She was still young. Even if she wanted to get married, it would be in a few years time. Since her parents weren’t asking for her to get married yet, she figured that she should properly enjoy her time and have a beautiful love life. Based on Luo Tianyuan’s personality, she was sure that he would be understanding when her time was up and she had to marry someone else.

After she figured this out, she couldn’t wait to see Luo Tianyuan again.

“Tianyuan, my friend gave me two tickets to the movies. It’s for the Titanic. Shall we go to the theater later?”

She skipped past the unnecessary greetings. She spoke as if they’d just gone on a date the day before and they didn’t go through a period of separation.

She was too happy, and since she was also being flirtatious, her voice was a little too loud.

Luo Tianyuan didn’t invite her into his house. He thought about his daughter who was still sleeping before taking his keys that were on the shoe rack. He closed the door and solemnly said, “Shuyan is sleeping. Let’s talk outside.”

Song Wanqing didn’t avoid his physical contact. She could smell his manly musk and her heartbeat rapidly increased.

She looked down at the two movie tickets. She shyly replied. “Mn, sure.”

The two of them walked down the narrow stairway one after another. When they were outside, Luo Tianyuan stood under the sun streetlamp before halting in his steps. “Wanqing, I’m sorry, I can’t go to the movies with you tonight, perhaps you should ask someone else.”

Song Wanqing, who had been blushing a moment earlier, froze on the spot. She rarely encountered rejection, even Luo Tianyuan himself had never said no to her. She didn’t know how to react.

By the time she came to her senses, she figured that Luo Tianyuan was angry with her. “Tianyuan, are you angry? I’m sorry, I’ve been busy with family issues so I didn’t contact you. See, I ‘m here to see you as soon as I am free.”

Luo Tianyuan shook his head, tired. “I’m not angry, Shuyan went through something traumatic two days ago, so I’ve been staying at home with her.”

Song Wanqing felt awkward when she heard him talking about his daughter.

She was an unmarried woman who’d never had children of her own, she rarely interacted with young children. Before Luo Tianyuan had said anything, her impression of the young girl was that she was cute and beautiful, and wasn’t as annoying as other young children. However, after Luo Tianyuan stated that he’d never get married, Song Wanqing’s feelings were conflicted whenever she thought about Luo Shuyan.

It was clear that it didn’t make sense for a grown woman to be jealous over a young child, however, she still felt envious. Today, even when she walked past a bakery on her way here, she didn’t want to buy a piece of cake for Luo Shuyan.

She was willing to bet that Luo Shuyan was the reason why her father wasn’t willing to get be fair, there wasn’t anything morally wrong with his decision as a father. Nevertheless, when Song Wanqing realized that she wasn’t the person he loved and prioritized the most, she was unhappy.

When people were in a relationship, who wouldn’t hope to be the person their significant other loved the most? To be “No. 1” in their boyfriend’s heart? Who would be willing to settle for being “No.2”?

Song Wanqing was spoiled rotten by her family from a young age, and had never faced rejection. She couldn’t take it anymore and said, “This is a rare chance for us to watch a movie together. Aren’t you paying your neighbor to take care of her? Why can’t you get her to take care of your daughter for a moment?”

Luo Tianyuan remained silent for a moment. “Qingruo has her own child to take care of, and I want to stay at home with my daughter.”

Instantly, Song Wanqing was fuming.

She had already gone the extra mile to approach him, and yet she faced rejection after rejection.

“You aren’t a doctor, it’s not like you can do anything if you stay by her side.”

Actually, she regretted it as soon as she said that. She knew that she wasn’t wrong; Luo Tianyuan wasn’t a doctor, so why should he accompany his daughter? And a movie would only take 2 hours, so it wasn’t like the child was in such a bad situation that she needed an adult by her side constantly, was she?

Despite that, she knew that even if she wasn’t wrong, it wasn’t exactly appropriate for her to talk like that…

Luo Tianyuan looked at her quietly. He was expressionless, entirely different from his usual gentle demeanor. His eyes looked distant and far away.

He didn’t say anything and he didn’t look angry either, but Song Wanqing couldn’t bring herself to talk.

Luo Tianyun knew that this wasn’t Song Wanqing’s fault.

It was just that she wasn’t a mother yet, and Shuyan wasn’t her biological daughter.

Yet, in the depths of his heart, he felt lucky because he hadn’t taken his relationship with Song Wanqing to another level. If not, if they were to get together, based on Song Wanqing’s personality, something bad was bound to happen.

Shen Yan had overheard everything. He’d gone down to take out the trash and he wasn’t purposely eavesdropping.

He felt angry.

‘Uncle Luo is Luo Shuyan’s father, he is the only relative she hs left on this earth. Is he not supposed to stay by her side when she is not well?’

He could recognize this woman’s voice. She was the rude lady who visited their house some time ago!

Shen Yan expressionlessly walked out of the corridor with the rubbish bag in hand. When he walked past Song Wanqing, he purposely shouted, “Step aside, step aside, there’s poop in here.”

Song Wanqing immediately gave way. Her mind must have been playing tricks on her because she could even smell a foul smell coming from it.

She was in heels, so she almost slipped and fell when she tried to avoid him.

When Shen Yan walked past them, he looked apathetic, he didn’t look at her or Luo Tianyuan.
