Chapter 16 – The First World 16

The heavy fog persisted for a whole hour, during which Su Zheyan’s Vitality level dropped from 40 to 20.

He held Chu Shici in his arms, lowered his head, and stared at him intently, as if doing so could bring him back to life.

Although his facial expression remained unexpressive, tears silently streamed down his face, giving a sorrowful appearance.

Chu Shici was both moved and a bit saddened.

Truly, he was the man who had secretly cried under the covers before. He seemed aloof and unapproachable, but in reality, he was a crybaby.

Unable to move, Chu Shici could only chat with the system. “It’s rare to see a male protagonist with this kind of attribute in a satisfying novel. It seems like the era when everything goes smoothly for me is over.”

The system explained to him, [You misunderstood. Throughout the entire story, he has never cried once. His Vitality level is too low, and his emotions are suppressed. The last time he cried was when he felt abandoned by his homeland, and this time he cried because he thought you were broken. You are his only family, and he watched helplessly as his only loved one died while he couldn’t do anything about it. He didn’t cry out loud, but that shows his strong character.]

Initially, Chu Shici didn’t think much of it, but when the system mentioned it, he suddenly fell into silence.

Sensing something was off, the system asked, [Are you okay?]

Chu Shici’s mood was not high. “I’m fine, just reminiscing about the past.”

[Missing home?]

“Don’t be ridiculous. I don’t have a home.”

The dense fog gradually dispersed, and Su Zheyan poked the little robot, his voice slightly hoarse. “The fog has cleared, why aren’t you awake yet? If you keep pretending to be dead, I’ll throw you out.”

Chu Shici tried to move his arms and legs, but unfortunately, he was still in the process of rebooting.

Su Zheyan waited for over ten minutes, but the robot still showed no response. His Vitality level suddenly dropped by five points.

Chu Shici’s heart was bleeding, and the system screamed a few times as black smoke emerged from various parts of the space.

Su Zheyan leaned against the cabin wall, his face filled with exhaustion.

The time he spent with the robot was very short, and he hadn’t even given him a name.

During their time on the Desolate Star, the robot was his only concern. He didn’t discriminate against his beta status and always looked up to him in admiration, as if he weas his deity. Although he liked to peek into his diary, he didn’t dwell on those trivial matters with the little toy.

Every time he returned to the capsule, the robot would run out to greet him and put on a performance for him. With him around, even going home became the most anticipated event of the day.

Su Zheyan held up the robot and gently kissed its little head, considering it as their farewell.

Then he took out a power drill and prepared to make a hole to thread a rope through, so he could wear the robot as an accessory. That way, he could always have the robot with him, wherever he went. They would never be separated.

Chu Shici was deeply moved and on the verge of tears when he suddenly saw Su Zheyan pointing the power drill towards him.

With a trembling voice that was usually cold, Su Zheyan said, “Even though you were only gone for a moment, I missed you so much. If you had never appeared, loneliness wouldn’t be so unbearable.”

As he spoke, he adjusted the angle.

With the buzzing drill bit about to touch the metal casing, a strong will to survive sparked Chu Shici’s potential. He tremblingly raised his hand and weakly shouted, “Wait, I think I can still be saved…”

The power drill, which was just inches away, suddenly stopped and was then tossed aside.

Su Zheyan stared at Chu Shici in a daze, trying to extend his index finger in front of him.

Chu Shici knew this was a chance to stay alive, so he mustered all his strength, lifted his hand, and struggled to hold onto that finger.

Su Zheyan’s lips curled up, revealing a faint smile. It was as if he had suddenly come alive, and the chilling aura that had surrounded him seemed to dissipate instantly.

He tightly held the robot in his hand and let out a long sigh. “You scared me.”

Chu Shici felt a sense of relief, but he was regretting his low Vitality level when he suddenly heard a series of notification sounds.

The Vitality level, which had previously plummeted like jumping off a cliff, skyrocketed like a rocket.

In one breath, it shot up to 43 before finally stopping.

Chu Shici widened his eyes in shock. He whispered, “Yan ge, are you okay?”

Just by saying those words, his Vitality level jumped again with a snap, reaching 45.

The system was an intern and couldn’t handle such extreme fluctuations. It covered its chip and took a sick leave for the day.

Chu Shici was being kneaded and rubbed back and forth by Su Zheyan and couldn’t help but turn his head to ask, “Yan ge, do you really like me?”

Su Zheyan snorted sarcastically. Through the faint light, Chu Shici saw a blush gradually spreading on his cheeks. It wasn’t very noticeable, but it inexplicably made his mouth dry and his heart flutter, as if the evening glow had silently seeped into his heart.

Chu Shici couldn’t help but touch him, feeling that his own face was inexplicably warm.

The unexpected shutdown of the robot seemed to have left a psychological shadow on Su Zheyan.

Chu Shici noticed that he started coming home earlier. Instead of returning at 7 p.m. as before, he now came back at 4 p.m.

After a few days, he decided to put the robot in the pocket on his chest and took him along when going out.

This was the first time Chu Shici went on a trip with him since arriving on the Desolate planet.

Su Zheyan’s first destination was the nearest city, and as soon as he entered, alphas approached him.

He skillfully behead1 one of them and held it in his hand as a “do not disturb” sign. It had a significant effect, and no one dared to stop him anymore.

While Chu Shici was looking around, he noticed a commotion up ahead. Alphas on the main street were flocking towards a spot not far away as if they had smelled meat.

Chu Shici heard Su Zheyan’s slightly skeptical voice, “Omega?”

Continuous gunshots caused panic among the crowd, and before long, a path was cleared through the dense group of alpha criminals.

A group of black-suited bodyguards surrounded an omega who walked out slowly. He was a handsome man with delicate features and a faint floral scent emanating from his body.

The system reminded Chu Shici in his mind, “Here he is, the high-ranking executive of Eternal Life Technology who is crazily infatuated with the male lead, an omega with a rose fragrance.”

The man walked straight up to Su Zheyan and arrogantly said, “General Su?”

Su Zheyan glanced at him indifferently.

The man took out a helmet and said, “The empire is re-registering citizen information, and you are in the first batch.”

Su Zheyan frowned slightly, “You are from Eternal Life Technology.”

“We are in charge of this matter. You are no longer a respected general and have no authority to question the arrangements from above.”

Chu Shici hid in the pocket, stealing glances at the situation outside. He recalled the news he had heard before.

“Eternal Life Technology issued a statement claiming that they never stole citizen information.”

Indeed, they didn’t steal it. Now they were openly snatching it.

Su Zheyan didn’t give any face to the higher-ups at Eternal Life Technology. He completely ignored the man and was about to leave.

The man blocked his path and said, “Mr. Su, please cooperate with our work.”

Su Zheyan looked at the helmet in his hand and a scornful smirk appeared on his lips.

“If you want to deceive ordinary people, go ahead, but I used to be a general, and I know exactly what this thing is. Get out of my way, don’t force me to take action.”
