The Zombie Queen’s Second Chance [Rewrite Ongoing]

Mu Ruqin's face turned dark quickly. Looking at the fat man's face in front of her, a small fire appeared in her right hand, but in the end she managed to control herself.

Zhao Yun looked towards his team's captain and saw that she was still pretty calm. It almost seemed as if Chu Lixue hadn't heard anything that Boss Mao just talked about.

"Oh, so one of our trucks would be considered a downsized payment?" Zhao Yun asked with a heavy voice, a single word at a time.

One of Mao Long's lackies couldn't keep his mouth closed anymore. "Yes, but it's not a problem. We need to help each other out!"

"So Mr. Mao, how much do you think our truck is actually worth?"

Chu Lixue decided to take the reins. Looking at the way this conversation was going, a confrontation probably couldn't be omitted.

Mao Long took a look at these military-grade trucks, a flash of light going through his eyes. "I think these simple trucks shouldn't be worth much. Probably 2 or 3 crystal nucleuses."

"So the 'protection' fee you guys ask for is about 3 crystals?"

"Well, we usually take 5 crystals per week. But let it be my loss this time."

Chu Lixue looked at him and suddenly flashed him a smile.

Seeing that she wasn't speaking anymore, Boss Mao continued to ask, "So, we'll be taking this truck as the protection fee…"

"No, no… It's not needed Mr. Mao." Chu Lixue didn't allow him to finish his sentence.

"We wouldn't want to make Mr. Mao lose money because of us."

When Mao Long thought that the 'naive', young lady in front of him would offer him both of their trucks, he heard her continue. "It just so happens that we had a pretty good outing this time. I can afford paying these 5 crystal nucleuses, no problem!"

The smile on Boss Mao's face slowly cracked. With a weird looking face, he quickly said, "No need to! I know it must be hard for you guys to hunt these zombies. Your group is so big, you will for sure need more crystals. Let's just go with the truck, alright?"

"I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if someone made a loss like that because of me." The smile on Chu Lixue's face was slowly growing. Mu Ruqin and other people from her group were trying really hard to stop themselves from laughing out hard.

Mao Long finally couldn't continue his shameless play. The look on his face turned ugly, with his eyes staring straight towards Chu Lixue.

Chu Lixue and her group didn't back down, staring straight back at them, with some killing instinct seeping through them.

Because of both groups not wanting to lose to each other, a weird staring contest erupted between them in total silence.

Soon, Boss Mao gave up. Looking towards Zhao Yun with anger, he said while gritting his teeth. "Are you sure about this, Leader Zhao?"

"Of course, we wouldn't want Mr. Mao to feel cheated by us."

Mao Long and his subordinated turned their backs towards them and slowly walked back towards their own lodgings. An angry voice could be heard coming from their direction.

"You will regret it soon!"

Mu Ruqin jeered at him. "Sure, we will be waiting for it!"

When Chu Lixue turned back, intending to go back and check on her daughter, Su Chang and Chu Lili made their way towards them.

"Mommy, who were they?"

"Nobody important little princess, why aren't you sleeping?" Chu Lixue went ahead and kissed Lili's forehead, then nose, cheeks and mouth.

Chu Lili's face was slightly covered in Chu Lixue's saliva. "Mommy, don't! It tickles a little!"

"I couldn't sleep without mommy…"

Chu Lixue turned towards Su Chang. Even through they usually slept together, it wasn't to the point where Chu Lili couldn't sleep alone anymore.

Su Chang moved towards Chu Lixue's ear and whispered, "I think she had a nightmare, she woke up suddenly and seemed pretty scared. She also had some sweat on her head."

"Alright, let's go to sleep baby." She said while stroking her daughter's head. "You guys can wait for me here. We'll talk about that fatty when I come back."

Chu Lixue with Lili in her hands went inside one of the trucks. Afterwards, she slowly tried to put her daughter back to sleep, singing her some songs for kids.

In the meaning time, the rest of the group talked about what happened before.

"That fatty must be sick in his head, right?" Mu Ruqin asked people around her. "I mean, I think even little Lili would manage to understand that he was trying to rob us. Does he thinks we're stupid?"

Hu Wei said, "I don't think so. That Mr. Mao is pretty shrewish and looks like a bad person, but he doesn't seem to be a complete moron."

"That's true. I think he probably thought that we were newcomers to the base, so when they came out to us, we would be scared of them and give them whatever they wanted…" Zhao Yun agreed with him.

"Hmph, I still think he's got something wrong with his head. Didn't you hear all the stupid crap he was trying to talk us into believing him? Important group? Providing security? Who? I wouldn't be surprised if he pissed his pants when a zombie comes close to him..." Mu Ruqin, who was still a little frustrated, added.
