Episode 8: My Brother Lost His Memory (VII)

I turned around to face the people. And said with a smile.

“Everyone, please come back in an hour. I don’t know anything either. I still don’t know how much my brother’s fortune is…”

Heidi quickly supported me.

“Goodbye, then.”

They all agreed to meet in an hour, so no one bothered us anymore, allowing us to get back to my room.

I leisurely returned to my room and thought.

“Remember it well. There was no place for an ‘apprentice’ in this mansion.”

Roystan was right. There were no apprentices here.

To survive here, I had to be a ‘Rosie Noart’ who competed with my relatives from an early age, not an ‘apprentice’.

Julian knew nothing, and I had no foundation at all in this mansion. Relatives who know that would drive us away somehow.

‘At this rate, I can’t last long at this house. If they start uniting, we can never win.’

I clenched my fists and thought.

‘Grandpa has to come back soon.’

The true owner of the County of Noart, who could protect Julian and I.

Our grandfather was now out of the country on business. By now, he must have heard the news of Julian’s accident and was returning to the empire in a hurry.

However, since it was so far away, it was going to take quite a while.

In the past, Zahid had given me information.

“Count Noart met a landslide while rushing back to the empire. Because he was tied up for such a long time, he didn’t come back even long after Julian died.”

‘I can’t afford to wait for all of that.’

Grandfather loved Julian very much. So now, the only one in this family I could trust was our grandfather.

‘Even in the past, my brother became stronger at an amazing speed. All in 5 years. So he has  to start over from now on. Even if it’s difficult to become as strong as before because of his injury, he’ll be able to become the heir to the county.’

In order to do that, we had to endure in this house until then.

‘I must… I’m going to get my grandfather back sooner than later.’

Before regressing, I stayed motionless in the annex, avoiding my grandfather unconditionally. But now I couldn’t afford to be so intimidated.

‘I’m not going to leave because I don’t have Brother to protect me, I have to make my own place.’

I must get in my grandfather’s view. And I must increase my influence in this family.

Just like Julian did before.

Roystan was severely scolded.

“Sorry, Father! I really didn’t know! I never dreamed that all the money went to that apprentice…”

“Useless bastard!”

As Roystan began to sob, Mmurloc shouted even more furiously.

“What are you crying about? Huh?”

Murloc Noart, the eldest son of Count Caliburn Noart, couldn’t contain his rising anger and pounded his chest.

“This pathetic guy, can’t hold back a few words, and blows away that big money in a second?”

Apparently, he heard that Rosie said, ‘Originally, I was going to leave it to my first uncle.’ Thinking about it made him even more frustrated.

“I don’t know for sure, but that butcher must have more than 100 billion gold… I’m angry just looking at you! Get out!!”

In the end, Roystan whimpered, retreated, and disappeared.

Murloc got angry and kicked the chair wildly.

He always behaved badly when he was in a bad mood. His servants did not dare to stop him.

“Damn it, it’s done! Shit!”

The head of the house, Count Caliburn Noart, was absent at the moment. After hearing the news of Julian’s accident, he rushed back, but the distance was still too far.

Fortunately, there was still a long way to go until his estimated time of arrival. So… Murloc had to get everything done before he returned.

“It’s such a waste that he didn’t die…”

As soon as that butcher woke up, Murloc was not the only one who decided to take away his property. His younger brother, Felide, and his sister, Monica, also wanted a slice of that pie.

He couldn’t stand the sight of them becoming his competitor.

But first of all, the biggest risk factor was Julian.

“Vallia, I didn’t know that damn girl would stab me in the back with her child…”

When Julian was diagnosed with amnesia, all three children of Count Noart cheered.

It would have been better if he had just died, but at least he wasn’t unscathed.

“Still, if this is settled well, I will be able to put out the fire. Yes.”

His funds ran out due to excessive poor investment and business expansion. However, if he obtained even a part of Julian’s property, it would be solved at once.

“Quickly, before the others take notice… Hurry up before Father comes…”

Fortunately, Felide and Monica’s subordinates also said that there was no harvest.

“Sorry… It’s because I’m not used to reading yet. Please wait a minute.”

Because it took Rosie a long time to read even one page.

She said she hadn’t learned to read in the temple, so she was still learning the letters.

It was useless even if they got irritated and read it to her. Because there were many hard words.

“Hah, the money is wasted on the apprentice. The butcher hired multiple teachers in various fields, but she hasn’t learned a single letter in over a year?”

But no matter how frustrating Rosie was, no one gave up.

“That’s right. Where… My brother… I think he said he wanted to invest a lot of money… Was it this one? Was it that one? I’m not sure, so if I remember even a little, I think it’s better to just invest…”

Rosie said that she would invest all his fortune in ‘something she can’t remember’.

So everyone had no choice but to quietly return and wait patiently.

“Starting tomorrow, you guys go to that apprentice too. Be moderately evasive, saying that there must have been some misunderstanding. Also, take something like food or presents that the kids will be crazy about.”

Murloc nervously instructed his men.

“That blind child who doesn’t know anything, try to coax her somehow! Oh, and another thing…”

His expression darkened as he gnashed his teeth nervously.

“Somehow delay my father’s return. Whether it’s breaking a bridge, breaking a carriage, or causing an accident! It would be great if my father became like the butcher!”

Murloc knew that if Count Noart returned, he would not be able to achieve what he wanted.

The next morning.

Newspaper was delivered with breakfast.

I munched on a tomato and opened the front page of the newspaper.

The Endless Tragedy of the Duke of Diefenril

‘As expected.’

The fourth engagement breakup, and another marriage discussion – What is the fate of the miserable young patriarch?

There was even a black and white photo in the newspaper. It was a picture of a handsome boy my age.

Beneath the picture, it was explained that he was the young head of the family who inherited the title of Duke of Diefenril.

‘Zahid… He looked like this when he was young.’

The boy was hugging a large wolf and had a wary expression on his face. Just looking at the photo, I could feel that he was suffering as much as I was.

‘Are you having a hard time right now? Wait a minute.’

I swallowed the tomato and stared at the black-and-white photo.

‘This time I’ll go find you and I’ll be your benefactor.’

Ame: Go, Rosie! Save your husband! Grandpa, please be safe and come back and whoop your useless kids’ asses!

Tassie: I love stories like this where she starts to support her husband from the beginning!! I can’t wait for the ass whoopings that will be dished out!!
