The Pursuit Of Power

Chapter 62 - Jötunheim (2)

Yuuki felt no need to sleep when the sun finally set inside of Jötunheim. Instead, he felt as though he had more energy.

What was strange was the fact that he had to complete his daily quest 3 times that night. This discovery led him to believe that time flowed differently inside of the Gate, as he had to complete his Daily Quest multiple times in one day it had a placebo effect where Yuuki felt it was very much more efficient than how he only received one a day.

Inside of the Gate, a single day had passed, outside? Four.

Luckily, another 3 Giants were killed and that reduced the amount of necessary searching. They numbered 24 now. The Gate was like a barren wasteland even though it was purely mountains. No grass, no water, no trees, nothing except the Giants, Yuuki, and the star in the sky.

Hina was there to talk to him so he did not feel lonely one bit as he occasionally Blinked before he used [ Flash Step ] to increase his speed further.

"Why are they always so far apart? I just want to kill them but they won't let me do that all at once." Starting another conversation after he used [ Samsara ] to locate the closest Giant, he rushed towards them as he attempted Dimensional Travel but realized it would break the Gate and open it which would release all of the Giants, who he was trying to kill, onto the civilians.

{Well... I don't know. This is annoying me too. Maybe it's just like this because of how long they have been in this Gate?}

"Oh! So like how Humans originate from Africa and spread outwards from there across the world, the Giants spread out from the center of the Gate destroying everything they see?"

{Exactly.} She felt happy that Yuuki was able to always understand her.

"This is still too slow."

He created wings of fire around his back after removing his T-Shirt which he stored in his [ Inventory ] and wrapped the wings of fire in wind.

Effectively lifting himself off the ground and accelerating forwards, Yuuki felt he could go faster.

"I am speed." He said with a normal face until he cringed at how weird it sounded.

One way he could accelerate further is to increase the size of the wings, which he did. A single flap of his incredibly wide wings sent him flying multiple kilometers in one go.

After multiple hours of traveling before having to stop and do his daily quest, Yuuki realized that he did not need to find the Giants but the Giant Monarch. Once he was in danger, surely the other Giants would not be able to do anything but return to him. Thus, Yuuki would be able to round up the Giants in a significantly simpler way which would reduce the time he needed to take to kill the Giants and clear the Gate.

A threat to the citizens and not him, that's what the Giants were. If he was too slow and let the gate open as outside it would only require 2 weeks or 14 days, Yuuki only had 2 and a half days inside of the Gate to get rid of all of the Giants or it would open onto the citizens which gave him a sense of urgency.

"If I just waited until the Gate opened and they came into Tokyo I could easily kill them all if they were right in front of me. Ughhh this is taking so long!" He had turned towards the Giant Monarch only to find he was even further away than the closest Giant.

{It's okay, once you get there you can finish this very quickly. Keep going.} After months of being attached to Yuuki's soul, she understood him quite well. Rather than him knowing that she was being understanding, in this situation, he needed encouragement to keep him going. Not that he would stop, but instead, to make him faster.

Her words worked as he nodded and exhaled before another set of wings appeared and he increased his altitude and dived down like an Eagle before accelerating upwards and diving again.

Doing this allowed him to reach the Giant Monarch in one day.

Seeing the Giant chained up, Yuuki walked to him after his wings dissipated into the air. Conveniently, the Giant Monarch had his head at ground-level so conversing was rather easy.

"So, Giant Monarch. Why are you chained up?" Yuuki took a look at the wall of the dungeon as the Giant Monarch was on the inside of a cave which turned out to be a dungeon the further he went inside.

"Hum- no, you aren't a human." Yuuki saw the anger within the Giant Monarch's eyes as he said Human, he could also see the d.e.s.i.r.e to kill, to destroy, and many other things within the single glance of the Giant Monarch's eyes.

"Why are you chained up, Legia?" Yuuki's words caused the now calm Giant Monarch to become shocked as its eyes widened due to hearing its name.

"H-how do you know my name?" Sadly, his question would never be answered.

"How long will it take you to gather the Giants here? They are so obnoxiously far away that I can't get to them unless the Gate opens. Wait... why did I not just do that in the first place?" Grunting with disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, he turned once again and faced Legia, the Giant Monarch.

Recalling Chad, Brad, Raven, and Leo back into the Beast Dimension he released them out again and Legia's eyes widened as he looked at Brad.

"Beast Monarch?! Why are you-"

*Smack*

"No, his name is Brad!" Yuuki backhanded the Giant Monarch as he could not allow him to call his Tamed Beast by the wrong name. Chad and Brad's Legendary W.o.m.bo Combo was seen for the first time as Brad knocked the Giant Monarch's head around before Chad zapped, burnt, doused, zapped again for greater effect, and then burned him again.

Looking very sad now, the Giant Monarch indicated with his eyes he wanted the chains on him to be released.

Yuuki did it as this was a chance to improve the group synergy of his Tamed Beasts. To see if they could defeat a Monarch without Yuuki's help.

One by one, Yuuki snapped the Chains.
