Mine

I woke up with a blurry vision and once again, I only saw figures.

"Serena? Are you alright?" They asked.

"Yes, I'm okay. Anong oras na?"

I uttered.

"It's 8 am, Serena" Adam answered.

The only thing I remembered is that I am inside a dark room with people wearing lab gowns. I didn't expect that I slept for that long.

A nurse came into my room to give my breakfast and injected some medicines through the dextrose. After I ate, a man entered my room and greeted me with a smile.

"Hello, Ms. Williams. I am happy that you're finally awake and okay. I would like to congratulate you for the successful mission. We will give you a one-month vacation in exchange for this. I believe that you should take a rest after what happened." Mr. Continanto said.

"Thank You, Sir. The mission would not be done without my partner, Adam." I replied.

"We just hope that your leg will be okay as soon as possible" Adam added.

"Thank You for not leaving me behind that night and for saving me" I thanked him.

"You're my partner and I won't let anything happen to you. It's our duty to protect each other" He replied.

"By the way, You won't go home until your leg is not okay ah. If the doctor clears you, That's the time i'll let you go home, Both of you"

Mr. Continanto reminded.

After an hour, Mr. Continanto left and Adam stayed with me. I asked where my phone is and he gave it to me. I looked at my phone and saw the missed calls from my Mom and Dad. I immediately called them back.

"Hello, Anak! Bakit hindi ka sumasagot sa tawag namin? Ano ba nangyari?" Mom answered.

"Mom, I'm okay and wag ka na O.A please? Kalma ka muna. I was shot in my left leg. But no worries, I undergone a surgery last night and kagigising ko lang."

"My God, Anak. Sabi ko sayo mag-iingat ka, Yan na nga ba ang sinasabi ko kaya ayaw kitang pabalikin sa trabaho mo na yan."

"Mom, I'm okay now. Nagpapalakas lang ako at uuwi ako agad pag na-clear na ako ng doctor. They took care of me here at di nila ako pinabayaan"

"Anak, Please take care of yourself and come back to us soon. We're praying for you and we all love you."

"Yes, Mom. Thank you and I love you and I miss you all. Sige na, I"ll rest na rin po uli. Bye!" I ended.

I breathed softly and let go for a moment. I am so glad that I am okay and also my partner.

"How's Mr. Antonio?" I asked.

"He's in the prison now. Don't mind him na, Okay?. I made him pay last night. Mag pahinga ka na lang" Adam answered.

I want to go home so bad. Hindi ko gusto ang feeling na nasa ospital. Naaalala ko lang yung araw na nagising ako na wala ng maalala ni-isa. Pangalan, Trabaho, Pamilya, at Kaibigan, Hindi ko maalala noon. Buti nalang at hindi nila ako sinukuan, They helped me regain back my memories slowly.

"Ms. Williams, Would you like anything to eat for lunch? I'll buy outside."

"A quesadilla will do, Thank You!"

He left me for a while so I turned the television on. Wala akong maintindihan sa lengwahe sa telebisyon kaya pinatay ko nalang.

I used my phone instead and checked some of my social media accounts and read the news back from the Philippines.

Mga 30 minutes na rin ang nakalipas kaya medyo na-bored na ako.

I played a song from my favorite playlist. Reverie by Isaac Gracie, one of my favorite songs. I find it very relaxing so I closed my eyes for a while then suddenly Adam arrived.

"I'm sorry, Did I disturb you?"

He asked.

"No, It's okay. I just rested for a while" I replied.

He gave me the paper bag filled with 3 quesadillas. I ate one and shared the other to Adam. We talked about things while eating.

"So, Can I ask you something?" Adam asked.

"Shoot." I answered.

"Okay, What happened to you three years ago?" He asked

"Haven't I told you the story? Well, My parents said I was involved in a car crash wherein a truck hit the car I was driving. I didn't know what happened before I woke up. I woke up with nothing inside my head but confusion about my past."

