Ch 28 - Second Generation Ancestor x Illegitimate Child: Changing the Game

Lin Min watched the strange and ambiguous atmosphere of the two people not too far away, wanting to say something but hesitating.

It was only when Yan Zhou said those words that she suddenly realised she and President Yan had actually met before.

He was that young man being kept in the villa. At that time, she had said it was inappropriate due to Lin Sui’s irreverent words, but the young man being described by those words was particularly calm. She’d thought it strange at the time, and now that she looked at him, she felt like the feeling she had then hadn’t come out of nowhere.

If she hadn’t seen today’s scene, she probably would have been worried that Mr Yan Qin would want revenge on Lin Sui for the humiliation he received during those days, but seeing him now, she actually wasn’t worried.

Yan Qin was clearly not bending over backwards to curry favour with him, he didn’t even have an expression on his face, but seeing him with his head bowed, wiping Lin Sui’s fingers clean, made people feel how solemn and cherishing he was being, there was even a slightly astonishing and completely natural feeling of allegiance and esteem. The atmosphere between them was self-contained, no one else could step between them.

As expected of her brother.

Lin Min wanted to go say something to Lin Sui, but Yan Qin was keeping close to him and even followed Lin Sui into his room.

Lin Min thought about it again, and decided she would talk to him tomorrow.

In any case, it was his brother’s decision and he was an adult, he knew what he was doing, so she didn’t have to interfere.

When the door to the room closed, Lin Sui sat on the edge of the bed, looked at his shoe, and knit his brows.

Yan Qin didn’t need him to say any more, he took Lin Sui’s shoes off and obediently took them to the bathroom to wash.

That was Yan Qin’s own thing, so naturally Yan Qin had to dispose of it himself.

When Yan Qin carried the leather shoes out, Lin Sui was half-laying down on the bed looking at his phone, and the sea breeze that came in from the window blew his inky hair into disarray.

The clothes on his body were loose, revealing a vast expanse of delicate, porcelain white skin.

Seeing this scene, Yan Qin couldn’t stop his heart from going soft. It was strange, he’d never been with Lin Sui like this before, but he always had a vague feeling that Lin Sui seemed to have once waited for him to return, holding a lamp in the darkness of the night.

They must have been extremely close then, like a pair of lovers.

Yan Qin laughed softly on the inside, even if it was a foolish fantasy in a dream, thinking about it still made him happy.

“Young master, will you bathe?”

“Why, you haven’t stayed long enough and still don’t want to leave?”

Lin Sui didn’t lift his eyelids, speaking while sending Gao Jing a message.

Yan Qin’s eyes darkened, and that bit of joy in his heart also disappeared. Knowing he had not succeeded yet, he spoke softly: “Then I’ll leave.”

The expression on his face didn’t change, but it gave off a slight sense of grievance.

Unfortunately, these charming glances were cast at a blind person, and the master laying down on the bed remained as cold and hard as iron, completely unmoved.

Yan Qin left reluctantly, and his expression returned to what it was before as he left through the door, cold and reserved.

What took place on the boat did not need to wait for them to arrive at the port tomorrow, the news spread throughout all of Jingzhou in the middle of the night.

At home, Yan Wenhao was so angry that he threw a vase and cursed out his oldest son’s idiocy, as well as his wife for not teaching him.

“You only make me lose face!”

Madame Yan shook with anger, sharply cursing: “Yan Wenhao! You’re so cruel! Our son was bullied and humiliated by the Lin family and that illegitimate child, he almost died, and you’re actually blaming him!”

“If it weren’t for you all bullying Yan Qin like that before, how could our Yan family have developed like this now? You have one less illegitimate child, he’s already on the family records, he is my son! Fortunately, he isn’t at odds with me and is still willing to be there for the Yan family, do you know how much profit he can bring me and the family?!”

“And everything was almost ruined by that moron!”

“Yan Wenhao, is money more important than the life of your son?! You bastard!”

The crying and clamour was so loud, the entire family was disturbed by the pandemonium.

Yan Wenhao stormed off in an irritated huff, heading straight for the comfort of another woman.

When Yan Qin saw the message on his phone, he gave an order to a woman on the other side of the city.

Yan Wenhao had more than one mistress, and he’d recently been favouring a beautiful feisty young woman. It’s not like he hadn’t thought about having another kid, after all, Yan Zhou was clearly an idiot and he really wanted to have a new heir, but unfortunately he had not succeeded yet.

