Chapter 11 – The Descent of Spirit Qi

Translator: BipBop

In the Heavenly Dao Dimension, countless brilliant, flowery lights flashed and thin chains of laws gleamed in the void. The lake of Origin Energy rippled and shook.

Suddenly, formless ripples swept through the entire dimension. A heavenly consciousness slowly awakened. The dazzling light emitted from the interlocked chains of laws grew more resplendent. A supreme breath engulfed the entire dimension.

“It’s time.”

With that mutter, innumerable shining spots of light appeared, and Origin Energy shot out of the chains of laws, coagulating in the vacuum, filling the entire Heavenly Dao Dimension. A 300-meter tall figure, dressed in a moon-white robe, began to slowly materialize.

A heavenly throne emerged from the Origin lake. Like a floating island, it hung behind the figure.

Mu Yuan sat on the throne. Origin Energy condensed around the body, the laws rippled, and the Wheel of Life loomed behind him. Taoist rhymes and hymns bloomed and flickered around him, concealing his face.

There were carved pictures of living beings kneeling and worshipping on the heavenly throne. The throne was covered in inscriptions. It was dignified. It was faithful.

Mu Yuan lowered his head, and his indifferent eyes penetrated the space, seeing the Yuan World’s continent in its entirety. He overlooked all.

“In a blink of an eye, a thousand years have passed..”

After he had observed the living beings reproduce and explore new territories, Mu Yuan’s consciousness fell into a deep sleep. Only a sliver of his consciousness was left to continue the development of the Yuan World.

The thread of consciousness acted like a part of his brain, managing the world according to its instincts. The brain would wake up Mu Yuan only when there was a world-shaking event.

In fact, the Yuan World’s experiences in the past thousand years weren’t enough to awaken Mu Yuan. Even the war between the beastmen in the north was just a little squabble between ants in My Yuan’s eyes. War was inevitable. It couldn’t in the slightest stir him from his sleep.

As for why Mu Yuan woke up, it was because it was time to put forth his plan.

“Oh, how interesting.”

Suddenly, Mu Yuan shifted his gaze to the World Tree that was rooted in the void. After thousands of years, the World Tree sapling had grown into a World Tree, appearing to cross through the Heavenly Dao Dimension.

Crystal-clear leaves slightly shook, flickering with a radiance from time to time. The World Tree’s thick roots penetrated the void and absorbed the void essence.

“I didn’t think the World Tree could form a consciousness.” The World Tree was about to birth a consciousness.

His interest piqued, Mu Yuan’s gaze pierced through the body of the World Tree and fell on the turbulent, muddled qi in its body.

A faint thread of colorful light was shining in the chaotic qi. Any moment the light would give birth to intelligence, a consciousness.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Mu Yuan’s slender fingers tapped the armrest of his throne, his thoughts moving. In an instant, he realized that the World Tree was capable of giving birth to consciousness due to faith. It was due to the wishes of the living!

Originally, the World Tree’s spirit was chaotic and muddled. On its own, it would take at least tens of thousands of years or even longer to birth a consciousness.

However, the belief and worship of the various races in the Yuan World for a thousand years generated a mass of faith, which gathered in the Heavenly Dao Dimension.

The faith had once belonged to Mu Yuan, but, as a Heavenly Dao of the world, Mu Yuan naturally looked down on power generated from his own sentient beings and just let it gather in the Heavenly Dao Dimension.  He didn’t deal with faith.

When Mu Yuan was sleeping, his Heavenly Dao brain, managing the world by instinct, didn’t stop the World Tree from absorbing the faith. As such, under the absorption of faith, the World Tree began to automatically form a consciousness. A soul was being born.

Thinking of this, Mu Yuan didn’t hesitate in the slightest and stretched out his right hand. His hand crossed through space and yanked the World Tree’s consciousness from the chaotic qi.

The World Tree was an essential component for the growth of the Yuan World. Mu Yuan couldn’t let it give birth to its own consciousness. Once it gains a consciousness, it may begin to sprout ideas of escaping Mu Yuan’s clutches. That would be a problem.

Although even if such a thing happened, Mu Yuan was confident he would easily be able to suppress it, but since he could nip the bud of trouble before it bloomed, he naturally did so.

His Heavenly Dao’s consciousness rushed into the ball of qi in his hands, replacing the World Tree’s consciousness with Mu Yuan’s. Then, he put the now transformed consciousness back into the World Tree’s body.

From now on, the World Tree would be a clone of Mu Yuan, never being able to betray him.

Mu Yuan cast his gaze into the mortal realm again. The Yuan World had increased to nearly 400 million square kilometers, and the ocean expanded several times over. On this expansive land, the living beings of the races fought, seized cities, began revolutions…

“It’s time for a new era…”

In the Origin Valley, the crude thatched huts of the past had long disappeared and have been replaced by dozens of granite temples made to worship the Supreme One.  Symbols, inscriptions, and murals used to worship the Supreme One were written on the temple walls. The murals depicted the thousands of myths and legends of mankind.

