Chapter 28 Waiting for Action

The transforming super-heavy truck carrying Sun Cheng continued to move forward, but after only four or five minutes, it stopped again.

Sitting in the driver's seat, Sun Cheng could clearly see that with a tan-colored flash, their vehicle seemed to blend completely into the surrounding environment like a layer of camouflage.

"Here they come again, these damn carbon-based life forms..."

Onslaught cursed, and without him needing to remind him, Sun Cheng had already detected the optical scanning frequency from outer space.

Obviously, Onslaught was a very cautious person. He waited until he felt the optical scanning frequency disappear before continuing to drive Sun Cheng to their destination. It wasn't until the two of them arrived at a location several kilometers away from the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in another direction that Sun Cheng felt the vehicle suddenly lose weight.

The next moment, he noticed that Onslaught had entered a tunnel.

"This is an emergency passage that humans once opened up. It was probably built during past wars and has been abandoned for a long time..." Onslaught explained to him, "I discovered it and modified it so that I could sneak into the base unnoticed!"

Sun Cheng nodded. He had also found information about Onslaught from Frenzy's memory data, but unfortunately, the previous owner didn't know him very well either. All he knew was that Onslaught was once a combat staff member of the Decepticon army and that he had a bit of perfectionism. He always liked to draft a perfect plan before the war began.

Unfortunately, he encountered a group of Decepticon warriors who could never seriously execute his plans. So after rising of Charge and becoming the strategist of the Decepticon army, Onslaught gradually disappeared.

But in Sun Cheng's eyes, Onslaught should be an anomaly among the Decepticons. If it were Baricade, he wouldn't even need to think about it, he would definitely go head-on.

Seeing that Onslaught seemed easy to talk to, he couldn't help but think of something and tentatively asked, "Lord Onslaught, are there really nuclear weapons stored in this base?"

"Yes!" Onslaught's answer was very affirmative, "Starscream once sent the Camera Team to spy on it. Although this is an aircraft graveyard, there are also missile storage facilities inside the base. Among them are nuclear warheads that this country signed an agreement with other human countries to destroy according to regulations. Obviously, those cunning humans secretly kept a portion that wasn't destroyed, and this is one of the storage bases!"

At the mention of nuclear warheads, Onslaught's voice was full of fear.

For the Decepticons, a powerful mechanical life form, it was really good to be able to threaten their existence. Compared to their mortal enemies, the Autobots, the nuclear weapons invented by humans on Earth may pose an even greater threat.

Sun Cheng was speechless. He understood the agreement that Onslaught was talking about. It was probably the "Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms" signed by the United States and Russia.

Obviously, Onslaught had specifically researched this type of information, otherwise he would not have been able to know these things.

"But it's not easy to take human nuclear weapons..." Onslaught reminded him, "They are guarded 24 hours a day, not only is the defense here strict, but there is also a military base nearby that can come to support in the shortest time!"

The vehicle quickly stopped inside the abandoned tunnel. Instead of continuing forward, Onslaught transformed into his humanoid form, sat on the ground, and looked at Sun Cheng with great interest, "Do you know, young man? Starscream told me he needed nuclear weapons, but when he could only send the Camera Team to cooperate with me, I had to work hard to come up with a plan for a quick victory. But not long after, he told me that the Camera Team couldn't come and had to be replaced with Bonecrusher... Damn it!"

Sun Cheng's eyes flickered. He was actually curious too, why Starscream didn't want to do it himself.

Otherwise, with Starscream's strength, coupled with Onslaught and Baricade's cooperation, the probability of stealing nuclear weapons would undoubtedly be much greater.

Unable to understand and too afraid to ask, he could only change the subject on his own initiative, "How many combat aircraft are there in this military base?"

He felt the caution in the Onslaught, which was different from other Decepticons, and believed that they must have done their research.

Sure enough, as soon as Sun Cheng asked, the other party immediately replied, "There are a total of 117 combat aircraft that can take off in the base, and 79 of them are left after deducting the transport aircraft."

After speaking, he looked at Sun Cheng with a hint of liking in his tone. "I have seen your plan, it's very good. Even I, after knowing that you will also join the mission, will probably come up with a similar plan. What are you going to do next?"

This seemed to be a test for him.

"I don't know when Lord Starscream is planning to act, but before that, I hope that the Onslaught will allow me to sneak into the base and investigate the situation to ensure that we can cut off the base's external communication and cooperate with everyone to destroy some of the electronic devices of the planes as soon as the action begins."

After considering for a moment, the Onslaught neither agreed nor refused. "You, the Cassette Legion, should have insect detectors, right? In order to ensure that the plan is not exposed in advance, release the insect detectors before the action begins!"

"Yes!"

Sun Cheng was not disappointed either. 'Frenzy' carried hundreds of insect detectors. These ultra-small spy devices were not only convenient to carry, but also highly concealable. If there were any shortcomings, it would probably be that their detection radius was only about ten kilometers, and the batteries inside them could only last for half an hour.

The Onslaught soon projected a few sets of patterns on the ground, indicating that he should come closer.

Sun Cheng leaned over to take a look. Some of the drawings were abandoned underground facility design plans, and some were aerial photographs of the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. It's unknown where he got them from.

After carefully looking at them and remembering them, he immediately released several insect detectors and flew them towards various places along the abandoned underground passage.

In a short while, clear information about the base's internal facilities, patrol situations, hangars, and ammunition depots were all fed back to his Spy Template.

"This military base has a total of 3345 personnel, including 2214 combat personnel. Equipped with 64 F-15 series fighters, 15 MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, and 18 M2A3 infantry fighting vehicles... The ammunition depots are located at coordinates XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, and can be bombed before the action. The missile storage is located at coordinates XXXX, guarded by a rotation of two hours, with strong electromagnetic interference and detected with trace amounts of radiation, making it impossible to approach..."

After releasing a dozen or so insect detectors in succession and spending several hours, Sun Cheng finally breathed a sigh of relief after mastering the base's facilities and distribution. His confidence in completing the mission increased, and he was just waiting for the action to begin.
