Chapter 116: Caring for the Sick

After Chang Qing grabbed the lighter, he also felt something strange. Qin Lang didn’t struggle, as if he had deliberately let him grab the lighter.

Chang Qing took a few steps back. After he retreated to a safe distance he asked him, “Are you going to run? It’s not too late for you to run now. There are so many people following you. It’s not hard to take you abroad, is it?”

“You want me to run?” Qin Lang asked him.

Chang Qing said honestly: “No, I’m just making a reasonable suggestion from your point of view.”

Qin Lang smiled and said nothing.

Chang Qing said: “Lu Zheng is here, you can’t run even if you want to.”

As if to cater to his words, as soon as he finished speaking, the door of the warehouse was suddenly opened, and the sunlight leaked in, illuminating Qin Lang’s slightly pale face. He met Lu Zheng’s gaze.

This time Lu Zheng came just in time. The warehouse in the western suburbs was more than an hour away from Lu Zheng’s company, but he arrived at the western suburbs within ten minutes. He probably used other means such as a helicopter to arrive.

Lu Zheng called out Chang Qing’s name and Chang Qing answered. Without hesitation, he ran towards the door where Lu Zheng was standing. Just then, Qin Lang took out another lighter.

Lu Zheng’s face changed, “Qin Lang, do you want to die?”

Qin Lang smiled at him. “I’ve wanted to die for a long time,” he said. “Now I can take you with me.”

As he spoke, he turned on the lighter. After seeing the flames from the lighter, he smiled slightly, raised his hand, and threw the lighter into a box next to him.

Lu Zheng reached out to grab Chang Qing and pulled him into his arms. At the same time, the door of the warehouse was slammed shut by the people Lu Zheng had brought with him, isolating Qin Lang within the warehouse.

At the same time as this was done, an explosion sounded. Like a chain reaction, the explosions in the warehouse continued, and the warehouse’s heavy door shook.

Lu Zheng pulled Chang Qing away quickly. Before they could reach safety, the warehouse door was blown away, and one of the doors flew straight at Lu Zheng and Chang Qing.

At this critical juncture, Lu Zheng pushed Chang Qing away, and the bodyguards behind him also rushed over. The heavy door slammed down on Lu Zheng with a bang.

Chang Qing’s pupils shrank sharply, and he shouted in horror: “Lu Zheng!!”

Everyone ran towards Lu Zheng’s direction. The heavy door completely crushed Lu Zheng and a bodyguard underneath it. Chang Qing could vaguely see traces of blood flowing out.

Lu Zheng was pinned down! Something happened to him!

It was as if a big hole had been opened in Chang Qing’s heart. The cold wind was blowing in, and he felt a strong sense of suffocation. He also stepped forward to help, and moved the door away. Soon an ambulance arrived and sent Lu Zheng, who was already unconscious, to the hospital.

The explosion in the western suburbs was eventually ruled an accident, and news of Qin Lang’s suicide was suppressed. It was never mentioned again. Chang Qing saw Qin Lang’s body, which had been blown to pieces. Even his face was charred and his original appearance could no longer be seen.

The warehouse was stocked with more than a ton of fireworks as well as the illegal ammunitions that Qin Lang had added privately. The explosion had made a lot of noise and a lot of people noticed it. The fervor quickly cooled off after half a day, and no one mentioned it again, let alone anyone from the prison. Qin Lang, who escaped from prison, died inside.

Chang Qing brought Lu Hua and the others to the hospital. Lu Zheng wasn’t seriously injured, but his bodyguard was. He was still lying in the intensive care unit.

Lu Zheng only had a fractured calf and some internal bleeding, so he didn’t even need to be admitted to the intensive care unit. Now he was lying in an ordinary single room ward.

Lu Hua held some flowers she’d picked from her own greenhouse and inserted them into the vase. She lowered her head to look at the phone in Lu Zheng’s hand. Lu Zheng let her see and leaned back against the soft and heavy pillow, looking lethargic.

Chang Qing sat next to the hospital bed, silently opened the thermos and took out the nutritious breakfast carefully prepared by Mother Zhang which was inside.

Lu Zheng looked at the breakfast and didn’t move. “Lu Shi didn’t come?”

Chang Qing said, “Lu Shi didn’t get up.”

Lu Zheng didn’t speak.

Lu Hua looked at them and felt that the atmosphere was a little strange. She thought about it and whispered, “Brother, I’ll go back first. Shall I come to see you at noon?”

Lu Zheng grunted. Lu Hua glanced at him and then at Chang Qing. Seeing that he didn’t stop her, she smiled and said, “I’ll be going then. You have to eat well and get better soon.”

Lu Zheng agreed and Lu Hua reluctantly left the ward.

There were only the two of them left in the ward, but the atmosphere still seemed to be very cold. No one spoke, and Lu Zheng lowered his head and ate his breakfast silently.

Halfway through the meal, Lu Zheng seemed unable to stand the silence. Finally, he raised his face and asked, “Have you eaten?”

Chang Qing nodded, “I’ve eaten.”

Lu Zheng let out an “oh” and didn’t respond.

Chang Qing pulled the chair in a lot, put his hands on Lu Zheng’s hospital bed, and watched Lu Zheng eat.

Lu Zheng lowered his head and glanced at him, and said, “Did Qin Lang say anything to you?”

Chang Qing replied, “No.”

He paused, with a strange expression on his face, “I always felt that he didn’t want me to die.”

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be a delay in igniting the things in the warehouse.

Lu Zheng had some unknown thoughts, and muttered: “Let’s not talk about him.”

Chang Qing had just recalled Qin Lang’s last hug and when he heard Lu Zheng say that, he nodded, “Let’s not talk about him then.”

