Ch 44 - Newest Top Celebrity x Washed Up Film Emperor: He’s Learnt

On the first day of the year, Lin Sui gazed at the snow outside the window, covered by a quilt, and looked at the ticket-booking page on his phone, clicking on the ‘cancel’ button.

He forgot a very important thing, he shouldn’t have promised his family yesterday that he would be going back today.

Even though that thing made it so that it wasn’t as rough and painful as in the first world, it was still only half of the advantages of the human cauldron constitution.

The human cauldron constitution had a very strong ability to restore itself after the event, but this modern body without any spiritual qi did not.

Although Yan Qin had already bought the appropriate medicine from the self-service pharmacy, he still had a feeling that was as if he’d eaten too much.

Lin Sui touched his stomach, it had been slightly bulging before, but now it had already calmed down.

Actually, Lin Sui was quite surprised. He thought the System would try to teach him a lesson, but it hadn’t done anything.

It seemed to have already given up and stopped bothering, and was in a state of silence and unresponsiveness.

For a moment, Lin Sui wondered whether the System was running out of energy. If so, how would it return with the remnants of Yan Qin’s soul? But after thinking about it for a bit, Lin Sui calmed down again.

If the System were really running out of energy, he was the first thing it would abandon, it wouldn’t abandon the Son of Fortune, Yan Qin.

What he had to do now was still to temper Yan Qin’s destroyed soul to make him even stronger, as for the System, he just had to wait and see.

The door opened and closed, and Yan Qin came in carrying food.

The base of his ears felt slightly hot as looked at Lin Sui’s sober and calm eyes, and he became more and more embarrassed when his line of sight fell on Lin Sui’s shoulders and arms.

“You’re not too well, let me feed you.”

Yan Qin had bought seafood congee, Lin Sui wanted to eat lighter food nowadays.

His eyes were gentle and emotional, like a vast and tender sea.

Lin Sui nodded non-committally, accepting Yan Qin’s service.

His throat was moistened by the warm, watery congee, which relieved the dry and uncomfortable feeling. Even though he was thirsty, he only drank a small sip of water after washing his face and rinsing his mouth, and he didn’t drink any more.

Probably because of too many side effects, even drinking water left him with a strange bitter taste.

It had also been convenient for Yan Qin. He’d genuinely swallowed that capsule and hadn’t been clear-headed at all, so in his haze he’d regarded Yan Qin as the Yan Qin that had been with him for hundreds of years.

At that time, he wasn’t that proud. After all, he was requesting something of Yan Qin, and the special period of the human cauldron constitution was fast approaching, he couldn’t care about anything, so he just swallowed it.

The seafood congee was delicious, Lin Sui ate over half a bowl before stopping, and Yan Qin didn’t mind finishing the rest, then tucking Lin Sui into the quilt.

“What do you want? How about the lead roles in two movies?”

In the chilly, snowy day, his voice was particularly cold and fickle.

Yan Qin looked towards the beautiful young man reclining on the bed, restraining the tenderness in his eyes and turning it into a somewhat cold and deep look.

Of course Yan Qin knew their relationship couldn’t really be the same as in the past few days. After Lin Sui sobered up, in light of his temperament, he was even prepared to be met with Lin Sui’s violent rage, however, Lin Sui didn’t react as unreasonably as he imagined, but his calmness also sent cold shivers from the bottom of his heart.

Those brows and eyes were still the same, and those lips were still the same, but they no longer held the same delirious, ambiguous affection.

Yan Qin thought this matter would be vaguely covered up and they would tacitly agree not to bring it up, which would have been better than this. Lin Sui’s casual attitude, as if he were giving him something, made him embarrassed.

His current arrogant and unreachable behaviour just made Yan Qin recall his passionate and demanding appearance all the more.

Lin Sui saw him not say anything, and spoke coldly: “I’ll add a variety show. Don’t get too greedy, you aren’t worth that much.”

