The Talentless Inheritor

Chapter 79 - Breaking The First Limit (3)

Sebastian stepped forward. His legs faltered but they didn't give out.

All he had to do was buy time until Amy got back from fighting the Adept. He could feel her energy along with the Adept's clashing.

"This kid's barely standing."

"Let's go kill him already. He's already killed several of ours."

Sebastian only had a few weapons on his person left.

All at once, the assassins leaped forward to rip Sebastian apart.

Sebastian took a deep breath and took out the last vial in his vambrace and crushed it. Immediately, a thin mist spread around the area and enveloped both Sebastian and the assassins.

"It's poison!"

"Tch."

The assassins retreated to a distance once they realized that it was poison but most of them had already breathed it in.

Sebastian used wind to blow away the poison around his head.

If things went well, then Sebastian could've won with just that one vial. Unfortunately, assassins, even if they aren't the best, were still assassins. They were used to traps.

Those who had breathed in the poisonous mist drank antidotes. They could immediately identify which plant the poison had originated from.

Sebastian dashed. If he could take a weapon from the weapon shop before, then he could do it again.

"Hold on, that's not allowed."

Just as Sebastian stepped through its doors, he heard the voice and then an explosion.

"AGH!"

It was an explosion at close range. Sebastian managed to block with his arms but he had burn wounds on several parts of his body.

'I can't see...!'

The blast had also taken his left eye's sight. Unless he looked at a mirror, he wouldn't know if the damage is permanent.

"Hak..."

Sebastian coughed repeatedly. The smoke and dust from the explosion made it harder to breathe. He didn't have a weapon on hand and his energy was running empty.

'If I run out of energy, it'd be the same as being a sitting duck.'

Without his energy strengthening his body, Sebastian was at most, above average in terms of strength and durability. But, the most important part would be that he wouldn't be able to wield his spear or any other weapon for that matter. His fists would do nothing against their blades.

BOOM

Just as the assassins cornered him, a figure crashed beside him in a cloud of dust.

"Amy...?"

"Sebastian..."

She was wounded all over but she didn't mind her injuries at all and crawled over to Sebastian to check on him.

"Y-you're burned..."

"One of them set an explosion and got me."

"Do you two think you have time to chat?"

Amy took Sebastian in her arms and covered him. A shield of light covered the two of them as an explosion threatened to shatter it.

"Amy, don't...!"

Sebastian tried to wrestle free from her arms but she wouldn't let him. Her back was facing the enemies while Sebastian was nestled in her bosom.

Amy didn't care about his opinion and continued to brave the attacks. They wouldn't be able to escape.

"Hurry and finish them off already."

The Adept had arrived. He had several wounds and there was even one deep wound in his abdomen but other than that, he was fine.

The Adept raised his arm and slammed it down on Amy's shield.

"Ahak!"

Amy coughed up some blood as the shield filled with cracks.

A shield wouldn't normally elicit something as severe as coughing up blood but Amy used some of her life force to keep it from breaking. It directly damaged her life.

"Amy! Stop it!"

Sebastian tried to use whatever remained of his energy but it was futile. There wasn't even enough to light a match.

His eyes turned red both from anger and helplessness.

The Adept raised his hand once more and the shield showed even more cracks. It looked as if it would break from the slightest touch.

Amy coughed up more blood and nearly collapsed. Her eyes and nose had blood dripping from them as well.

Just as the Adept planned to hit the shield once more, Amy raised Sebastian's eyes to meet hers.

"I'm sorry... I couldn't protect you... Let's meet again in our next life..."

She smiled with tears and blood flowing out of her eyes.

SHATTER

The shield broke but the momentum of the Adept's fist was killed. Amy lost consciousness and fell into Sebastian's arms.

"A...my?"

Sebastian called out. His eyes weren't looking at her at all.

"Hey, Amy?"

Without receiving a response. Sebastian clenched his fists so hard that his palms began bleeding.

"You...! You...!"

Sebastian couldn't see anything but red. The blood rushed into his head. He stood up with Amy in his arms and glared at the Adept.

"...!"

'I'm... scared? Me?'

The Adept couldn't believe it. A boy's glare froze him in fear. It was the same for his men, all of them paused as if they were being held at knifepoint.

"YOU BASTARDS!"

Sebastian roared and a fierce gale forced the assassins to block the wind with their arms.

"Wind?! The knights must've arrived!"

Their comrades should be keeping the knights and the response team from the academy at bay so they normally wouldn't have arrived this quick.

Sebastian set Amy down as he felt a fierce burning pain on his left hand. It felt as if a thousand red ants were crawling their way up his arm and biting every step of the way.

But, he didn't care. He couldn't care less about the pain biting at his arm. He couldn't care less if his arm itself was ripped off from his body right now.