Ten miles away from the valley, a city was surrounded by a solid rock wall 10 meters high. In this era, it would be considered a superb first-class city.

The two large words “Origin City” were written on the city gate. The streets of Origin City could accommodate dozens of people walking side by side. Cottages and stone houses stood on both sides of the streets.

Going deeper into the city, there was a marketplace. People came and went to this place, exchanging and trading with each other, creating a scene of prosperity.

Outside the city, farmers toiled under the scorching sun over ten thousand acres of fertile land, their sweat dripping like raindrops.

Humanity’s new high priest, Gu, stood at the gate of the Supreme One temple in Origin city.

Gu could see in the far west an immense mountain peak piercing into the clouds, the Tongtian Mountain. Observing the prosperous bustling of humanity, he stroked his long white beard, his face full of satisfaction.

Sacred and heavenly, the mountain had a legend, which was created by humanity, that the Supreme One resided there. The devout humans attempted to scale the Tongtian mountain, hoping to witness the Supreme One and obtain eternal youth.

So far, no one had ever reached the peak of the Tongtian mountain.

Suddenly, Gu saw a huge golden beam of light, descending from the sky and carpeting the earth. Mystic runes spun and weaved, and Taoist rhymes dispersed through the world, shaking the millions of living beings in the Yuan World.

It wasn’t over. Purple qi blotched the sky and swarmed the Yuan World; lotuses bloomed in the boundless vacuum, exuding a faint, clean fragrance; rhymes and chants resounded through the world, shaking the souls of all. The sun and moon materialized at the same time. Stars bloomed in the sky and burst with light.

Purple qi rose. Lotuses bloom. The chants of Dao resound. The celestial bodies shine. The stars flicker.

The countless beings of the Yuan World raised their heads and stared in shock at this world-changing scene. It mattered not if they were human, beastmen, elemental, or any other race; it mattered not if they were hunting, farming, or killing; all the living beings knelt in awe, kowtowing towards the sky.

Tears streamed down the face of Gu. He reverently bowed on the ground and said, his voice trembling, “A miracle! The Supreme One has arrived!”

“The Beast God has descended!”

“The God of Nature…”

“The Creator…”

….

In the Heavenly Dao Dimension, Mu Yuan sat on his throne. Behind him, the Wheel of Life churned, sending out flickering rays. His majesty shaking the world, Mu Yuan directed his apathetic gaze at the living beings, his heart resolute.

“The time has come. Civilization has prospered. The descent of spirit energy has arrived! I hereby declare this the Era of Cultivation!”

Weng!

After his words fell, the Origin Energy that accumulated for over a thousand years instantly turned into innate spirit qi and then outer spirit qi, spreading throughout the world. They penetrated the sky and earth.

The world’s Origin Energy was now classified by Mu Yuan as a second-grade energy. Chaos qi, purple essence qi, etc. were also on the same level. Origin Energy was second only to void essence, a first-grade energy.

Third-grade energies consisted of innate spirit qi, immortal qi, divine power, etc… Outer spirit qi was considered a fourth-grade energy. Therefore, a drop of Origin Energy could transform into countless drops of outer spirit qi. Hundreds of drops of Origin Energy converted into outer spirit qi, enveloping the entire Yuan World!

A dense aura of spirit qi filled the heavens and earth. It was a miracle. The races felt the world was completely different. Spirit qi poured into their bodies and made their body’s stronger, healthier.

Kneeling on the ground, the high priest Gu, felt his body increasing in energy and strength. It felt like he was ten years younger. His eyes blazed with fanatical reverence. “Is this the energy of the Supreme One? Just touching his energy made my body younger. He is the creator of all, the Supreme One!”

The rich spirit qi transformed the world. The forests absorbed the spirit qi, growing faster, their branches and leaves flourishing. After the wild beasts absorbed the spirit qi, their strength became monstrous and their size grew.

In the depths of the earth, a sea of spirit qi, under the influence of Mu Yuan, congregated into a series of spirit veins and dispersed throughout the Yuan World. Spirit qi merged with ores, which created spiritual ores. Spirit qi merged with the flowers and herbs, which created spiritual medicine.

At the same time, laws poured into the treacherous places of the Yuan World, turning them into terrifying, hellish places of death. For example, the Ice Abyss, which was covered in sheets of chilling ice all year round, plummeted in temperature. Some creatures without sufficient resistance to cold instantly froze to death. They became ice cubes, lifeless.

Mu Yuan overlooked the evolution of the Yuan World and nodded. “The Era of Cultivation has been established. The world is gradually starting to become the world of my dreams.”
