Chapter 12 – The First World 12

Chu Shici carried a head full of question marks and folded a paper heart for Su Zheyan.

Although Su Zheyan seemed very disdainful of this heart, his vitality increased by 2 points in one breath.

Chu Shici said that he could also fold a thousand paper cranes, lucky stars, small paper boats, and roses.

Su Zheyan ignored him, and his vitality did not increase.

30 alpha corpses lay in the wilderness, and Chu Shici looked somewhat worried.

Su Zheyan organized the loot obtained from searching the corpses, walking back and asking the robot, “What are you looking at?”

Chu Shici pointed to the corpses on the ground, “If they’re not handled properly, will they rot and stink? By the way, how did those 13 bodies from before disappear overnight?”

Su Zheyan let out a sarcastic laugh, “Idiot.”

After saying that, he ignored him.

The system shook its head, [Don’t be angry. Most people who can be male protagonists have some personality.]

“It’s fine. Yan Ge is good to me, and I don’t mind his tsundere and poisonous tongue.”

While speaking, Chu Shici found a coin from the pocket of a corpse, which Su Zheyan had missed while searching.

This was his first bucket of gold he obtained in the other world, even though it was a windfall, Chu Shici was still very happy.

He held the coin and examined it, realizing that the pattern on it was somewhat strange.

When Su Zheyan was counting money earlier, he had also joined in the excitement. The front of the coin had the emblem of the empire, a powerful and vigorous lightning symbol, while the back had the image of the founding monarch of the empire.

But on this coin, the front was entwined with a snake holding an apple, and the back was engraved with an unfamiliar woman.

Chu Shici was puzzled. Why would there be the symbol of Eternal Life Technology’s Eden on the coin? Counterfeit money1?

While he was still in a daze, the system suddenly screamed.

As the smell of blood spread in the air, a black and yellow mist gradually filled the air. Figures formed on the ground and pounced on the surrounding corpses.

In the horrified gaze of Chu Shici, the 30 alpha corpses were completely enveloped by the mist and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

The mist, unsatisfied with devouring the corpses, swirled around Chu Shici.

The mist surrounded them, and Chu Shici dared not move at all. He even felt something biting his hand.

Realizing that it can not eat robot, the mist dispersed from around him.

Terrified, Chu Shici ran back while calling for Yan Ge.

Su Zheyan had been observing the robot through a transparent cover, but upon hearing the shouts, he stood up and extended his arm out of the capsule.

The robot immediately pounced into his palm, presumably scared, holding onto him tightly and refusing to let go.

Suddenly, Su Zheyan’s mood became very good.

Back in the hands of the male lead, Chu Shici finally breathed a sigh of relief. Yan Ge was capable, and being by his side made him feel safe.

Recalling what happened earlier, Chu Shici looked up at Su Zheyan and said, “Did you already know that those monsters eat corpses? And you didn’t even tell me!”

Su Zheyan ignored him and started unbuttoning his shirt.

Chu Shici was truly frightened. He climbed up a bookshelf and questioned him, “You just left me outside like that. I was almost eaten by the mist, and there was something biting me outside…”

His words were interrupted by Su Zheyan’s cold voice, “They don’t eat iron toy robots.”

Chu Shici squinted his eyes and stared at him.

The system asked him, [What are you thinking?]

‘I’m angry, but I haven’t figured out how to vent it. He’s handsome and treats me well, but he’s still living such a miserable life. I want to argue with him, but I can’t find the right words.’

Su Zheyan took off his blood-stained shirt and glanced at the robot out of the corner of his eye.

The little thing seemed angry and was standing with its hands on its hips, challenging him.

Su Zheyan pondered for a moment, then turned to face the bookshelf. He unbuckled his belt and slowly removed his military pants. The robot froze in place, and its little head moved downward.

When Su Zheyan’s fingertips touched his underwear, the robot covered its face and ran away.

Su Zheyan reached out and grabbed it back, and the robot lay stiffly in his palm, its gaze wandering aimlessly.

Sometimes it would sneak a glance at his chest muscles, and then suddenly seem to awaken, tightly shutting its eyes.

Su Zheyan chuckled lightly, “You’re just a machine toy. What’s there to be shy about?”

Chu Shici’s heart was pounding. “I’ve said it many times before. I like men. I advise you to put me down and let me find a place to hide and reflect on my thoughts. My mind is particularly dirty. If you continue to ignore it, I won’t be polite!”

In Su Zheyan’s eyes, it was just a palm-sized iron toy. He treated everything Chu Shici said as a joke.

He reached out and tapped the robot’s head. “You’re welcome.”

Chu Shici’s mind was filled with a bunch of plotlines from romance novels. “Beware of my sneak attack in the middle of the night. By the time the rice is cooked, you won’t have a place to cry. I’m warning you, I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve.”

As soon as he said that, the capsule fell silent instantly.

Su Zheyan tightly pursed his lips, his expression peculiar. His cheeks turned red, as if he was holding back laughter.

The warning had no effect at all. Instead, his vitality increased by 1 point, reaching 33 points.

Chu Shici snorted coldly.

He was being treated as a joke now, but once his vitality reached 80, he would perform a transformation right in front of Su Zheyan.

By then, when the rice…

Chu Shici suddenly froze.

Su Zheyan was undressing in front of him without any precautions because he didn’t consider him a human. If he knew that he was human, would he eliminate him?

With these thoughts, Chu Shici asked softly, “Yan Ge, would you be happy if I could turn into a human?”

Su Zheyan remained silent, but the smile on his face vanished instantly.