He looked as if he’d dealt with this a thousand times before, wanton in his arrogance, but Yan Qin had also questioned him due to his passionate delirium.

He’d answered Yan Qin, calling out his name.

“You’ve misunderstood, I’m not a person with a clearly marked price. If this is compensation or an expression of gratitude, then I only have one request.”

Yan Qin’s tone was flat and calm, gazing attentively into Lin Sui’s eyes and pulling open the quilt.

He grabbed Lin Sui’s ankle, and spoke in the same casual tone: “Let’s do it again.”

Danger lurked in every corner underneath the calm, dark river.

“Let go.”

Astonishment and anger appeared on Lin Sui’s face, and he confronted Yan Qin.

He was actually very surprised, he hadn’t expected Yan Qin would say that.

Surprisingly enough things were going pretty well, but he really couldn’t continue right now, his body was too tired.

“If you really dare do that, I—oh…”

It was indeed true that timely snowfall foretold of a prosperous year.

Lin Sui had already sent a message to his family, so this time they weren’t interrupted by a phone call.

Yan Qin appeared to be taciturn, but he knew a lot.

He had read a lot of books and watched a lot of movies to polish his acting skills, so he had a lot of knowledge.

Sometimes, there wasn’t only one way to get to paradise. It could be through the legs, or the feet, or the hands, or any other place.

Yan Qin was especially interested on the butterfly-shaped blue birthmark on Lin Sui’s body. In his eyes, Lin Sui was also like a beautiful blue butterfly.

It’s just that he was poisonous, so it made him hard to capture.

But at this moment he’d been snatched into the palm of his hand, powerless to struggle.

Yan Qin wanted to kiss him, just like he had done in the midst of their delirious entanglement, but he was relentlessly avoided.

He silently kissed Lin Sui’s heart, his eyes carrying a desolation even he was unaware of.

If some things were absolutely fair, then there should be compensation for as much as was owed, but Yan Qin took pity on Lin Sui in the end and stopped on the night of the first day of the year, not going as far from the first to the third.

When Lin Sui woke up, Yan Qin had already left.

“He’s learnt.”

Lin Sui’s expression was gloomy and unclear as he sneered.

Before Yan Qin left, he’d gone to check the security system.

He’d directly looked at the security cameras in the most luxurious suites, since, in accordance with Lin Sui’s temper, he would not have wronged himself when booking a room.

Not many people checked in these past few days, and the people who booked rooms on the top floor were few, so Yan Qin quickly discovered the situation based on the time of that night.

Going back on the timeline of Lin Sui being drugged by about forty minutes, a woman came out carrying a backpack who was wearing a mask and hat, so her face could not be seen clearly. Yan Qin checked and found out that the room had been booked by a lady surnamed Fu, but it hadn’t been Lin Sui’s manager Fu Nai.

But he couldn’t find anything else when he looked for more clues.

When Lin Sui went to the surveillance room, he discovered Yan Qin had come, and wasn’t surprised at all.

He also investigated this and left the surveillance room wearing a facemask.

When he put on this act, he had to go all out, so when Lin Sui had planned this, he’d already made thorough preparations.

If Yan Qin had insisted on sending him back to his room on the night of the 28th, he naturally would have seen a person waiting for him and a piece of equipment.

If he had pursued the matter till the end, then naturally the ‘evil mastermind behind the scenes’ would have appeared.

Absolutely watertight, it had been thoroughly planned out.

Lin Sui returned to Jinghzhou, but didn’t immediately return home, instead he rested in one of his properties for two days and handled the affairs that had piled up in the meantime while taking care of his body. He issued a few orders and only returned to the Lin home when he felt no more discomfort.

This time, the original owner came from a single parent household. His father had died from cancer at only 30 years old.

His mother and godfather really spoiled him due to the loss of his father, so they brought out the original owner’s stupid, poisonous, and arrogant temper.

