Episode 1: Prologue

Inside the temple’s underground prison, which was so deep that there was no guard.

“Koong koong, koong koong koong koong!”

The wolf divine beast imprisoned with me barked pitifully.

I couldn’t appease the wolf divine beast. Because I was crying too.

“Zahid… Zahid, open your eyes… Zahid…”

A man covered in blood lay outside the cage.

His name was Zahid Diefenril.

He was the Duke of Diefenril and the master of the wolf divine beast that I was imprisoned with. And he was my only dearest friend left in this world.

“Please, please don’t die… please…?”

From the age of 12, I was imprisoned in the dungeon of the temple for 10 years and subjected to various experiments.

In the meantime, my brother died and my family was ruined.

It was all the temple’s work.

It was a truly hellish time. However, I was able to endure it because Zahid often risked his life to visit me secretly. But now, the temple had once again taken away my precious person.

“Zahid, please wake up…”

No matter how much I cried, Zahid’s breathing could no longer be heard.

I couldn’t even brush his black hair because of the bars that stood between us.

“Rosie…”

Although on death’s doors, he staggered to the prison. And he pushed something into the cage.

“…Take it. It’s a holy relic.”

“What?”

“The treasure of that temple that can turn back time. I stole it.”

The holy relic, which looked like a small pebble, was covered with Zahid’s blood.

“I can’t use this because I don’t have divine power. But even though it’s little, you have divine power, so try it.”

I didn’t know anything about the holy relic. Just to the extent that holy objects only respond to tremendous divine power?

It was said that only the high priest would probably be able to activate the holy relic.

“I had promise to set you free by destroying the temple… I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you.”

Zahid really wanted to get me out of here.

I knew he was trying to destroy the temple, but I was stuck here and couldn’t do anything.

It was so miserable, too, that I was so powerless even in front of his death.

I hated myself so much that it was painful.

Through the flowing tears, I saw the divine relic that had fallen on the prison floor.

The last thing Zahid left behind.

I crawled towards the holy relic.

I changed my name three times.

When I was at the orphanage, I was just called Rosie, without a last name.

And at the age of five, after manifesting my divine power, albeit insignificant, I was sent from the orphanage to the temple. When I was living in the temple until I was 11, I was Rosie Trian.

‘Trian’ was a surname given to apprentices with very little divine power.

There were too many apprentices like me, and I mainly spent my time doing odd jobs at the temple.

And…

“Hello, my name is Julian Noart. sorry for being late. Now I know of your existence.”

In the spring when I was 11-years-old, my older brother, whom I didn’t even know existed, came to visit me, and my name became Rosie Noart.

He had the same mother as me, but a different father.

“Rosie, come with me. Since our mother is the daughter of Count Noart, you are also a proud Noart from today, Rosie Noart.”

Receiving the surname of ‘Noart’, the richest family in the empire, was something I had never even imagined.

In particular, Noart was a family that was openly at odds with the temple.

But to me as a child, none of that kind of family background mattered.

It was just so nice to have a family that loved me.

“My precious little sister… You’ll never be like me. You just need to eat well, play well, learn well, and sleep well here. Like a normal 11-year-old, without any worries.”

In the desolate and bloody residence of the County of Noart, Julian took good care of me.

My grandfather, Count Noart, was very busy. So, without parents, we were the only ones to each other.

There was no interaction with other relatives who lived together at the county residence, but it was the happiest time in the world.

Julian was so talented that he surpassed all of his relatives to become the successor of the County of Noart. He was said to be the strongest among ordinary people, excluding priests and wizards.

As the younger sister that the strongest person cherished, I received all sorts of treatment and protection.

But this happiness was only for 14 months.

14 months later, after Julian had an accident, he had amnesia and didn’t recognize me.

“What is this kid? Are you kidding me? Is she my sister? Ah…”

Julian’s annoyed expression that I had never seen before.

Seeing that face hurt.

I was already a child with low self-esteem. I had often thought that I was not suitable to be Julian’s little sister.

I thought that I shouldn’t be a burden to Julian, who was already confused. So I left the County of Noart and returned to the temple. I was about to start a life of apprenticeship in the temple again.

And that was my worst mistake.

“What? The apprentice who went to the Noart family has returned? Ah! Don’t you need a test subject? Put her in the lab right now!”

As soon as I returned to the temple, I was confined and subjected to various experiments.

That was how I was locked up for 10 years from the age of 12.

I wouldn’t have been able to survive if it weren’t for Zahid, who secretly broke into the temple and found me in an underground prison and became my friend the whole time.

‘But now even Zahid is dead.’

Leaving me a holy relic that could so-called turn back time…

‘Is it really possible to regress?’

Would this great holy relic really respond to such weak divine power?

‘But… But I really want to turn back time.’

I clutched the relic stained with Zahid’s blood.

‘Please… please let me go back, please.’

Tears soaked my cheeks.

But I didn’t even think about wiping it and prayed earnestly.

‘It’s so miserable to be unable to do anything in front of the death of a precious person.’

I pushed my little divine power into the holy relic.

‘I’ve been powerless all this life.’

No matter how tightly I squeezed the relic, to the point my fingernails dug into my palms, causing them to bleed…

‘If you give me another chance, I will never live like this.’

I thought of my older brother who cared for me the most in the world.

I thought of Zahid, who had been steadily sneaking into this deep prison for the past few years.

The people I couldn’t do anything for, the people who have now passed away, the people I would definitely protect if I could turn back time…

‘If I could go back to the past, so that I could change all of this…’

I gripped the holy relic and gnashed my teeth.

‘I will definitely protect everyone, and I will definitely destroy the temple.’

Oh wait. Wait a minute…

The moment I thought that my prayers would not be heard since I said that I was going to destroy the temple in front of the holy relic…

Slowly, my vision began to blur.

“Kkong-kwang, kkong-kwang!”

The cry of the wolf divine beast who was imprisoned with me was the last thing I heard.

I was completely unconscious.

And…

“Really? Is this real?”

I stared blankly at the mirror.

Sleekly trimmed silver hair, sparkling green eyes. White, plump cheeks.

Also, smaller than the peers and looked like a nine-year-old.

‘I’m back.’

It had been 10 minutes since I miraculously regressed.

I was slowly accepting the reality of being a child again.

I took a deep breath and looked around again.

‘I’m really back…’

A gorgeous ceiling and a comfortable, large bed.

A shelf full of toys that girls would love.

‘It’s really the County of Noart’s annex.’

The 14 months I spent here, in the residence of the County of Noart, were the happiest times of my life.

‘Is that why the relic sent me back to this time?’

I walked slowly to the table by the window.

The family of Noart had a family tradition of always bringing a newspaper with breakfast. Indeed, there was a newspaper on the table. I hurriedly checked the date.

“Ah…”

The date stamped in the newspaper was exactly 10 years ago.

So now I am 12-years-old.