"Maybe they didn't tell you the whole story because it's for your own good." He smiled.

I smiled back too and finished what I am eating. The doctor came into my room to tell something.

"Mrs. Serenity Adams, I'm happy to tell you that after two days you'll be discharged from the hospital. Just make sure that you'll take good care of your leg because you have to go to therapy, Alright? I'll see you maybe tomorrow morning." The doctor said.

I am happy that i'll be able to go home in two days and i'll finally see my lovely family.

Adam took care of me during my stay in the hospital. He didn't abandon me even if there is security outside my room.

After two days of being confined, I'll be able to go back to Mexico City. Pero We have to ride a plane to go back to Mexico City.

"Mrs. Adams, This is your medical certificate and all the medications and the therapy are all indicated here. Show this to your chosen therapist and Take good care of your leg" The doctor reminded.

Wow! Gamit ko rin pala hanggang dito ang apelido ng lalaking walang ginawa kundi asarin ako pero at least ngayon okay na kami. Low-key pero happy hahaha. Papunta kami sa airport.

Nasa wheelchair ako hanggang sa makababa ng elevator at hanggang sa makarating sa sasakyan. Tatayo na sana ako nang bigla ko naramdaman ang kamay sa hita at likod.

"Huy! Kaya ko naman na maglakad, Di mo na ako kailangan buhatin." Reklamo ko.

"Ang gaan mo pala noh kahit ang lakas mo kumain." Sagot niya.

"Nagawa mo pa talaga asarin ako ah, Dali Na! Gusto ko na maupo."

Agad naman niya akong binaba sa loob ng sasakyan at ini-ayos ang upo ko at tumabi na rin ito sa akin.

"Sino yung driver?" Tanong ko.

"Si Mang Agusto yan, Driver ni Mr. Continanto, Pinoy yan."

"Magandang Hapon po Mam! Kamusta naman po kayo?" Tanong ni Mang Agusto.

"Ah, Okay naman po ako." Sagot ko.

"Ang ganda niyo pala mam at mukhang mabait pa kayo"

"Mang Agusto, Baka lumaki ang ulo niyan atsaka Mukha lang talagang mabait yan" Pagsingit nito na may ngisi pa.

"Kapal naman oh! Tsaka parang ang lakas ng hangin dito oh sa bandang kaliwa ko" Pagsagot ko.

Tawa lang kami ng tawa buong biyahe. Kwentuhan, asaran, at kalokohan hanggang sa makarating kami sa airport.

"Salamat po uli, Mang Agusto. Sana bukas po ay kayo parin ang maghatid sa amin bukas" Paalam ko.

"Sure Mam, Walang problema."

Sagot nito.

"Sige na po, Mang Agusto. Mag-iingat po kayo pauwi" Pagpapaalam ni Adam.

Inupo na ako ni Adam sa wheelchair at pumasok na kami sa loob ng airport. Inalalayan siya ng security sa airport dala-dala nila ang gamit namin. Nakapasok agad kami sa gate namin. Naghintay ng tatlumpung minuto. Ika- 4 na rin pala ng hapon.

Naka-sakay kami sa eroplano in no time. Inaalalayan ako ng mga flight attendant papasok hanggang sa mahanap namin ang upuan namin.

Habang nasa biyahe ay ginamit ko lang ang phone ko at tinignan ko ang mga litrato ko. Nakatulog ako dahil na rin siguro sa pagod. Nagising nalang ako nang papalapag na nang eroplano. Mga 6:30 na kami ng gabi nakarating.

Sinundo kami ng isang sasakyan at dumating rin naman agad sa hotel na tinutuluyan namin.

"Finally, We're back" Bungad ni Adam pagpasok ng kwarto. Humilata ito agad sa kama. Aba! Nalimutan ata niya na may babaeng pilay na nakaupo sa wheelchair at naiwan pa sa tapat ng pintuan.

