The Stolen Princess And The Blind Prince

Chapter 7 - A Restless Sleep

I was alone.

I gripped the covers. Tight, tight, so tight it hurt.

After all this time I still had no idea who my fiancé was.

He was tall like Geun; and Chang-hoon's opposite. He was also shy, and had hair that was longer than normal.

But… Why does he hide from the world? There must be something wrong with him, right?

Well, I mean, was there something wrong with me? Maybe I'm the one who he's worried about…

We've never met, in private, or through letter. I've never seen his handwriting. Was it messy like my brother's? Neat like mine?

Blink. The room was still. I was still. My heart thump-thumped in my c.h.e.s.t. My mind ran away, to someplace beyond the moon.

I began to wonder, was he even human?

What if he was cursed by a witch or something? He's a giant shaggy beast, waiting for someone to release the curse? If we kissed, would it be true love?

Would he be angry if it wasn't?

How would we have children? And our children… would they be half beasts?

Maybe he'd be something simple and easy to deal with. Like, -like a cute puppy. Maybe that was his curse, that every evening, he'd turn into a cute puppy.

Then I'd get to snuggle, every night, worry free.

Hehe. Blink. My eyelids were heavy. Dry. They were angry when I opened them again.

I remembered something. A flash of memory: I was being cradled in a pair of strong arms. We were moving somewhere. Fast.

Blink. There was the smell of trees. The racket of bugs. He was warm.

But where was the tiger?

This must've been after? How did we get away though?

I concentrated hard, pushing my fingers into my temples… Urgh..uh. I'm too tired. All this thinking is making me sleepy… I had remembered just a little bit more. Dark green clothes. A mask. Like the... like the bandit leader…

The man that outsmarted the tiger and saved my life, was the tall, dark and mysterious bandit. I don't remember his face, but he was wearing a mask so I guess that makes sense… Mmn. But, maybe a guy like that, wouldn't be too bad?

Someone who can outsmart a tiger! That's the kind of man I'd want!

With that, my thoughts calmed down. I fell, fell, fell into the gentle folds of a nervous sleep.

I dreamed of so many impossible possibilities. Maybe if they were crazy enough, I wouldn't be scared anymore.
