The Male Lead's Childhood Friend

I took a quick shower after mother left my room. After that I looked into my closet and choose what to wear for today.

I was looking at the clothes hanging inside my closet. All are designer clothes that I love to buy. But now that I am in the architecture department, I usually wear simple clothes that won't constrict my movements.

I chose a cream colored Versace round neck long sleeved top and Lee slim jeans to pair. For my shoes I chose my favorite Skechers because it so comfy to walk in. After I put my clothes on, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw my simple yet elegant face. I opted for a light make up and pink lipstick. I dried my hair and let the long waves just freely flow on my back.

I skipped down the stairs feeling excited to see my girlfriends again after a long time. When I walked in the dining room I see father sitting at the head of the table with a cup of coffee in one hand while the other was holding his iPad. He was probably reading his emails. Mother was sitting in her usual seat. Sitting in the seat beside my usual seat was my so called 'cousin' Shiki. He was wearing a normal black shirt and denim jeans.

'Even though he wears simple clothes, he can't hide his godly good looks.' I sighed internally.

I sat on my usual seat. "Good morning, mother, father, Shiki." I greeted them.

"Good morning darling." Father replied.

"Come let's start breakfast." Mother said.

Shiki just nodded in reply to my greeting.

'Will it kill you if you at least smile after my greeting?' I scolded Shiki inwardly and sighed.

After knowing Shiki for a year, I at least have a bit of an understanding with his nonchalant mood. He was seldom to smile and looked rather cold towards others. But inside I know he is a caring person.

"Where are you going today?" Father asked while we were eating.

"I still have to finalize my enrollment in campus so I am going there right after breakfast." I replied. "And after that I plan to spend the day with Krista and Geraldine."

"Oh that's nice." Mother said. "I am sure you have missed your girlfriends."

"Oh I remembered that Shiki is also going to your campus." Father said. "He still hasn't gotten an license yet here in our country so why not give him a lift."

"You are enrolling in out university?" I looked curiously at Shiki.

"Hahaha, of course not dear. He has already graduated and he was at the top of his batch." Mother replied. "And he just got his master's degree in business management."

"An MBM?!" I asked in surprise. I looked at my mother and Shiki alternately.

In Paris he was a fine arts student, now he has a MBM degree. Gods can really make any persona they wish to.

"Shiki will be teaching in your university this semester." Father said. "I have offered him one of the top positions in our company that fits his criteria but he politely refused."

"I am just starting and I want to start at the bottom like the rest." Shiki replied nonchalantly. "And also I want to try teaching first and share my knowledge with the students."

"That's fine. But my offer is always open. Just tell me if you get tired of teaching then my company is always open for you." Father said. "Well if ever Ana here choses you as her husband, then you will really have to work in my company, hahaha."

"Daaaddd…" I scolded him. I was still embarrassed hearing about the husband selection.

"That is really admirable of Shiki, wanting to be a college professor first." Mother said. "If I have known better, I would think you just want to be close with our Ana here." She giggled.

I felt embarrassed with my parents teasing me continuously. I hurriedly ate my breakfast to escape from their constant teasing.

"I am done." I stood up after finishing my food. "I will be waiting for you at the garage Shiki." I said and quickly escaped.

I walked back to my room to get my bag and directly went to the garage after. I took the keys to my car that was hanging in the key rack. It has been a long time since I have driven my car. In the past, Jeremy has always been driving me to and from school. But from now own I will be driving myself to my destinations, I am an independent woman.

Fortunately my car is well managed by my father's personal driver. 'I have to get him something as a thank you for taking care of my car.' I thought.

I pressed the unlick button on my key and the white Saab 9-3 convertible sounded to life. I didn't notice that someone was leaning by the passenger door of my car. When I looked I saw Shiki standing beside my car with his hands folded. He was wearing a gray coat over his black shirt and denim jeans. He looked like a gorgeous model taking pictorials for my car's brand.

"S-Shiki, you surprised me." I said. "How long have you been here? How did you know that this one is my car?" I asked.

My father loves cars and so he bought cars that caught his eye. With a lot of cars parked in the garage, how can he know what is mine?

"Not long." Shiki only answered my first question. As to the other, I will just let my imagination go wild. He is a death god after all.

"So, are you ready?" I asked.

"Sure." Shiki got in the passenger side while I take the wheel.

I drive out to the road and towards my campus as the destination.

"So, a college professor?" I started a conversation.

"I need to stay close to you, always." Shiki replied.

I know what he really meant by his words but I can't help but blush. It was like he was saying it as a lover. I quickly shook my head inwardly purging such thoughts in my mind.

"But why as a professor in the business department?" I asked curiously.

"Well, I want to bully someone." Shiki said. I took a glimpse at him when we were stopped in front of a red light and I saw him smirk.

"Don't tell me you are going to bully Jeremy?" I asked in surprise.

But really I am not that surprised. I had a feeling Shiki had something running thru his mind after what happened with Jeremy last night. He has a target on his eyes and he was set to bully him as he likes.

"But before that, can we please focus on our first mission." I sighed. I stepped on the gas pedal when the green light lit.

"Of course. The girl Geraldine, she is one of your closest friends right?" Shiki said.

"Yes." I replied.

"Christopher is also enrolled in your university and he will have subjects under me." Shiki said. "Being close to them is also beneficial."

"So that's why you became a professor." I realized.

"Of course I can use a different persona if we need to get close with other persons in the mission, but I am sticking with the 'cousin' persona as my official persona while I am here." Shiki said. "But of course I will be only here to help and guide you. You will still be the one to do the labor."

"I understand." I replied.

I felt a little sad hearing Shiki say 'while I am here'. I know that after all this missions are done, he will go back to where was supposed to be while doing his job as a death god.
