Episode 4: My Brother Lost His Memory (III)

´⛧ ⛧ ⛧ ´

Julian was momentarily speechless.

‘Now… Does this little one want me to hand over all my property to her?’
(TL/N: An explanation as you’ll see ‘little one’ a whole lot. Julian used ‘꼬맹이’ on Rosie, which is informal/slang for child or kid or brat. He uses it like a nickname, but if I use ‘child’ or ‘kid’, it doesn’t quite differentiate this from when others say it, and ‘brat’ isn’t quite appropriate as he continues to use this even when they’ve grown closer. So… I settled on ‘little one’.)

He was dizzy.

“Hurry.”

In the meantime, Rosie urged impatiently.

“I don’t have time.”

The seal was half-forced into his trembling hand.

The seal of the County of Noart, which bore a crow pattern…

Aside from the fact that the seal was unfamiliar, he immediately thought this was not right.

“Hey, little one, why are you already talking about money? Huh?”

Julian stared at Rosie with suspicion and asked.

“Where the hell are you going to use it on? Looking at the jewels and dress… I think you’re already into spending money on useless things…”

And Rosie replied in a sad voice.

“Hngh, these are all bought by Brother.”

“…….”

When Julian was at a loss for words, Rosie added as if sincerely comforting him.

“It’s okay. I also thought that Brother was spending pointlessly when you bought me this. Well, let’s think positively. It’s good that we finally agree.”

Julian let out a sigh.

He was different from ‘the brother who used to give me things’ that this little one was talking about now.

Mom… he didn’t have good memories of Vallia Noart. So, he didn’t want to join the County of Noart.

He had been confident in using a knife since he was young, so he planned to go back to his hometown and manage the butcher shop. Just as he wanted when he was really 17-years-old.

So, as soon as he saw Rosie’s existence, he was at a loss.

‘I think I have to take responsibility for a child I didn’t even know of, but I think it’s going to be hard to handle a girl who is covered from head to toe with money.’

Julian’s thoughts became complicated.

“Hey, little one.”

“It’s not ‘little one’, it’s Rosie…”

“Little one, if I leave the county, what will you do? Actually, I’m thinking of throwing this all away and going back to the butcher’s shop.”

He cleared his throat and asked slowly, looking at Rosie.

“Are you thinking of following me?”

Julian continued, recalling the small butcher shop in his memory.

Quietly, Rosie stared at him and replied immediately.

“I have no intention of leaving the county residence.”

“Ah.”

Julian slowly nodded.

That’s a matter of course.

She would rather live as the granddaughter of a count than the sister of a shabby butcher’s shop.

Regardless of what he had done in the past, it seemed comfortable for them to part here and now.

Rosie pushed the papers once more.

“Why aren’t you stamping it? I’m in a hurry, so be quick.”

“Hey, little one. Wait a moment.”

“Not a ‘little one’, it’s Rosie. Didn’t you say you’re going to throw it all away and go back to the butcher shop? If it wasn’t for me, wouldn’t you be in a state where you didn’t even know you had property?”

Julian’s mouth fell wide open.

Certainly, he did not even know he had wealth until Rosie told him about it.

‘When I said I’ll ‘abandon everything’, I meant abandoning the status of the grandson of Count Noart… If I have property, is that included…?’

As Julian blinked rapidly, Rosie tilted her head and asked.

“Is this butcher saying two things with the same mouth? Does becoming foolish include lying?”

“Damn it, it’s not like that! Give it to me! Right now!”

“Hey, okay. I’ll lay it out very nicely here.”

Julian sneered and held the seal. It occurred to him that he might be able to leave the things of the old ‘brother’ to the sister who would be left alone in the county.

“You’re going to put your magic in it, right? Only then will the official document be effective.”

Rosie asked nervously.

“Of course! I’m not that foolish!”

Without hesitation, Julian immediately stamped the seal with his mana. It wasn’t until it was over that he thought, ‘Did she deliberately provoke me?’

“Ah…”

Only then did relief cross Rosie’s face.