"Uhm, Excuse me?"

"Oh Sorry, Daan ka na." Asar nito.

"Bwiset ka, Pilay ako diba? Pano ko makakalakad dyan?!" Sagot ko.

"Ay oo nga pala! Sorry, I didn't mean to." Sabay punta sa akin at tinulak bahagya ang wheelchair.

Tatayo na sana ako para subukan umakyat mag-isa sa kama nang biglang binuhat ako ng lalaking kasama ko.

"Uy! Dahan-dahan naman!!!"

"Shh. Wag ka na nga sumigaw. Baka isipin nila anong ginagawa natin eh"

"Hey! I'm not that kind of girl, Okay?" Sagot ko.

Inihiga niya ako sa kama at inayos ko naman ang higa ko. Naki-suyo ako kay Adam para kunin ang laptop ko galing sa maleta ko. Pumayag naman siya pero mas nauna pa niyang gamitin to.

"Psst! Akin na nga yan!" Sita ko.

"Patingin muna saglit ah. Ang ganda nung babae sa wallpaper mo"

Sinong babae? Andami namin sa picture na yon eh. Mga workmates ko sa Pilipinas.

"Bahala ka dyan. Akin na kasi!"

Aabutin ko na sana ung laptop pero pag galaw ko sa binti ko biglang sumakit. Tumili tuloy ako.

"Shit! I'm sorry. Let me, Ayusin ko yung higa mo"

"No, It's okay. Ano ba gusto mo makita?" Tanong ko.

"I have Filipino and English Movies here, Iba kasi lengwahe dito eh kaya naghanda ako, Wanna watch?" Pag-aya ko sakanya.

"Sure, Bihis lang ako"

I smiled at him and ni-ready ko na

ang laptop ko.

"So, Is it okay if I sit beside you?" He asked.

"Yeah, No problem. Just behave."

Tumawa ito ng mahina at pinakita ko sakanya ang mga movies sa laptop.

"Horror, Comedy, Romance, Action, Ano?" Tanong ko.

"Horror nalang" Sagot niya.

"Aba, Lakas ng loob ah. Sige masubukan natin ang lakas ng loob mo" Asar ko.

Sinimulan ko na ang pelikula at tutok namin pinanood ng palabas na ito. Nasa kalagitnaan na kami ng istorya nang biglang nanggulat sa palabas. Napasigaw yung lalaking malakas ang loob.

"Nagulat lang ako." Walang emosyong sinabi ni Adam.

Mas nakakatakot ang mga sumunod na eksena kaya pati ako napasigaw na rin. Pero, Iba ang kasama ko. BWAHAHAHA.

"Uy! May tanong ako."

"Ano yon?" Sagot ni Adam.

"Lalaki ka ba talaga?" Asar na tanong ko sa kanya.

"Oo naman, Nakakagulat lang talaga yung palabas atsaka diba horror movie yon? Kaya di talaga maiiwasan na magulat." Paliwanag nito.

"Chill man! Isa lang naman ung tanong ko eh" Sagot ko.

"Kain tayo? Nagutom ako eh" Pagyaya nito.

"Tara! Gutom na rin ako. Teka, Anong oras na ba?" Tanong ko.

"Alas-nueve na rin eh. Anong gusto mo?"

"Ikaw?"

"Ako? Gusto mo?"

"Hindi, Tanong yun eh HAHAHA. Bahala ka na, Basta salad lang ako tsaka juice"

Matapos ang tatlumpung minuto, Dumating na rin ang order namin. Nabusog naman ako kahit salad lang ang kinain ko, Ayaw ko din na mapuno ang tiyan ko.

"Kamusta ka naman?" Tanong ni Adam sa akin.

"Okay naman, Sana nga gumaling agad itong binti ko nang makabalik agad sa trabaho" Sagot ko.

