Chapter 12: Would She Become Crazier After The Beating?

When Su Tao heard that, she raised her head and smiled. Then, she said in an annoying manner with arms akimbo, “Yes, I lied to you. Well? Beat me to death if you dare.”

After she said that, she moved closer to Xie Yuntang and continued, “You aren’t a man if you don’t beat me to death!”

The incident last time had already traumatized Xie Yuntang. Seeing Su Tao like this, his face turned paler. Without caring about her pants legs anymore, Xie Yuntang scooted off upon reaching the river bank. Perhaps because he was too anxious, he even fell down.

Su Tao felt a lot better. Bullying Milksop really lifted her spirits. She shouted, “Xie Yuntang, don't forget the fish, or I’ll get you at night!”

Su Tao turned and saw that Su Zhi, the fool, was still catching fish. She walked over and slapped his head angrily. “Come on, let’s go home and eat fish.”

Su Zhi’s eyes almost popped out at the mention of fish. He gulped and a look of understanding flashed across his face. “Sister, did you snatch Brother Yuntang's fish?”

Su Tao choked for a moment. She didn’t snatch it. She saved Xie Yuntang and he was merely thanking her.

She patted Su Zhi on the head angrily. “I didn’t snatch his fish. I saved him and he was thanking me. Keep your mouth shut, or I won’t share the fish with you."

Su Tao was most worried about Su Zhi spilling the beans. He had caused her to suffer a lot of beating after all.

Su Zhi shut up and nodded obediently.

Xie Yuntang kept his word, and after a while, he brought over a fish that weighed three to four pounds. The fish was still alive and its tail kept wagging.

Su Tao's eyes were fixed on the fish. She wished she could swallow it raw on the spot.

She looked around and no one was around. She grabbed the fish, stuffed it into her clothes in front of Xie Yuntang, and then hugged the fish tightly. “Will your parents beat you?”

Xie Yuntang blushed and he quickly lowered his head. “My parents won't beat me. Since I’ve given you the fish, I'm leaving.”

The only fish pond in the village belonged to the Xie family. It could rear hundreds of pounds of fish every year.

Su Tao was a little jealous. Why was he able to not get beaten when he gave someone a fish, whereas she would get beaten for even eating a mouthful of rice?

Comparisons were odious.

She resisted the urge to ask Xie Yuntang to beat her to death. Her priority was to eat the fish.

However, she couldn't just let Milksop have peace of mind. She blinked her eyes and said meanly, “Xie Yuntang, I haven't told anyone about you peeing.”

She added, “I saw it clearly. You have a mole on your thigh.”

She did see it clearly. The only merit that this unfortunate girl, Su Tao, had was good eyesight.

Xie Yuntang instantly blushed, his neck turning red. He was a little flustered. “Do-don’t tell... anyone.” He took a few steps back after saying that.

“I have the freedom to speak.” Su Tao didn't say anything else. She merely wanted to tell Milksop that she had something against him.

If he fretted about something all day long, it would make it easier for him to turn into a villain.

In the Su family’s residence.

Su Tao pulled Lin Sanzhu sneakily to the small kitchen and Lin Sanzhu cursed angrily, “Wretched girl, what crazy antics are you up to now?”

Su Tao had gotten used to being scolded these days. It would be scary instead if Lin Sanzhu didn’t scold or beat her.

Su Tao closed the kitchen door and lifted the cloth covering the pail.

Lin Sanzhu's eyes widened when she saw the content. “Where did you get this...” Fish.

She abruptly covered her mouth before she finished talking.

Su Tao laughed and explained in a low voice, “Xie Yuntang fell into the ditch today. I pulled him up and he gave me a fish.” After saying that, she couldn't help but gulp.

Of course she didn't say that she tricked the fish from him.

Hearing this, Lin Sanzhu believed it. Apart from the Xie family, there was probably no one else who could give a fish. She whispered, “Does your grandma know?”

“No, she doesn’t. I brought it in secretly. How should we cook it?” Su Tao rubbed her hands gleefully. She was about to drool at the thought of pickled fish and spicy fish.

She could finally eat meat.

Lin Sanzhu felt a little worried. Her mother-in-law would definitely find out if the fish was cooked over fire. She shook her head and said, “You can't eat it. Your grandma can smell it.”

