Episode 19: Don’t Touch My Brother (VIII)

In the meeting room, only the sound of Grandfather’s huffing could be heard.

When Roystan became like that, the atmosphere was such that no one could open their mouths.

Grandfather took breaths of anger for a while, then slowly turned his gaze to me as if he had noticed something.

The moment our eyes met again.

‘Ah. You know everything.’

I knew Grandfather had caught on to my ruse. That I deliberately made Roystan go to him so that he could see his clothes.

Grandfather looked at me and laughed, then abruptly said,

“Let’s move on from this pointless agenda.”

This was how the agenda for 137 billion gold was concluded, with the label that it was pointless.

“The meeting is over, everyone can leave. I’ll stay and check the rest of the meeting materials.”

It was a stern voice that no one could say.

“In case you don’t know, I’ll tell you clearly, but whether it’s 137 billion gold or 1.37 trillion gold, this is just Noart’s money spent by Noart. Never speak of this again.”

In the end, everyone had to leave quietly.

I glanced sideways at Roystan, who was still on his stomach.

Roystan’s mouth was wide open, visibly embarrassed with a crumpled face.

I looked down at him confidently and smiled.

‘I’m definitely a Noart.’

Yes, in the past, Roystan had tapped my head and said,

“Do you think our grandfather would recognize an apprentice as Noart?”

Now, I was quickly recognized by Grandfather, and…

“Do you think a 17-year-old butcher will love you like before?”

The hand that held mine was warm.

‘Even though Julian is mentally 17-years-old, he cares for me like this.’

“If you touch my sister, I won’t let you go.”

It was not the past, yet somewhat like the past.

‘Ah.’

And I realized something new.

‘My brother and I will become close again.’

My heart was pounding.

‘From this moment on, a lot of things will change.’

It had been a long time since I felt like I wasn’t alone.

Just like the spring when I was 11-years-old, when Julian held my dirty hand at the temple and said, ‘Come with me’.

“Bring the meeting minutes!”

After kicking out all of the family members, Caliburn sank into the chair with a look of disapproval.

Everyone hurriedly left the meeting room in case they offended Caliburn.

Julian and Rosie were the slowest as the former had to use his crutches.

“Brother, let’s go.”

But eventually, they hurriedly left the meeting room.

“The lowly thing used her head a little.”

Waiting in front of the meeting room, Murloc whispered quietly.

“Did you deliberately let Roystan go to Father?”

The door to the meeting room began to close behind Julian and Rosie.

Murloc had been to this meeting room countless times, so he was familiar with the structure.

Once the meeting room door started closing, it closed smoothly all the way without stopping. And when the meeting room door was closed, the conversation in the hallway could not be heard inside.

“How dare you do this and have him fall for it…”

Narrowing his eyes, Murloc glared at Rosie .

“What?”

And Julian, who was supported by Rosie, shouted in anger.

“Now what about our little one… ah!”

He couldn’t finish his words.

Confirming that the door was pretty much closed, Murloc clenched his fist and hit Rosie’s head.

So, when Rosie, who was supporting Julian, stumbled and let go of the crutches… Julian fell down.

Without even being able to finish his words, the fallen Julian was no longer a threat in the eyes of Murloc.

“Even if you pretend to be arrogant, there is no one here who will look after you two.”

Murloc laughed at Julian and folded his arms.

“It seems like you have become something now…”

Whatever Julian was trying to say, Rosie hurriedly stopped him and shook his head. And she directed her tearful face at Murloc.

It was a really pitiful expression. It was only when Murloc saw the dejected face that he seemed to feel a little better.

‘Yes, this should be how it is.’

The thought that this insignificant thing had screwed him and Roystan at the same time made him queasy.

Facing the kid, Murloc continued triumphantly.

“But you have to know your place. You’re just a butcher who lost his memory and an idiot locked up in the annex, and you’re nothing in this family.”

It was then.

“It’s really pathetic!”

The door to the meeting room was thrown open. There, stood Caliburn. He shouted loudly.

“Is that what you say to your niece and nephew as soon as you leave the meeting room!”

Disbelief instantly flickered in Murloc’s eyes.

“Fa, Fa, Fa, Father!”

“What? Butcher and idiot? How wonderful are you to disparage my grandchildren so much?”

His angry voice echoed all the way down the hallway.

Even the servant who opened the meeting room door at Caliburn’s command trembled in his terrifying anger. All the other members of Noart who were far ahead looked back in surprise.

Terrified, Murloc immediately fell on his face. To that extent… Indeed… Caliburn was absolutely intimidating.

‘No, the door is obviously closed? I confirmed it!’

He didn’t scream it out loud, there was no way Caliburn could hear it…

It was then.

Rosie quietly got up and took Julian’s crutches.

‘That one!’

Only then did Murloc realized.

Earlier, when he hit the apprentice’s head, she deliberately pretended to fall and put the butcher’s crutches through the closed door. That’s why the door didn’t close completely, bearing a gap.

It was such a tiny gap that he firmly believed that the door was closed.

‘You… calculated all of this!’

With shocked eyes, Murloc looked at Rosie.

Rosie’s expression was as relaxed as usual.

Neither the pitiful expression from earlier nor the small gesture that prevented Julian from going crazy was natural.

“Is anything good in this family? What the hell is the difference between Julian and Rosie and you guys?”

Caliburn was dumbfounded and angry. Then, he suddenly looked at Rosie, who was getting the crutches. And he smiled as if he understood everything.

A cold sweat broke out on Murloc’s spine when he saw it.

‘No! My father likes people who respond quickly and gracefully to crises!’

Caliburn, who forgot his anger for a moment, was looking at Rosie with interest. Then he blurted out.

“Come to think of it, I forgot something very important.”

Rosie looked at Caliburn while supporting Julian.

Caliburn declared.

“Julian seems to be able to move, so he and Rosie shall both get training and attend breakfast from tomorrow.”

At those words, the eyes of Murloc and the other family members standing in the hallway widened.

Noart’s breakfast.

When Caliburn was at the county residence, the whole family would gather and have breakfast in the main building.

Being able to attend meant Rosie would be treated the same as any other family member.

‘By saying that pair of siblings are not good at anything in the family… I’ve provoked my father!’

Murloc bit his lower lip hard.

The fact that Julian was also mentioned meant that even if he lost his memory, Caliburn would give up on him.

There was a lot of conversation at breakfast. Caliburn even used the word ‘training’.

“Rosie should move to the main building. Does she really need to stay in that warehouse or something?”

Rosie’s lips trembled as she muttered in disbelief.

“Grandfather…”

Her face contained both shock and surprise.

“What kind of warehouse is so big and fancy…”

No, that’s not the surprising thing right now!

Caliburn laughed and said, not caring about her shock.

“Of course, it’s good to be hidden and protected, but in my opinion, the annex can’t hold all your items.”

And after thinking for a while, he said abruptly:

“Hmm… ‘Flora’ would be nice.”

At that, Monica, who was standing in the hallway, shouted in surprise.

“What? Father? ‘Flora’?”

If it’s ‘Flora’, it was the room where her mother, Vallia, used to live.

The second best room for the children of the head of household. Of course, Caliburn’s room was the best.

It was better than Julian or Roystan’s room.

Even Rosie was surprised, but Caliburn lashed out at Monica.

“Why? Is it too narrow?”

“Ha, but…”

“Are you saying I can’t even give that much of a room to my only granddaughter who said she was glad I came back safely?”

Come to think of it, Rosie was the only person who said that to Caliburn.

They could have said a word after the meeting, but no one said it.

And so, at Caliburn’s words, everyone shut their mouths miserably.
