Inside one of the military trucks, during their road back to base, Lin Qiao couldn't help but ask one of the soldiers sitting together with them, "Does the military know how did we get our powers? Are there any special ones?"

A young soldier looked around, and seeing that his companions didn't stop him, he decided to share a little bit of his knowledge.

"I don't think anybody currently knows why humans and zombies started to evolve. Hell, right now we don't even know what caused the Apocalypse."

"Then how about the abilities you know about, are there any differences between them?", asked Chu Lixue.

"Currently the military classifies abilities based on their elements. For example, everyone here has an ability that allows them to move and form things from dirt. That's classified as an earth elemental type of ability.

Inside the base, the elements that are commonly seen would probably be:

Wood – this is a pretty big group of abilities. Aside from obvious examples like moving, shaping and forming wood in general, this group also includes abilities that are Plant or Animal based. So, if a person has an ability allowing her to control mutant plants, that still in the Wood elemental group.

Fire – anything fire-related, really.

Earth – to which we would classify abilities similar to yours. Another example would be a person that can change soil into sand.

Metal – anything related to metal. Whenever it's the ability to control it, strengthen it, form it, it all belongs here.

Water – I think it doesn't really need an explanation. Creating, forming or purifying water can all be examples of an ability with water as its element.

Wind – I don't think I need to explain this one.

Void – this one is pretty interesting. It's a group in which we have all abilities, that can't be classified to another group. Some examples would be Strength ability, Speed ability, Space ability, Increased senses, Healing and so on. Basically, if they don't know where to put in an ability, they would just dump it in here.

Something that I think everyone is aware of, is the fact that every person, zombie, animal or plant that has evolved into an ability holder, will have a crystal nucleus somewhere inside it's body. For humans and zombies, it's usually the head, but plants and animals can have them hidden in different places, depending on their race.

Each crystal nucleus will have its own elemental attribute. So, for example, if you killed a zombie with a Sand ability, his crystal nucleus would be having an Earth element, so it would be most suitable for people that also use the same element.

When a person gains more power, the energy running through her body will also temper her, making her body stronger than before.

Also, the base is working on a tool which would be used to check how powerful different abilities currently are. From what I know it will be divided by tiers.

Normal humans, zombies and so on would be at Tier 0. Only after awakening an ability would they move to Tier 1. After making some breakthroughs, then they could move on to the next tiers. How many of them there are? That I don't know.

What we do know, is that no matter what type of creature we are talking about, each time one moves to the next tier, aside from the additional power, they also gain more consciousness. While it doesn't change much for humans, zombies are simply getting smarter. In the future, it would simply be much more complex to hunt any of them.

Also, the points about plants and animals evolving is just a concept. So far, we didn't manage to find any evolved plants or animals that possessed a crystal nucleus. While they are slowly mutating, nobody is sure how long it will take them, or if they even can awaken abilities as well."

And so, silence enveloped the group inside the car. While some of them already knew some things or at least thought of some possibilities, most of the things they've heard was completely new for them.

'It seems like some of my concepts are actually becoming the truth', Chu Lixue couldn't help but think.

She was slowly becoming convinced, that if zombies could continue to grow in power, then one day in the future, they could truthfully just be classified as different humans. After all, if they manage to recover their intelligence, what's really the difference between them and the humans?

Also, something that interested her was how would they classify people with multiple elements. Unfortunately, she couldn't really ask the question, as that would be similar to just telling people that she's concealing another ability.

After coming back to base, Chu Lixue took her payment for today's work and slowly made her way back home. Her whole body ached, but at the same time she was satisfied with the progress she made today. During work time, she has noticed that the amount of crystal nucleuses that she needed to use to replenish her energy, was lower than the number the rest of the group needed.

Thanks to that, aside from the food stamps that she received, she also happily took 2 Tier 1 Earth Nucleuses home. However, using them would need to wait for another day, right now she just needed to jump into her bed and sleep.
