The Ruthless Dragon God

Chapter 23 - Rex in distress

Rex was still lying on the ground. His body ached with the pain from the kicks which landed upon him. Hunter had beaten him up and even took his prey and hammer from him.

Rex had nothing left as he lay sprawled on the ground with his stomach growling with hunger. Tiredness from the whole day's exertion had set in. He had been hunting the whole day which made the hunger today more intense.

As he was lying on the ground an aroma of meat getting barbecued on fire spread out. Sniffing to find from where this mouth watering aroma was spreading from, Rex turned to see that Hunter was cooking half of his hunted snake on the bonfire while eating the other half.

Rex was crestfallen, his prey had been snatched and was being eaten by Hunter. Not only did that bastard stole it from him but was eating it with ease.

Anger filled his mind as he crawled towards Hunter to argue with him. As Rex came closer crawling on his fours, Hunter stood up from his seat.

"So I see you didn't have your fill and you came back for more. Hahaha nice I will surely give what you want." asked Hunter as he kicked Rex on his midriff.

Rex flipped over as he fell on his back with the impact of the kick. He tried to get back up but another kick came his way making him fall again.

"Give me my snake back. I hunted it with my own efforts. I... " Rex spoke as he suffered another kick.

"Huh... What your snake? The moment I snatched it from you it became mine. These woods are my area of hunting. Anything in here is my property.

No one is allowed to hunt out here other than me. If I find anyone trying to do so, I beat the hell out of them. Why do you think I am the only hunter out here in village." Hunter spoke as he kept kicking Rex.

His kicks though were not that strong that they could break your bones. They were strong enough to leave bruises on the body.

Hunter's kicks hit Rex all over his body. His arms,c.h.e.s.t, midriff and legs all bore the burnt of Hunter's kicks.

"Now get lost if your hunger is satisfied." kicking him enough he returned back to his seat and continued eating his barbecued snake meat.

Rex lay here hugging his body as the body ached more from the kick impacts.

Blue and black bruises were formed on his body while some had a bit swelling too. Pain was moving through Rex's body as he lay. But the pain in his mind was that of losing his prey.

Due to this his mind was set as he again struggled to get back on his feat as he moved closer too Hunter. Seeing this Hunter's temper blew.

"You won't understand right?? Now I got to show you consequences of offending me." Hunter moved to the bonfire and lifted a log of wood burning in the bonfire.

" Now this will leave a permanent scar on your mind forever." Hunter checked the log as he held it from the outer end, while the end which was inside the bonfire had turned orange red with the heat and a faint crackling of fire.

"AHEM !! " a sound of throat clearing came from behind him, as the hunter turned around to see a man standing there. Out stood there an old man with a white long beard which came upto his c.h.e.s.t.

He was none other than the Librarian of the academy Mr Brooks. Seeing him Hunter dropped the burning wood from his hands as he looked at him with fear in his mind.

Everyone in the village knew that Mr. Brook loved children and would support kids in all matters. Faint drops of sweat rose from Hunter's skin as they glided down along it.

"Mister.... Mr. Brooks.... what are you doing here?" Hunter stammered as he looked at him.

"Well I like to walk around at night after dinner. Now that I have grown old, my digestive system has gone weak. But a good walk at night helps it in digesting food. But may I ask what you and Rex were doing?" Mr. Brooks looked at Rex and Hunter.

"Huh..... We..... We right?........ Hunting,,,, Hunting yes.... We were hunting. I was teaching him how to hunt." Hunter lied.

"Oh hunting nice... I see you are training your apprentice. That's nice"

"Apprentice yes... apprentice. Now that I am getting in my midlife its getting hard for me to hunt that easily as I used to in my early days."

"Good good good. I also want to see him hunt. How early can I see him in action?" M. Brooks asked

"Umm.. well I don't let people see my style of hunting. But you as an awakener must have better methods Mr. Brooks. So there is no harm in showing you. Well his training has just started and we still will require few months for training."

"Hmmm.. what about 3 months? Will he be ready in 3 months?"

"Yes 3 months are well enough to train him. Though he may not turn into a complete specialist but he will be enough to get preys easily."

"Ok 3 months it is then. I will be back in 3 months to see the hunt." Mr Brooks answered and left.