Yan Qin thought it was time to add fuel to the fire.

The next day, the Pearl arrived at port.

Everyone waited to watch the show, after all, the disturbance yesterday had been so devastating. Lin Sui had directly slapped the Yan family in the face, so no matter what they said, the Yan family should ask for an explanation.

People were waiting left and right, but they weren’t waiting for the two families to quarrel, instead, they were waiting for an apology sent in the Yan family’s name.

This time everyone knew who was in charge of the Yan family, and some worthless people had already been turned into sacrificial pawns.

This was within Lin Sui’s expectations, the Yan family’s old bastard was cold-hearted and indifferent, how could he worry about blood relations? In his eyes, profits were more important.

Unfortunately, Yan Zhou couldn’t see this clearly, or perhaps he couldn’t face it directly even if he somewhat thought so. A moron is a moron, and he would not be content with his own mediocrity and failure.

Yan Zhou persevered until the end in wanting to find something to inconvenience Yan Qin’s project, and he can be said to have committed all manner of crimes.

Yan Qin never made a move to strike back, cooly watching his smugness from the sidelines.

Lin Sui wasn’t interested in this battle where the outcome was already decided, so he continued living the life of a carefree young master.

His bad reputation was even worse than before, and no one disturbed him.

It had already been a time since Lin Sui saw Yan Qin, but he couldn’t stand it when other people turned and mentioned him in his presence.

“Are you very interested in him?”

Lin Sui held a pair of scissors and gestured at a flower stem, seemingly considering which stem would be more suitable to cut.

“I’m not interested,” Yu Xiang immediately answered, shaking his head like a rattle-drum. His face revealed a bit of doubt, and he spoke in hesitation, “I just heard….. you two were close, I’m just curious about Lin-ge’s friends, that’s all.”

Yu Xiang had gone to Shanghai because his maternal grandfather fell ill a few days ago, and when he came back he’d heard a lot of slanderous gossip.

Those people even said Lin Sui and that man called Yan Qin had that kind of relationship. Yu Xiang angrily questioned them, but every single one of them spoke vaguely, so he’d run here with Lin Sui in a fit of fury, wanting to know the answers.

“He’s not someone you can be curious about.”

Lin Sui’s hand moved slightly, and a branch with a leaf fell to the ground with a snap.

“Don’t be angry, Lin-ge, I won’t ask.”

Yu Xiang spoke in a hurry, all the courage he had when he came retreating under Lin Sui’s gaze.

Lin Sui was actually not angry at Yu Xiang, but he wasn’t happy when other people asked him about Yan Qin.

In the last world, Yan Qin was an extraordinarily gifted and hardworking sword cultivator, and there were plenty of immortal fairies and young lords wanting to become Dao Companions with him, and they would unavoidably point out and criticise Lin Sui’s identity as a human cauldron. There were even some Tea Masters that tried to seduce Yan Qin by befriending Lin Sui.

There was one young lord whose appearance was somewhat similar to Lin Sui, who treated him with respect and brought good things to share with Lin Sui from time to time, even speaking out on Lin Sui’s behalf in public. Unfortunately, this kind of hypocritical friendship did not work on Lin Sui. At first, he couldn’t see what this person’s aim was, only treating it as a joke, so he didn’t refuse the conveniences that were freely delivered to his door. But he didn’t expect that the person hadn’t been scheming against him, but rather against Yan Qin.

While asking Yan Qin for advice on cultivation methods, he gave him medicine pills and a few other gifts. Yan Qin was used to repaying people’s kindness, so he protected that person a few times and sent gifts in return.

When Lin Sui found out about this, he was almost laughably angry at that person, a spell cultivator, asking a sword cultivator for advice on anything.

He was also not angry with that person, he simply let Yan Qin see him leaning against that person’s body with his clothes slightly dishevelled. That time, don’t even mention returning his gift, Yan Qin nearly killed him with his sword.

Lin Sui’s face had a smile on as he remembered the past.

Yu Xiang thought he was happy again as he watched him smirk.

Not far away, Yan Qin watched this harmonious scene through the fence, dark clouds gathering in his eyes.

The chauffeur looked at his boss who suddenly had him continue driving, staring blankly for a moment and driving the car away.

Not long after, news spread in Jingzhou that the eldest young master Yan had been sent abroad, and that Madame Yan was clamouring for a divorce.