At this moment, only one word flooded Sebastian's mind.

Kill!

'KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL!'

Sebastian put down Amy by a wall and then ran toward the assassins.

"This kid is crazy!"

Sebastian was covered in burn wounds and his eye was even out of commission. There were shards of glass digging into his flesh but he still decided to run towards his death.

The Adept was the nearest. He hardened his body with his ability and prepared to kill Sebastian in one attack.

'Ring of Haste!'

The world slowed into a crawl. Sebastian's speed multiplied and he arrived right next to the Adept in an instant.

'He disappeared?!'

The Adept couldn't see Sebastian who was in his blind spot, but the other assassins could.

"Multicolored Flame Thrust!"

A spear of flames appeared in Sebastian's hand and he stabbed it into the Adept's abdomen.

"Agh!"

Sebastian was wrapped around in a flame with two colors. The spear was made from two colored flames as well. A blue and an orange color coexisted around Sebastian as he lodged the spear inside the Adept.

"Go to hell!"

Sebastian summoned wind around his arms and thrust the spear in further.

"You brat!"

The Adept raised his arms and slammed them Sebastian's back.

"Urk!"

It hit and Sebastian's bones cracked from the impact. However, it didn't stop him. Not when he was this mad.

"Just... die!"

Sebastian summoned flames from the tip of his spear and scorched the Adept from the inside. It was a gruesome sight.

"..."

All of the assassins were left frozen in fear. Sebastian pulled out the spear made of flames from the Adept's body and looked at his enemies from within the multicolored flame.

"D-demon!"

One of the assassins called out and the rest began trembling. A few of them even lost their footing and fell down.

Sebastian took a step forward while bathed in flames. Each of his steps left behind a burning multicolored flame.

"AAGH!"

"KIHAK!"

"HIII!"

Once the knights arrived, what they saw would stay with them for the rest of their lives.

A young boy covered in blue and orange flames holding a spear that adorned by the same vibrant hues standing amongst bloody and charred corpses. The deep pool of his one eye were clearly reflected even inside the flames and sent a chill down the knights' spines.

"Amy..."

Sebastian mindlessly walked towards Amy. The flames covering his body slowly receded causing the knights to gasp. His body was tattered beyond belief, if he weren't moving, they'd have been convinced that he was one of the corpses as well.

"She's here! Get the medic!"

The knights quickly found Amy and tried to give her first aid but before they could even touch her, the dying flames on Sebastian's body burned brighter than before.

"Don't... touch her!"

Sebastian's voice was hoarse and it was filled with killing intent as well. The knights unconsciously backed away from Amy.

"Sebastian!"

Maria arrived and stood a ways away from Sebastian.

"She's safe but she needs help. Put down your weapons and calm down!"

"Amy...!"

"Mister!"

Sebastian's advance halted. His eyes slowly regained their shine as he looked at the source of the voice.

"Sana..."

"Mister!"

Sana called out again and wiggled herself out of Maria's arms.

"Hey!"

Maria tried to grab her but Sana was too fast and arrived in front of Sebastian.

"Mister..."

"Sana..."

Sebastian slowly regained his clarity and fell down on his knees. The flames around his body disappeared along with his spear.

"Mister, you're hurt..."

Sana was sobbing as she embraced Sebastian.

"It's alright... Those bad people won't take you away..."

Sebastian struggled to speak but he had to comfort Sana.

"Big Sis is hurt too... Fueh..."

Sana sniffled and embraced Sebastian tighter. She didn't want to see them like this. Her c.h.e.s.t tightened when she saw them so gravely injured.

If only she could help take their pain away. Sana wished from the bottom of her heart.

"What the..."

Maria involuntarily spoke out. Sana and Sebastian were covered in a green light.

As if someone had heard her desperate plea, Sana awakened her ability. Sebastian's dire wounds rapidly began closing. Even his eye that was practically scorched off began to show signs of recovery.

"Such potent healing..."

Maria let out a gasp as she neared Sana and Sebastian. In no time at all, Sebastian's wounds that seemed like they wouldn't recover even with the help of healers disappeared.

After all Sebastian's wounds were closed, he collapsed. Elliot appeared just in time to stop him from collapsing on Sana.

"Sana, can you also heal Lady Amira?"

"Sana will try!"

Sana wiped her tears on her arms and ran towards Amy with her little legs. Amy's wounds disappeared without a trace as well. The knights couldn't find any words to use the miracle that had happened in front of them.

"Sebastian did this? Unbelievable..."

With both Sebastian's and Amy's lives secured, Elliot looked around the area. It wasn't just one or two building that were destroyed, the entire block was decimated.

The One-Eyed Demon.

A name that would eventually be used to scare children and send even a.d.u.l.ts fearing for their lives.