Su Tao, “...”

She pulled a long face. Had she known earlier, it might have been better to trick a few pancakes from Xie Yuntang.

“Mom, I want to eat it.”

Seeing Su Tao’s hopeless look, Lin Sanzhu pointed at Su Tao’s head angrily. “You will be disliked by your in-laws for being greedy. Let’s go and have lunch at the main house. We’ll cook in the toilet after dark.”

Su Tao, “...”

As long as she could eat the fish and the fish wasn’t caught from poop, she could accept it being cooked in the toilet.

Su Tao had thought that Lin Sanzhu was exaggerating when she said that Mrs. Su-Qian had an acute sense of smell. Su Tao didn't expect her to have a nose as powerful as that of a dog.

They went to the main house at noon for lunch. Mrs. Su Qian passed by Su Tao and stopped suddenly. She sniffed, grabbed Su Tao, and asked sharply. There’s a fishy odor. Did you buy a fish secretly?”

Su Tao, “...”

This wretched old woman really had an acute sense of smell. She had washed her hands. She shook her head vigorously, “No.”

She wouldn't admit it even if she was beaten to death. It was her fish!

“I don’t believe you! Su He’s wife, follow me to search Su Fu’s house. I’ll beat you to death if I find it.” Mrs. Su-Qian didn't believe it. The fishy smell was so strong. If she hadn't touched a fish, why would there be such a smell?

The face of Lin Sanzhu, who was standing beside Su Tao, paled. She quickly cursed, “Wretched girl, I told you to bring the fish here. Why didn't you do so? Hurry up and bring it here.” She pushed Su Tao hard after saying that.

Her mother-in-law was a shrewd person. She could find the fish even if it was hidden underground, let alone in a barrel.

Then, Lin Sanzhu quickly explained, “Mother, this wretched girl saved the Xie family's child today, and the Xie family gave her a fish. I wanted to bring it here to cook just now. This wretched girl must have forgotten it.”

“I don't think she forgot. I'm afraid you wanted to cook it secretly. Hah, Su Fu’s family, how dare you hog the food? In that case, your family should skip lunch today.” Mrs. Su-Qian hit Lin Sanzhu’s arm.

It hurt, but Lin Sanzhu endured the pain. “Mother, we didn't. We really didn't. She forgot.”

“Get lost! I've raised her for nothing.” Mrs. Su-Qian pushed Lin Sanzhu away. She cursed and went to get the fish.

Su Tao's eyes were red with anger. Now, the fish was gone and they even had to go without food. She couldn't take it anymore. She was about to chase after Mrs. Su-Qian when Lin Sanzhu grabbed her. “Wretched girl, you can't even do a trivial matter like this well. Hurry, admit your mistake to your grandma.”

Soon, Mrs. Su-Qian came in with the fish. “Aren’t you something? You tried to hide such a big fish. Su He’s wife, take the fish and kill it. I’m going to teach them a lesson. They will rebel if I don’t take them in hand.”

Then, she walked over with a stick.

Lin Sanzhu knew they were going to get beaten. She quickly pushed Su Tao and signaled her to run away. “Mother, it's really... Ouch...”

She was hit by the stick on her back.

Although Su Tao didn’t have a daughter’s affection for Lin Sanzhu, she could still see that Lin Sanzhu treated her quite well during this period of time.

She quickly shielded Lin Sanzhu and was immediately hit by the stick. She gritted her teeth in pain. Wretched old woman! Just you wait, I’ll kill you in the future.

Su Zhi cried in fright. He opened his mouth and bawled loudly.

The commotion in the Su family attracted the attention of the villagers. When they saw that Lin Sanzhu and her daughter were beaten again, they sighed for a while.

“Qian Cuihua is really mean. She treats her second child's family so badly.”

“Exactly. She beat them every few days. In my opinion, both her sons are her flesh and blood. Even if she doesn’t live with the second child's family in the future, there’s no need to treat them so. Isn’t it good to have one more person to be filial to her?”

Across at the Xie family’s house, a small figure stood by the door frame. His cute face was slightly wrinkled. Su Tao seemed to be beaten again...

Would she become crazier after the beating...