The two of them fell silent again.

Lu Zheng felt uneasy. He didn’t know how to face Chang Qing. He felt that he was quite useless and always put Chang Qing in dangerous situations. The thought that Chang Qing might be killed by his mistake made him feel unbearable.

Chang Qing hadn’t recovered from the explosion yet, and Lu Zheng was injured because of him. Although the culprit, Qin Lang, was dead, it’s not that easy to laugh like before.

After a while, Chang Qing took the initiative and said, “The doctor said your leg injury isn’t serious. After a few months of recuperation, you will be able to walk on the ground.”

“Hmm.” The doctor had already spoken to him, and Lu Zheng wasn’t anxious.

Chang Qing hesitated for a moment, then reached out and took Lu Zheng’s hand.

Lu Zheng’s hands also suffered some injuries and were bandaged up. The hand that Chang Qing was holding wasn’t seriously injured. It was just a scratch. Chang Qing was holding his finger in a compromise.

Lu Zheng’s eyebrows twitched. He raised the corners of his lips and said, “I should let you feed me.”

As he spoke, he raised his other bandaged hand.

Chang Qing smiled and let go of Lu Zheng’s hand, “Then I’ll feed you.”

Lu Zheng’s eyes lit up slightly, “No need.” He said, reaching out and holding Chang Qing’s hand instead, “Just like this.”

Chang Qing let him hold it, and watched him finish his breakfast before pulling out his hand and packing the thermos up for him.

“What do you want to eat for lunch? Let Mother Zhang make it for you.” Chang Qing asked him.

Lu Zheng thought for a moment then said, “Whatever.”

Chang Qing nodded, “Let Mother Zhang decide. Anyway, she knows what you like to eat.”

Lu Zheng didn’t express his opinion for now.

Chang Qing finished packing, put it aside, and glanced at the time, “…Do you want me to accompany you, or do you want to be alone?”

Lu Zheng said, “I want you to accompany me.”

Chang Qing returned to the chair.

After a while, Lu Zheng said: “I’m sorry.”

Chang Qing was a little surprised. “Why are you sorry?”

Lu Zheng said gloomily, “I didn’t protect you well … I’m still far from it.”

The corner of his lips twitched, “How didn’t you protect me well? If you hadn’t pushed me away in the end, I might have been lying in the intensive care unit like your bodyguard still unable to wake up.”

Lu Zheng reached out to embrace Chang Qing, and buried his face in his shoulder, “Let me hold you.”

Chang Qing reached out and wrapped his arms around his waist. He could smell the scent of Lu Zheng’s body through his nose, which was the fragrance of fragrant laundry detergent. It was light but very pleasant to smell.

Chang Qing suddenly said: “You’re hospitalized now… Won’t you have to spend New Years in the hospital ward?”

Lu Zheng also thought of this matter and said lightly, “I can be discharged today.”

“Discharged today?”

Lu Zheng said: “Let the doctor come to the house, I don’t want to stay in the ward.”

Chang Qing didn’t speak. He just quietly hugged Lu Zheng’s waist.

Lu Zheng moved and said, “… Get into bed and lie with me.”

He leaned back and moved his body with great difficulty to make room for him. The bed in the ward wasn’t very wide, but it was much more spacious than the one in the normal ward. It could just barely accommodate two adult men.

Chang Qing only hesitated for a moment, then obediently took off his coat, revealing the white turtleneck sweater inside.

Lu Zheng watched him lie down in his bed, put his arms on his chest, and hugged him.

Chang Qing paused for a moment, reached out for Lu Zheng’s mobile phone and handed it to Lu Zheng. “There’s no rush to get out of the hospital, you stay in the hospital for a few days.”

Lu Zheng gave a thick “hmm” in a nasal voice, he was a little sleepy.

Chang Qing soon discovered that Lu Zheng had fallen asleep.

Just eat and then go to sleep, are you a pig? Chang Qing thought this in his heart, but there was a hint of gentleness on his face. He opened his arms, wrapped them around Lu Zheng’s waist, and also closed his eyes.

This sleep lasted until noon, when Lu Hua came to bring them lunch. When she saw them lying on the same bed, she wasn’t surprised. She picked at her fingers on the spot, but she still walked over and pulled on Chang Qing’s arm, “Wake up,” she whispered. “I’m here to deliver lunch.”

Chang Qing was awakened by Lu Hua, feeling a bit confused, but soon realized that he was still in Lu Zheng’s hospital bed. He got up and got out of bed. Lu Hua immediately turned her back to him and muttered, “My brother is a patient now. Aren’t you afraid of pressing him down?”

Chang Qing glanced at Lu Hua’s back, smiled, and put on his coat.

Lu Zheng was also awakened by the commotion. He opened his eyes, and rubbed his eyelids with his hand, until he could see Lu Hua’s appearance clearly.

Lu Hua looked at him and called out: “It’s time to eat, get up quickly.”

Lu Zheng didn’t have much appetite. His eyes rolled and his tone seemed to take it for granted, “Chang Qing, you feed me,”

Lu Hua had an unspeakable expression on her face. She watched as Chang Qing opened the thermos and took out the food. Then, he took out the soup spoon and treated Lu Zheng like a baby. He scooped up a spoonful of rice and put a little food on it and sent it to Lu Zheng’s mouth.

Her second brother, continued to eat with a slight smile.

They are a couple now, if she stays any longer she’ll be a light bulb again, so let’s go.

Lu Hua then made another excuse to leave, but Lu Zheng didn’t respond. Instead, Chang Qing looked back at her and told her to be careful on the road.

She was no longer his favorite cub Lu Hua thought a little sadly. Then she picked up the thermos bucket from the morning and left them some space for themselves without looking back.
