"I have a gift for you so that the past never repeats itself."

Chris gently hugged her and whispered, pulling out a round object from his pockets and showing it to her. Of course, he was intelligent enough to keep the pill hidden from others' eyes.

After all, an Awakening Pill was not a commodity that any Tom, Dick or Harry can carry around in their pockets.

"You want to be strong, right?"

"Yes." Cathy nodded resolutely to Chris's words, taking the smooth red coloured pill in her slender palms.

However, some other footsteps began to approach towards them and Chris gently whispered, "Later" and tucked the pill back into his pockets.

"Sister! Are you fine???" Cassie ran and hugged Cathy's waist as she questioned in a hurried and worried tone.

"Cathy?" Max asked in worry as well.

"Mm. I am fine now." Cathy murmered in a low voice and separated from Chris and Cassie as she looked at the new arrivals.

Cassie, Maximus, Arthur, Agatha, Sia and also Janet- the hot chef.

Janet was usually not very talkative as she usually spent her time in the kitchen and her room, so seeing her present today was quite unexpected.

Cathy looked at them and rolled her eyes, ignoring them nonchalantly as she walked back into the room.

Chris also sighed and followed behind her, soon followed by the rest as well.

They all reached into the trashed room, the beautiful lamps were overturned, several shards of glass crunching under Chris's home floaters while the room looked like a crime scene straight out of the movie, lacking the blood of course.

But Cathy ignored their looks and hid under the blankets.

"Sigh, Aunt Agatha, please take care of this." Chris sighed and requested politely, his parents had taught him to be respectful to the elders, and he had zero intention to ignore their teachings.

"Of course, young master." Agatha nodded and ordered some maids to get everything cleaned and fixed while Chris went to Cathy and sat next to her.

"Cath, just sleep tonight, we will all go on an outing tomorrow, okay?" Chris smiled and stroked her hair.

"Go alone brother, I am not in the mood." Cathy murmured back.

"Nope. It's a family outing, you are a must to come." Chris laid beside her.

"I don't want to, please. And sleep in your own room. We aren't young anymore to sleep on the same bed, brother." Cathy chuckled at her own words which she found funny for some reason.

"Oh, twinnie is shy of me?" Chris teased, playfully pinching her cheeks.

"I am not geez, what can you even do to me hah." Cathy giggled again and Chris had no idea how the depressed Cathy suddenly became playful.

Alas, he thought too soon again…

"Why do you have to do anything? If you were just an hour late, everything would have happened… I wouldn't have been alive…" Cathy murmured in a depressed tone.

"Cath, that wouldn't have happened okay? I wouldn't have allowed that to happen." Chris muttered gently.

"How can it not? If you were just a few minutes-"

"I wasn't late though, was I? I came on time. I will always be on time, Cath. Please don't be afraid."

"Mhm… yes."

"So, we will go tomorrow. I also bought you another nice gift haha."

"Another? Brother bought two gift for sister while no gift for me?" Cassie inquired cutely, looking at Chris heartbroken.

"Who said that? Of course I got gift for you too." Chris chuckled and rubbed her head, getting up from the bed and looking at Cathy.

"Cath, I am leaving aunt Agatha with you this time. You better not cause trouble." Chris squinted his eyebrows and threatened.

"Whatever." Cathy rolled her eyes in response, shifting on the bed to face opposite to Chris.

"Thanks." Chris sighed and nodded to Agatha, leaving Cathy's room that was nearly arranged back to normal except some figurines and lamps that Cathy broke.

"Man, tell me in detail what even happened." Max asked with a weird look in his eyes. He considered Chris as his best friend, and despite the rivalry, Cathy was also like a close friend to Max.

So it was quite uncomfortable for him that he had no idea about what even happened that caused such a major change in Cathy.

"I don't really wanna think about it again, Maxxie," Chris sighed and looked at Max who was also looking back with resolve in his eyes, "Fine… I will tell you."

Since Max wasn't backing down, there was no option but to reveal the truth, mixed with some misinformations of course.

Afterall, Chris couldn't just say that a devil suddenly possessed him, killed everyone and this, Chris won.

That would be plain stupid.

Chris started by telling about Caster and the scheme and then told about the SOS message, finally reaching the part about the Red-light district.

"A B-Grade awakened? How did you even survive that?!" Max widened his eyes in shock.

"As they say, attack is the best defense. I started the maniacal fire, killing most of his goons till only some guards, he and I remained." Chris began to tell about his fake fight, "But he was too strong to take out normally. So I pretended to be injured so the pompous arrogant bitch could order his goons to bring me closer to him."

"However, that's when I shot my eyes open and stabbed him." Chris shrugged at the end seeing Max's eyes that looked at him in disbelief, "I know it sounds unbelievable. But honestly, it was just a stroke of luck that I survived."

"I mean… yes, it sounds too perfect and lucky to be true…" Max decided not to voice out his doubts.

"Lucky? Hey, Max. Tell me one thing in this whole deep shit that can be considered lucky. And don't you dare say shit like we are alive." Chris glared, "If my sister being kidnapped is lucky, I wish for eternal misfortune."

"Chill buddy, I am just saying it's bit astounding. And believe it or not, it's quite a miracle you guys are still alive. And I am glad that miracle took place." Max patted Chris's shoulders to soothe him a bit.

"Sorry, I just need a sleep." Chris sighed and got up from the sofa, moving towards his room with his wide back hiding his face filled with grief.

"Good night bro." Max shouted from behind, waving towards Chris but Chris just gave a curt nod and closed the door of his room.

…

*Peep* *Peep* *Bang*

Chris's fist connected with the annoying alarm clock, making the poor clock break apart, some of its cogs bleeding from its cracked metallic frame.

With a yawn, Chris got up from the bed and looked at the wall clock, it was currently 7:30 am, while he had to reach the university by 8am.

"I should take a leave today…" Chris murmured, pulling out his phone and texting in the group that he wouldn't come today due to yesterday's incident.

He had no obligation to inform about that, but he felt it was a good choice to text so that his friends wouldn't worry about him.

Chris got up from the bed, wearing his floater he walked to the bathroom to take care of his morning routine.

// Layla: Okay, don't be shy to ask any help if you require alright?

Estea: Yep! And we will try to see if we can visit your house.

Tom: Well yes, I do miss the VR games.

Chris: Thanks but no need to come guys, I am planning to take Cath on a family outing to cheer her up. But if you wanna come to play, the house is always open lol.

Claire: Oh my, the dumb little girl is being smart for once. Have fun.

Tom: Tsk, what's the point of coming to play if u are gonna run away scared.

Chris: Sure. //

Chris tucked his phone back in his pockets after he was done relaying the message to his friends.

It was quite nice to have such caring friends like these, however, Chris was unable to bring himself to enjoy it.

How could he when his dear sister was suffering from PTSD? Her PTSD wasn't full blown yet, however, the doctor had indeed given some statements.

The major of which was… trust issues. Cathy would naturally no longer be able to trust people like she used to, how could she when her stupid trust resulted in such mishap?

*Splash*

Chris splashed some water on his face, pulling himself out of the thoughts as he sighed and dried his face with a towel, murmuring, "I hope the outing goes as perfect as planned…"