"Anong balak mo'ng gawin habang naka leave ka? For sure, Mahaba-haba yun"

"Baka umuwi muna ako kila Mommy at Daddy or Matutulog nalang ako buong araw sa condo ko"

"Hindi halatang babae ka, Alam mo yon?"

"Hmm? Bakit naman?"

"Naalala ko nung nasa flight tayo papuntang L.A. Sinapak mo yung nambastos sayo at pinatulog mo pa"

"Bilib ka na ba sa akin?" Tawa ko.

"Hmm, Dahil sinalo mo yung bala nung nakaraang gabi? Dahil nanapak ka ng lalaki sa eroplano? Dahil hindi ka takot sa horror movies? Oo, bilib na ko."

Sasagot na sana ako pero nagsalita si Adam bigla eh.

"Serenity, Whenever I look in your eyes, I can see sadness. Why?"

"Maybe because I am confused of who I am before. I can't remember anything and that sucks."

"I'll help you, if you let me"

"How? Have we met before?"

"Huh? No, W-We haven't. But I'd like to help you regain your memories."

" Sure, When do we start?"

"Once we get back home, Is that alright with you?" He asked.

"Go! I'd love to, But for now, I got to rest because our flight is tomorrow afternoon and I could use some shut-eye tonight."

"Sure, Pahinga ka na. Goodnight, Ms. Williams!" He smiled.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but I can't because I can hear movements under me.

"Hey, Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, Why? I-I am okay"

"Alam mo dito ka na sa kama, Maluwag pa naman eh. You can sleep here"

"Really? Is that okay?"

"Isa, Mr. Richardson, Kunwari ka pa eh"

Agad nitong kinuha ang unan at kumot niya at lumipat sa tabi ko.

"Behave please? Baka kung ano ang balak mo sa akin" Banta ko.

"Baka ikaw ang may balak sa napakaganda kong katawan, Ms. Serenity Williams?"

"Psh, Wala akong makita. Matulog ka na nga. Goodnight!"

I slept soundly for the whole night. I was really tired yesterday and that sleep was one of the longest.

I woke up surprised because my head is on Adam's c.h.e.s.t, His arms are on my right shoulder, and my arms are on his stomach. I tried to get out of his hands but he held me tighter.

Ang cute pala nito pag tulog. His soft, pale, and handsome face looks so perfect. Ang mga bisig niya na pakiramdam ko ligtas ako pag nandito siya. Inabot ko ang phone ko mula sa kaliwa kong night table.

I took a photo of him and he looks so fine to me. He is perfect, Para siyang anghel pag tulog pero pag gising ay isang bully.

I took another photo of him but this time narinig ata niya ang shutter sound. Shit! I hope he didn't hear it.

"Hey, Good Morning!" Bati niya.

"H-Hi, Good Morning too, Can you let go of me now?" I pleaded.

"Oh, Sorry. I didn't notice."

"I need to go to the bathroom, Can you help me?"

"Yes, I'll just get my slides."

Binuhat niya ako hanggang sa pintuan ng bathroom pero inalalayan parin niya ako papasok sa loob.

"Are you sure that you're okay?" He asked

"Yup, I can walk a little."

He then nodded and closed the door. I started doing my morning routine, I brushed my teeth and washed my face with warm water. I also took a bath and changed my clothes to get ready. I wore my long-sleeved denim dress.

I walked through the door to get out of the bathroom but my legs suddenly hurt. The things placed on the table fell when I tried to hold onto it.

I tried to walk but the door opened and I fell down to the man out the door. Suddenly, my lips and his were together. He kissed me and I couldn't do anything. I felt it brush against mine. It was sunny that morning but darkness came into my eyes when I closed it and it was warm. He stopped when I escaped from his lips. He helped me stand up and I swear I don't know how to react or respond to that.

My heart was pounding not knowing what type of emotion I felt. When I felt that kiss, It feels like it's something that I had before, Something that I once owned, Something that was once mine.