“Yan Ge, don’t worry. I will definitely behave as a robot, never indulging in unrealistic fantasies.”

Seeing Su Zheyan’s reaction, Chu Shici became even more certain of his speculation.

If he hadn’t disguised himself as a robot, he would have never had a chance to approach Su Zheyan.

The environment here was too harsh, and Su Zheyan initially had only 5 vitality points. At that time, the male lead preferred the company of an inanimate object rather than a living person.

Seeing the former prodigy reduced to his current state, Chu Shici felt uneasy.

Recalling the information he had heard at the night market, he held onto Su Zheyan’s hand and said, “I heard people at the night market talking about Eternal Life Technology developing the B-to-AO transformation technique. Betas who were banished here for violating military regulations can leave this desolate planet as long as they agree to change their gender. Yan Ge, would you consider transforming into an alpha?”

Su Zheyan furrowed his brow slightly. “What do you mean?”

“I just think it’s an opportunity. This planet is filled with criminals. And becoming an alpha is a safe bet. You won’t be discriminated against anymore in the future.”

As Chu Shici finished speaking, he saw Su Zheyu’s expression turn cold.

Without saying a word, Su Zheyu placed Chu Shici aside with a stern face, changed into clean clothes, and turned off the lights to go to sleep.

Chu Shici stood there in a daze, not understanding why Su Zheyuan was so angry.

Every day, when Su Zheyan went out to search for supplies and returned, he looked downcast. It was a weariness that couldn’t be concealed, unrelated to physical exhaustion. It was the desolation of the barren planet slowly breaking down his spirit, leaving his soul exhausted.

Chu Shici leaned close to Su Zheyan’s ear and whispered, “Did you go to sleep, Yan ge? Do you resist changing your gender because you dislike being an alpha?”

The capsule was quiet, and after a while, he heard Su Zheyan’s voice with a hint of anger.

“Why should I change my gender because of other people’s attitudes? Even though I have been sentenced to exile, I have never resented my beta identity. You don’t understand why I resist changing my gender, but I don’t understand why the Empire insists on forcing us to do so.”

He paused for a long time, his voice trembling slightly, “Only three types of people are exiled to this barren planet: traitors, serial killers, and those who violated military regulations. They betrayed national secrets, murdered dozens of people, and all I wanted to do was defend my country. What have I done wrong to deserve the same fate as them?”

“I once firmly believed that the Empire’s regulations must have their reasons, but now they tell me that I can escape punishment just by changing my gender? So, the focus of punishment is not the violation of military regulations but because I am a beta? It’s simply ridiculous.”

In the darkness, Su Zheyan raised his hand to cover his eyes, “Why should I change my gender? It’s already unfair.”

Chu Shici immediately understood the difference in their thinking.

He was an outsider who had only been here for a few days and had limited knowledge of the world, mostly derived from novels. Most ABO stories revolved around the concept of AOs, who were born excellent and powerful, while the Bs were just background characters.

In his understanding, becoming an A was becoming better. Leaving the desolate planet by becoming an A seemed like a win-win situation.

But for Su Zheyan, being a beta was the gender bestowed upon him by his parents, not a reason for him to be discriminated against.

One was a spectator who had stumbled into the world of books, while the other was an experiential participant. The world appeared in vastly different colors through their eyes.

Chu Shici lowered his head and whispered softly, “I’m sorry, Yan ge. I oversimplified things.”

Su Zheyan stayed hidden under the blanket, not coming out, only revealing his golden crown of hair.

The capsule was quiet, and Chu Shici began to daydream.

Why did the Empire only mention that B to A conversion could exempt one from punishment, but not omega?

Was it because Eternal Life Technology had not yet researched the technology for O to AB conversion, or was it as Su Zheyan had said, that the Empire was actually forcing betas to undergo gender reassignment?

Early the next morning, two spaceships landed on the barren planet.

The ships bore the emblem of a lightning bolt, and several teams of soldiers escorted researchers out of the spacecraft.

The researchers carried instruments and began searching for betas on the barren planet.

Su Zheyan’s capsule was also visited.

Those people knocked on the transparent lid, took out a contract, and asked if he wanted to undergo gender reassignment to become an alpha.

Chu Shici leaned on his shoulder, curiously looking at the contents of the contract.

Su Zheyan didn’t even look at it, and firmly rejected with a cold attitude.

The researchers nodded to the soldiers behind them and turned away.

Four soldiers who had been standing at the back removed their helmets and looked excitedly at Su Zheyan.

One of them spoke eagerly, “General! It’s me, Xiao Liu, your vice-general!”

Su Zheyan paused for a moment, and another person approached, “Don’t worry, I’ve had contact with those transgender individuals from Eternal Life Technology. Each one has an incredible physique, no different from alphas, and they perform well in the military.”

Chu Shici pretended to be a toy, secretly glancing to the side.

Su Zheyans face turned incredibly dark, it was the first time Chu Shici had seen the male lead so angry.

After all four soldiers finished speaking, Su Zheyu spoke coldly, “You also want me to become an alpha?”

Vice-General Liu, the leader, held onto him, “The desolate planet is no place for people to stay, and besides, what’s wrong with becoming an alpha? General, King Wang also wants you to return. The Empire needs you.”

Su Zheyan forcefully shook off his hand, a mocking smile on his lips.

“Today, I give up my gender to evade punishment, and tomorrow I’ll betray my country to save my life. These so-called exemptions from punishment are nothing more than disguised insults to betas.”

His chest heaved violently, anger burning in his azure eyes.

“Go back and tell the king that I disdain being an alpha. Even if I die here, I will not submit to such absurd reasons.”
