channeling a stupendously large portion of the energy in his body, Spencer imploded before promptly exploding. Releasing his energy out of pure frustration. The blast radius of the explosion continued to evaporate everything consumed as it expanded to a few kilometers in diameter, with him at the very center.

After what would seem to be a few seconds passing, the explosion began to dim and reveal a devastating crater in this once paradise of a valley.