Lin Sui brought gifts and flowers for his mother and gave her his New Year’s blessings, then saw Yu Linxi laying down in his house.

“Lin-ge! Happy New Year!”

“Happy New Year, why did you come?”

It was currently the fifth day of the year, not the first day for visiting.

“I came looking to play with you, who would’ve imagined you’d be out for so many days?” Yu Linxi hooked his arms around Lin Sui’s shoulders and sat next to him, handing him a fruit and asking with a conflicted face, “I heard you left two days ago and cut off all of Yan Qin’s resources? Why?”

Yu Linxi was a fan of Yan Qin’s movies, he knew Lin Sui and Yan Qin had filmed a movie together and was very happy, after all, one of them was his godbrother and the other his favourite idol, but after he heard the rumours from these past few days he couldn’t help but come over and ask.

Before Yan Qin had the accident, he’d peacefully terminated his contract with his former employer, making him a free man, and it was said that he didn’t even have a manager or assistants. After he accepted the role in Liu Buqun’s movie, many management companies had become interested, after all, he was a veteran actor who’d won the Best Actor award twice, and his appearance was also outstanding.

Yan Qin had sent word that he would consider it after he finished filming the movie, and so once the movie was finished many management companies were planning on contacting him, but Lin Sui had spread some news a few days ago and those with intentions to work with him didn’t take action anymore.

Yu Linxi looked at Lin Sui’s face, carefully asking: “Did he do something to make you angry?”

“That’s something between me and him, don’t get involved.”

Lin Sui’s face was covered in frost, and remembering how his whole body had been used made him feel even more annoyed.

This was the area where adults were less controllable than young men, but that was the consequence of raising a large wolfdog.

Yu Linxi still wanted to say something, but thought about it and let it go.

He would wait until Lin-ge got over his anger and then think of a way to help.

Apparently Lian He was about to sign Yan Qin, but the opportunity was gone. It was a real pity, but it also showed the other party wasn’t really serious, since they wouldn’t have given up like that if they’d really thought Yan Qin was worth signing.

Lin Sui could roughly guess what Yu Linxi was thinking about, but didn’t really care.

In the original story, Yan Qin would be signed by a company called Lian He. The company’s state in the industry was pretty good, and the resources they gave to Yan Qin in the initial stage of his comeback were also not bad, however, their plan was not to raise Yan Qin up, but rather to use him as a stepping stone to raise other people up.

This was another cannon fodder, or best to call them a minor villainous power, after the original owner. Lin Sui was not planning on letting him go according to the original, rather than letting other people bully Yan Qin, of course it was better for him to do it himself.

He’d long since planted that seed, and now he just had to wait for it to sprout, flower, and bear fruit.

After Yan Qin received the news that they might not be able to work together halfway through negotiations, he wasn’t surprised.

In light of Lin Sui’s temperament, it would be strange if he didn’t do anything.

All collaborations came to a halt, and he was in a state of suspension, but Yan Qin wasn’t too worried. In short, Lin Sui wouldn’t stop “The Stand-in” from being screened, and he also wouldn’t have them cut all of his parts and film it again.

Yan Qin had been tidying up his house these past few days. He placed a button in the centre of his display cabinet, it looked very incompatible along all the films that surrounded it, distinct and obtrusive.

Yan Qin quietly admired it for a moment, then took out his phone and got on the software he hadn’t logged on to for quite a few days.

There were several messages on his back-end, all coming from the same person.

@It’s Suisui Ya: Sister, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Why haven’t you said anything in so many days?

@Swallows Return To The Forest: I’ve been busy these days, nothing happened, thanks for your concern.

@It’s Suisui Ya: That’s good! If there’s anything troubling you, you can always talk to me. After all, you’ve also listened to me ranting so much hahaha!

Yan Qin hesitated for a moment, he seemed to be more at ease with those things he couldn’t talk about with outsiders when separated through the internet.

@Swallows Return To The Forest: Actually, there is something.