Most people only knew the surface, but these who understood a little bit about the situation knew that the eldest young master of the Yan family was too stupid, going as far as joining hands with the Yan family’s competitors, sabotaging ongoing projects, and leaking classified data in order to deal with Yan Qin.

Yan Wenhao almost spat up blood from anger, and sent Yan Zhou out of the country that very night.

As for the wife clamouring for a divorce, he simply brushed it aside.

However, things didn’t end here. Very soon, news that Madame Yan had gone to tear the mistress apart and beaten her into miscarrying flew around the social circle.

Yan Wenhao immediately fell ill from anger, he’d been hoping for a son for too long, and although he’d already admitted the current Yan Qin into the family records, Yan Wenhao still did not feel completely at ease with him. After all, Yan Qin hadn’t been raised by his side, and he was worried he was making bridal clothes for someone else1.

But before he found out his lover was pregnant, she had miscarried.

The young lady told him their child was dead weeping with a pale face, and Yan Wenhao really had the urge to kill someone, but at that moment, the hospital told him that his sperm count was now weak and he may never have another child again.

With blows coming one after another, Yan Wenahao’s illness became more serious, and it was so strong that soon he couldn’t get out of bed.

The Yan clan needed someone in control who understood the situation, and Yan Wenhao was forced to delegate power, putting his hopes on Yan Qin.

Yan Qin did a far better job that he could have imagined, it was so outstanding that, once he returned to the company after recovering from his illness, the shareholders were hoping he would voluntarily resign.

The Yan clan changed hands between morning and night, and Yan Qin, who was able to gain a foothold by relying on Tian Qi, rose to a new level of strength. Following this, with the cooperation from various companies, his status rose like a tidal wave, and he became unstoppable overnight.

Lin Min was glad that she and Yan Qin were partners, not enemies. Perhaps it had been due to the relationship with his younger brother that, when the other party was considering cooperation, he simply didn’t consider other similar companies but rather decisively chose their Lin family.

When Lin Sui heard his sister happily talking about these details over the phone, a little pity emerged him his eyes.

Lin Min had no idea that the Lin family was just Yan Qin’s next target.

Yan Qin wanted to get him, so he naturally wanted to make sure that large tree he was leaning on would be unable to protect him. This was why Lin Sui had chosen not to take charge of the Lin family long ago.

Lin Sui didn’t warn Lin Min. If he let Yan Qin know his plans had already been seen through, Yan Qin would pick another way to strike, and when that time came the Lin family might be in an even worse situation, so he wouldn’t let that happen.

On September 1st, the 26th day of the cooperation between Yan Qin and the Lin Family, Lin Sui received a message from Gao Jing.

Wu Qiu had cracked the operational framework and logic of Tian Qi’s Blue Butterfly System which had been adapted to their holographic online game research, and they were already able to replicate it.

Lin Sui especially called Wu Qiu to the villa to applaud him for his work.

“Great job.”

Lin Sui stroked Wu Qiu’s head, and even allowed Wu Qiu to affectionately hold his hand.

“If it makes the young master happy, I’m willing to do anything.”

As far as Wu Qiu was concerned, Lin Sui was his great benefactor who provided him with food, clothes, education, and the things he liked. He would be willing to do anything as long as Lin Sui told him to.

Lin Sui smiled as he looked at the young man in front of him, generously spending the afternoon playing video games with him and having dinner together, then having people take Wu Qiu away when night came.

As the moon climbed up into the sky, Lin Sui took a bath as usual. The water was warm, and the rose-scented essential oils made him drowsy.

When he opened his eyes again, the sight before his eyes was not that of his familiar bathroom.

A man stood in front of the window, he couldn’t make out his face in the darkness, only seeing a scarlet light flickering between his fingers, and a pair of eyes that was deep and cold.

“Young master, we should change the rules of our game.”

The man’s voice was rough and hoarse, he stubbed out the cigarette and the room sunk into darkness as the only light source disappeared.

The thick darkness covered his emotions, those emotions he felt when seeing Lin Sui indulging and treating other people well.

It was an ugly jealousy, both freezing cold and burning hot, and an uneasy fear of being abandoned.

Lin Sui was a bit surprised, he touched the necklace on his neck and revealed an extremely strange smile under the cover of the night.

A pale flush rose on his passionate eyes, giving them a morbid beauty.

The last time this happened, his organ2 went out of control.
