In 1998, a popular Chinese drama took the public by storm. Oldies in their 70s to young ones in primary school were widely discussing the characters and storyline of the drama.

Shen Qingruo was also an avid fan of this drama.

Luo Shuyan watched the drama with her. Shen Qingruo often forgot to usher the young girl to do her homework. The two ladies took up two sides of the sofa as they watched the drama with complete focus. The female lead — Xiao Yanzi, was a beautiful woman who caused a great mayhem amongst the women in the Chinese harem.

Shen Yan walked out from his bedroom for some water and saw his mother and Luo Shuyan staring fixedly at the TV. He walked past them and blocked the TV momentarily, before being brutally told off —

“Shen Yan, move aside. Why are you standing there like a stick figurine?”

“Son, please move —”

Shen Yan uncontrollably shook his head. He had finished his homework and had done prior reading for his classes tomorrow. He figured that he needed a break, and for once, he sat down with them to watch the show.

The channels receivable by the TV was limited. Thus, dramas like this that were interesting and funny were widely loved by most.

The next day, after school, Luo Shuyan and Shen Yan walked home together. Before they got off school compounds, Luo Shuyan’s deskmate, Ye Xin, joined them.

Ye Xin was scared of Shen Yan and Shen Yan didn’t really want to talk to her either. Thus, the two of them didn’t speak to each other.

Ye Xin linked her arms with Luo Shuyan and continued to talk about the popular Chinese drama. “Luo Shuyan, do you like Wu A-ge or Er-Kang more? I don’t like Er-Kang, he’s too tan.

Who did Luo Shuyan like?

Can she say that she liked both of them?

Ye Xin continued to talk to herself, “Do you like Wu A-ge? Everyone likes him.”

Luo Shuyan didn’t think much before aggressively shaking her head. “I don’t like him, he follows people around like an idiot. He even got married and had kids with someone else!”

After she said that, she froze.

Ye Xin and Shen Yan were also stunned.

Ye Xin said, “What do you mean? He likes Xiao Yanzi.”

Luo Shuyan didn’t know why she would say such a thing. After all, they’d just aired him asking his mother about his marriage. It was a fact that Wu A-ge only liked Xiao Yanzi, so why would she say that Wu A-ge would marry someone else and have kids with them?

She fell into deep thought.

‘Did something like this happen in the novel I dreamt about? I don’t think so…’

Then, why would she say something like that? Has she seen this drama in her past life and knew that this would happen?

When they walked to their housing area, Shen Yan noticed that Luo Shuyan seemed to be in a dilemma. He tugged on the stuffed toy keychain she had on her bag and said, “Look where you’re going. What are you thinking about?”

Luo Shuyan looked annoyed. “I was thinking why I would immediately assume that Wu A-ge would marry someone else and have kids with them.

Shen Yan was baffled. “He’s A-ge*, it would be abnormal for him to not have children, no?”

*T/N: Wu A-ge is also known as Yongqi, and he’s a Manchu prince and fifth son of Emperor Qianlong. The Chinese drama is “My Fair Princess”.

“But, but…” Luo Shuyan continued.

After that, she thought, ‘Eh, is Shen Yan talking about a historical drama with me?’’ She promptly forgot about Wu A-ge, and excitedly asked, “What about you? Do you prefer Xiao Yanzi or Xia Ziwei?”

Shen Yan was speechless. Could he say that he didn’t like either?

One was crazy and the other loved to cry.

“If you don’t answer me, I am going to assume that you like Wet-Nurse Rong.”

He was in regret. He shouldn’t have ignored Luo Shuyan.

Song Wanqing found out that Qin Yutong had bought a coat for Luo Shuyan.

The Song family had wide connections in Ning City, so it was super easy for Song Wanqing to hire a few people to keep an eye on Qin Yutong.

Song Wanqing wanted to cause trouble.

She wasn’t particularly attached to Luo Tianyuan anymore, after all, she knew that the man wasn’t open to the idea of marriage. It was clear that he had no intention of pursuing a relationship with her, so it would only do her more harm than good to continue to pursue him.

She knew that men were usually in the wrong when it came to infidelity. However, she didn’t want to get revenge on Luo Tianyuan. Instead, she wanted to make the woman who stole Luo Tianyuan suffer.

After she found out about Qin Yutong’s gift to Luo Tianyuan’s daughter, it confirmed her beliefs — Qin Yutong was a scheming and cunning lady.

Song Wanqing didn’t really like Luo Shuyan, but she definitely didn’t hate the child. After all, who would hate a young child for no reason. However, she was a young woman who’s never been a mother, so there was no way she’d be too fond of someone else’s child.

Nevertheless, she’d never thought of manipulating the child to achieve her goals. Her motives were simple; there was a clear line between the matters of adults and children.

It felt weird for her to take advantage of a child.

Qin Yutong was being too much. How could she make use of Luo Shuyan to obtain favor from Luo Tianyuan. Song Wanqing despised what the woman was doing.
