Chapter 14

As soon as the door opened, a gust of wind blew on their faces. Ye Xiao pulled Jiang Xiaotian and threw him towards Mei Bosheng. Then he raised his hand and blew out the zombie who was scratching the door, stepping inside with Xu Li.     

Ten minutes later, all the zombies underground were eliminated, lying all over the ground. They also found their target in the innermost warehouse; the two scientists hiding with five or six staff members.     

When these people saw Ye Xiao and the others, they were all very excited.     

The older Professor Zheng held Ye Xiao's hand tightly: 

"Thank you, thank you so much! Where are we going next?"     

"We have other tasks, so we won't leave Yang City for now. We'll clean up the zombies in this building later, and you all will settle here temporarily." 

Ye Xiao had already thought about it. Professor Zheng was stunned:

"It's fine, I don't really want to part with my experimental equipment. Xiao Wu!" He called out to his young colleague, but saw that he had already put on gloves and started extracting samples from the corpses of zombies.     

This research madman also felt itchy in his heart, and after a few words with Ye Xiao, he also went towards the zombies. 

Ye Xiao also knew about these two professors. Professor Zheng was engaged in life sciences, while the younger Professor Wu seemed to be quite accomplished in drug research. The higher-ups valued these two professors and hoped that they could develop a vaccine in the current situation.     

After that, he went out along with his team members. As soon as the whole team gathered, the first thing they did was to close all the exit doors of the office building, and then began to clean up the zombies.     

Fortunately, it was New Year's Day, and there weren't many people in the building. They didn't care about those who were locked in the room. 

After being busy until late at night, they finally managed to clean the building from zombies.     At the same time, all the living people in the building were rescued, a total of more than 20 people.

These people were all assigned rooms on the second floor.

The eight of them also found a place to rest. It should have been a small foreign trade company before, and the layout was very good. There were two sofas, a rest room with a shower, and a bed. The group slept on the bed, the sofas, and the carpet. Each of them found their favourite position, and lay lazily and casually. Mei Bosheng and Zhong Xiong fell asleep moments after lying down, each snoring like he had to win some competition.

While some attentive ones took turns to take a bath.

"Ah Xiao, come and take a look." Bai Cheng laid out his notebook on the tea table and called Ye Xiao over.

Ye Xiao sat down and put the bag in his hand on the coffee table. It contained all the food they had collected from other places just now. Most of it was instant food like instant noodles, and there was nothing really good in it.

Bai Cheng was watching a surveillance screen, the screen was a bit unclear at night; but the street lights were still on, so it wasn't impossible to see clearly. At this time, the screen showed a picture of zombies surrounding a villa.

"This is the Jingfeng villa area. If I'm not mistaken, this is where Mr. Xu lives."

Ye Xiao frowned slightly: "There are a lot of zombies." 

"I guess they smelled the scent of human beings. The problem now is that we don’t know how long the fence can last.”

Bai Cheng switched several scenes, there were long-range shots and close-up shots, showing that the villa was surrounded by zombies in all directions. The iron gate was also shaking, which made people sweat for the people in the villa.

Ye Xiao asked: "Can we still get in touch with Mr. Xu?"

"Just contacted. At present, there are seven elderly people, four children, two middle-aged women, and one female college student in the villa, including the Xu family, a total of fourteen people."

Ye Xiao frowned even tighter, not because he thought there were too many people, but because such a combination sounded quite worrying.

Bai Cheng said: "Mr. Xu's spirit was not bad. He said that the female college student also has superpowers. It seems that she is inclined towards healing, and her skills are not bad."

He asked, "Have you checked the road conditions from here to Jingfeng?"

Bai Cheng pointed towards an electronic map, "The route has been marked, it's not very far, but not close either, it's about 20 kilometres. There are monitoring devices along the way, so the monitoring screen can be retrieved. Some places are very quiet, some have many zombies wandering around, and some are blocked by cars."

Ye Xiao took the notebook and looked at it carefully while Bai Cheng unpacked a few boxes of instant noodles and brewed them with freshly boiled water from a kettle on one side: 

"Xiaotian and I are looking for the most suitable route, you should also rest for a while. A plan will be worked out before dawn."

"It will be too late until dawn."

Ye Xiao switched back to the villa screen, pointing out a few zombies that looked like they wanted to climb.

These things evolved very fast. When they were cleaning the floor just now, they encountered a few zombies who could go up and down the stairs. The zombies they had seen before would throw themselves off even if they touched a small step.

Ye Xiao had no doubt that if these zombies were given a few more hours, they would be able to climb the wall.

At this moment, a zombie suddenly climbed up on the shoulders of other zombies, grabbed the railing and climbed over the wall, falling heavily to the ground. But it quickly got up again and headed towards the villa.

Ye Xiao sat up straight abruptly, clasping his hands around the notebook tightly. He immediately picked up his phone and was about to call Mr. Xu. Although he knew it would be useless, afterall, how could a room full of people, young and old, be the opponents of such a flexible zombie?

Seeing this, Bai Cheng pushed the instant noodles aside:

He looked at the screen and his face became heavy, "Oops!" 

There was a window on the first floor, which was also the direction where the zombie was heading straight. The window suddenly opened, and a long stick-shaped thing flew out.

Originally, due to poor lighting, the monitoring screen was grey and white, but one end of the thing shone with a pale golden light, and it could vaguely be seen that it looked like an axe. It wiped the zombie's head in an instant, and nailed it into the wall behind it.

Even though there was no sound from the monitoring, they seemed to have heard a muffled bang.

And the zombie that had finally climbed over the wall seemed to be fixed in place. After a while, the part of its head and nose moved away from its original position little by little, like the lid of a pot leaving the pot and falling to the ground. And the zombie that had lost half of its head, just fell down straight.

Ye Xiao: "..."

Bai Cheng: "..."

A certain teammate who passed by behind the two unintentionally said, "Damn!" 

The next moment, a girl's figure could be seen leaning on the window sill in the surveillance screen, looking at the zombie before jumping out from the window.

The posture was very relaxed and unrestrained, but as she landed, she had probably not predicted the height, so she fell hard.
