The Rise Of True Magic

Chapter 8 - Major Decisions!

The next day, Arnadus became visible as he stood at his lord's side as they sensed Fernandus aura outside the office door.

"Come In." Roland called out as Fernandus entered the room. The moment Fernandus entered the room was sealed completely from the outside world by Arnadus Spacetime magic.

"Greeting lord, your servant has returned after accomplishing his task." Fernandus kneeled before his lord as he completely ignored Arnadus little display of magic.

"Its good to have you back, I hope you bring good news." Roland asked while Arnadus remained silent by his side as he observed Fernandus status.

"Merely depends from which perspective one looks at it." Fernandus replied in a passive tone.

"Oh! How so." Roland

"As per the Lords orders I have survey the territories resources, people, and its neighboring villages, towns or cities. The current situation of the Town does not bode well for its development into a city. Not only do we lack the financial capability to support further projects. We don't even have enough food to feed our people. The people of the town are only concerned with earning enough money to support themselves in Longsong stronghold during the month of demons. These are but some of the internal factors, if we look outside the territory we are completely surrounded by enemies from all sides." Fernandus explained.

"As we threaten the interests of longsong stronghold its but a matter of time before battle breaks out all they need is a proper excuse and the Lords siblings will be more than happy to provide one. Regardless, these are but minor matters. The real Threat comes from the Impassable Mountain Ranges near the Territory that area is infested with unknown lifeforms with unclear intentions therefore will be presumed to be hostile until proven otherwise. The strongest presence in the area is equal to my own strength. It is due to luck and the control on my mana that I was not detected. If it was any other mage he would have been found out the moment they lay eyes on that lifeform. There is also the presence of witches in the area that will prove to be difficult to deal with." Fernandus summarized the territories over all situation.

"Indeed, we have a lot of challenges ahead of us but no matter from which perspective I try to comprehend the situation all I hear are bad, bad and worse news." Roland spoke his mind.

"That is because the lord has removed magic from the equation. Ever since the establishment of the territory the lord has tried his best to keep magic hidden from the former towns people who are ignorant of its brilliance therefore fear what they do not understand or control." Fernandus replied to remind his lord of the obvious.

As if a switch had been flipped through his mind many thoughts and solutions to the problems started to appear one by one in Rolands mind.

"Then what do you suggest we do? They are not yet ready to face the reality of the situation." Roland asked for advice.

"I advise the lord not to sell the houses to the former people of border town but instead give it to the latter that have arrived here seeking a new life as they have proven to be more loyal that the former. As the month of demons is approaching he will simply give a notice that those who leave the town will be abandoning his or her property therefore the giving the prince the rights to their land. While those who stay will simply be moved to their new homes in exchange of their old ones." Fernandus advised, "As the latter is aware of the existence of magic we can simply assign them to farming work while the former will be assigned to the construction work thus saving us the trouble of educating them about magic for the time being therefore temporarily resolving the Towns food crisis."

"Good, Very Good. I am very pleased with you Fernandus. But we are low on budget and simply do not have the finances to pay for the construction, so we will simply provide rations for labor. While those working on farms will be provided extra rations for there hard work until we are financially secure again." Roland Ordered, "Now, that I am aware of the situation outside of the border town we must increase our military might therefore its time to increase our forces."

A white light flashed as a Knight appeared before the three men as he kneeled before Roland.

"Greetings Lord, Garen is at your service." he introduced himself.

No one blinked an eye as if what happened was normal. After the introductions Arnadus lifted the spacetime magic as Roland called Carter and Barov to his office before it was reapplied.

Barov and Carter was somewhat unnerved seeing these unknown men in the Princes Office. The moment their eyes arrived on his body Carter started to sweat all over while unconsciously he began to draw his sword. The feeling disappeared as soon as it came while Barov remained unware of the feeling of imminent danger due to being normal civilian his instincts had not developed enough to sense danger.

Even through they were curious of the identity of the three men. They kept silent as they waited for the prince to speak.

"Its good that you both are here for there is too much for us to speak about." Roland spoke as he removed a letter from his pocket before putting it on the desk.

Barov eyes widened immediately as he recognized the letter that he had written to the king. While Carter raised an eyebrow at the prince action.

"You have no idea how much displeased I was when I received this letter. Nevertheless, I still didn't take any action for I have high hopes for you Barov." Roland spoke as Barov breathed a sigh of relive at the prince words while Carter remained silent as he gazed at Barov.

"The world is a big place in which the interests of many collide daily therefore its time for you both to see it a new perspective." Roland began as informed them of his ambition for the throne as well as the conflict between the siblings as he removed a letter addressed to Garcia.

Everything was normal and within expectations but when Roland informed them about sheltering witches and going against the church they started to protest against such an idea. But the sight of Roland performing magic left their mouths hanging as they took in the existence of small fire balls rotating at the prince hands.

When they were informed that they can learn magic as well they were at a loss for words. The discussion lasted an hour before Roland became silent as he watched Barov with an expected look as if he was already aware of Carters decision. As if to affirm Rolands thoughts Carter feel onto his knees swearing loyalty to his Lord.

Even through Barov was already aware of Carters loyalty to the prince. The sight of the man kneeling before without a single thought left a bad taste in his mouth. Church, Magic, Witches that a lot to take in therefore he still hesitated to acknowledge the prince as his lord as his future path was still unclear. Quickly thinks about his choices Barov clenched his teeth before he kneeled and swore loyalty to new his Lord.

It was already clear that if he did not swear loyalty he will be killed before he could blink an eye. It was still unclear how the prince found these unknown men who had yet to be introduced to swear such blind loyalty him. But one thing was clear that these men knew how to perform magic like his highness as they were too calm. The experience in the Royal court taught him never underestimate anyone so might as well surrender to a powerful new faction where he can learn magic as well. The very though made him excited.

Barov was lucky that he kneeled in the nick of time as he locked on by the three calm men who were filled with murderous intent which was tightly concealed within the body as they stood relaxed and aloof about the discussion taking place.

Roland was so existed that he would have started jumping around like a monkey if know one was around. Alas! He had to control himself as it was unbecoming of a lord to perform such actions. But the source of his excitement was not Barov instead it was the blue screen displayed by the system showing barov's status therefore proving that only those had sworn loyalty or is a lower level then him can have their status displayed while higher level individual can conceal their status like Fernandus and Garen while Arnadus did not bother to do so.