“Hey, little one.”

Upon seeing that expression, Julian became dissatisfied, so he clicked his tongue and spoke as if admonishing.

“Sister, huh? First of all, it’s money that I don’t know, so I hand it over, but save as much as possible. Don’t use too much… Huh?”

Bitterness rose as he said that.

According to Schulva and Rosie, he was very fond of the little one, but she seemed to take his money as soon as he lost his memory.

He wondered if it was a relationship that had barely been maintained because he faithfully bought jewelry, dresses, or similar things.

It was then.

Suddenly, without knocking, the door to Julian’s room burst opened.

“I heard that Lord Julian has awakened!”

“I heard you came back to consciousness at dawn?”

It was crazy.

It quickly became a mess. Out of nowhere, people he was seeing for the first time in his life gathered.

“Lord Julian, please take care of this first. The deadline is coming soon.”

“It’s this. You may not remember, but you promised to put a seal on it by today.”

“No, this is what was originally scheduled for this morning.”

“If you don’t stamp the seal on this right now, there’ll be real trouble! Oh, you didn’t forget how to use magic, did you? That way there won’t be any talk about manipulation! Well, that’s what commoner children do…”

Documents flooded Julian’s front. His body was hunched over, unable to move properly.

“Uh, what… what is all this…”

He tried to read it roughly, but the written vocabulary was too difficult.

Really, not a single line entered his head.

“I-I don’t know…”

“If you don’t know, take a picture! It’s nothing special, so just stamp it!”

The people pressed in a very urgent tone.

Before anyone knew it, Rosie held her papers tightly and dodged to a corner of the room.

Schulva came to his senses and yelled.

“Everyone, back down! Lord Julian is a patient who absolutely needs stability!”

Of course, the crowd didn’t even listen to Schulva’s words.

“It’s urgent! People’s lives depend on it!”

“Get out of the way, lives are at stake! Take a picture first and read it slowly later!”

All they did was scramble to get their papers in.

Schulva was only Julian’s aide. It was clear he had no right to decide.

It was when people began urging Julian to ‘put a seal on it first’.

Rosie, who was in the corner, gave Schulva a quick glance. Recognizing the meaning of the glance, Schulva shouted loudly.

“Lord Julian has already handed over all her property to Lady Rosie!”

In an instant, silence fell in the room.

All eyes were on the little girl standing in the corner.

Rosie lifted the document she was holding to her chest over her head.

It was a very simple document in large print.

Julian Noart transfers all the property under his name to Rosie Noart.

Everyone could see the contents in an instant.

A look of bewilderment passed across the faces of the people who were pushing the papers.

“Damn it…”

“That’s quick!”

“You never said anything like that until now!”

“Ha, you passed it on to your sister? Of course, the idiot who seemed like he would take out his liver and gallbladder and carefully give it to her…”

“An idiot who only knows that younger sister, that’s what’s left of you!”

Then, like the ebb tide, the people hurriedly ran out of Julian’s room without saying goodbye.

It was swift; hard to say who went out first.

There was silence for a while in the room where only Schulva, Rosie, and Julian were left.

“Ah…”

Schulva blinked slowly and murmured.

“Those people…”

Only then did Rosie’s feet moved, approaching Julian’s bedside and saying,

“Well, they must be busy rushing back to their masters. Things have changed, so what can they do?”

She shrugged and grinned.

“There’s nothing they can do with the documents they’ve prepared, right?”

‘What… What is she saying? Their masters?’

Julian glared at the door where the people had disappeared from with sharp eyes.

‘So, this is all…’

Rosie spoke slowly.

“Our relatives prepared it in a hurry. They don’t intend to visit in person, but they want to take away Brother’s property somehow. Grandpa is away, so it’s an opportunity.”

Julian swallowed dry saliva.

If Rosie hadn’t been here, he might have put a seal on some documents with the words ‘urgent’ or ‘you’re supposed to sign by today’.

He didn’t even know he had any property until now, and actually, he didn’t even care.
