The Player's System

Chapter 66 - Choice

Choice

Their choice saved them because if they had chosen the silent colony then they might have been attacked by the Python in the dark. The other colony was a trap.

Usually, players decide to clear simple and easy tasks normally. They want to be given the prize on a silver platter of challenge-free ease.

Keeping this in mind, Python set this trap. It tried to act smart however the team was willing to bet for the hardest job. After all, they were here to win and conquer all, not play some children's games.

"How will we collaborate? What will be our strategy? Some things are making me worried." Orin spoke, his bottom lip quivering.

He was raising a question from the team head. Orin was greatly different from others. He laboured harder than the rest of the team however less inclined to disturb his brain most of the time.

He could jump from the cliff on a simple gesture of the team head but not use his brain cells. However, seeing that the team head was walking silently made him worried.

"We are heading toward the last colony and if I am not wrong then it should be you who should open the Book of Detection and read the clues." Junan halted his steps and reminded.

"Indeed I should look into it." Orin dropped his head and pulled out the book of detection. The outer cover of the book was masterly designed as if the precious ancient script was jotted down inside. There was something about that book that whenever it was brought out a sense of respect shadowed around it.

Orin looked at it for a second or two as if asking for consent from the book itself to open it up. He got surprised because there were two pages instead of one. Both the pages were maroon in colour. The words were written in white ink on the first page and the second page with golden ink.

"Do not keep staring at the pages. Read them instead." Junan spoke expressionlessly.

"Sure," he licked his lips and flared his nostrils, "killing the Python is impossible without luck. The luck never waits for the cowards." Orin read the first page and looked at the team head.

The team members also stopped to listen to the clue from the book.

Junan sighed, "If you had been good in your profession you might have decoded these words. Now tell me whether the book is pointing us cowards or pushing us not to be?" Junan asked Orin.

His tone was in no way slamming type nonetheless he wanted to let Orin understand that sooner or later all of them should learn their ȧssigned professions to make the advancement practical.

This level and the levels ahead were constructed with the professions rather than passive or impassive skills. There were no more of your typical run of mill level up methods used in this game portal. The players were given brutal hit-ups for every level.

Without understanding their professions better way they might be dragging the level for longer than it should be. Presently they were winning because of the best level of collaboration however if there were two more active teams along with them then this collaboration might ŀȧpse at any point.

"I will take this profession to the next level." Albert chuckled sweetly.

He liked to decode or do detective jobs. He wanted to establish his Detective agency after winning a lot of money from this game portal.

"Sure if the things did not restrict us again." Junan agreed.

"Perhaps it meant that there is something between the Python and the players that should be solved. It could be ogres of the Python or some broken gates again." Orin sounded explaining. Junan yawned, "It does not make sense."

"We can know after entering through any opened gates? I am sure there will be troops ready to welcome us." Sashi chimed in the conversation.

She pointed toward the opened gate. They nodded. The time was slipping like an unrestricted horse.

"There is another page, should I read it too?" Orin asked the team head. Junan and others fell speechless. "What are you waiting for, man?" Ahram spoke up.

Orin opened the second page but could not read. The black clouds over the dark colony started thundering as if threatening or afraid of something. The team members got certain that the second page meant something important.

"Read it already." Clark beckoned.

Orin nodded and read, "Collect the shredded skin of the Python and burn."

They heard and sighed. "So we have direction now. The shredded skin of the Python should burn for the sake of good." Clark spoke enthusiastically, waving the sharp blade in the air.

He seemed to be challenging the Python, also calling his troop for this deed. Jake silently acclaimed. He recently read the clue of the system and the reason behind this task.

The purpose of burning the shredded skin was clear. Presently the size of the Python was huge and the players might get reduced to mincemeat in front of it. By completing this tough task they will be spared from the big ordeal.

If they enter the colony and perhaps broke the seal along with cross the dead zone then they would be helpless in front of Python. The question was whether they could break the seal or cross the dead zone without losing team members? The answer was most possibly no.

They would go missing in the two seals then the dead zone would prove to be their morgue. Python created these barriers to make the dark colony a safe living place.

The seals were secured with the loyal troops and the hidden traps. The Book of Detection gave them golden clue because they perfectly destroyed second heart.

The tasks and the rewards were relevant based on their efforts and the way they tackle situations. The rewards were part of the game portal because the organizers were afraid of the learned spectators.

This was the reason that the second page was written in golden ink. "Hope this golden ink reduces our troubles. Now we are heading toward the opened gate. Our task is to collect shredded skin then burn." Junan reminded me out of habit.

He walked ahead of others to lead them. Jake was very glad because they were at the last colony ready to face the Python.. The task of the system was waiting for his action.
