It was unexpected that she would make an offer to spend the night together. Louis gently furrowed his eyebrows as she walked away. His long sword dragged on the floor.

She was like that back then, too.

She gave him unforgettable memories even three years ago.

‘Even though you were so bold.’

Louis stepped closer to the woman who was the only color in this black place.

The woman’s golden eyes quivered violently. Long, flickering eyelashes underneath the surface were full only of him. Louis felt a strong sense of satisfaction towards the woman in front of his eyes.

A few weeks ago. The woman’s proposal to spend the night with him was of little interest to him. But, strangely, it was tempting. For the first time, he took a different route than before.

The novelty that appeared in his boring daily life was confusing but was not bad at the same time.

‘It’s fascinating to see you flapping and exploring the room with energy.’

So, the time they spent together was longer than expected.

He hesitated whether or not to keep this fun a little longer, but it finally came to an end.

“Anyone who enters this mansion will not leave alive.”

Louis tapped the assassins lying on the floor in a bored, monotonous voice.

Will you be the first?

Or will you also walk the same fate as them?

Louis fixed his gaze on the woman and put a languid smile on his lips.

So.

“Tell me, Julie.”

Louis, who raised the corners of his mouth, leaned his head down slowly.

His deep, dark pupils gazed at Juliana as if they were tightening around her. The distance was so close that their foreheads touched. His black hair tickled Juliana’s forehead.

“Do you still want to get out of here?”

The man with his red lips rolled up smiled leisurely. The dim moonlight fell on the two of them.

“……”

After a long silence as if time had stopped, Louis’ smile slowly disappeared from his lips.

“…Julie, are you crying?”

A woman with her face contorted was crying.

Why?

“Why are you crying?”

Louis asked with a dumbfounded face as if she had lost a screw. It was like being hit in the head with a hammer.

Louis hardened at his first encounter with such a situation.

She looked so sweet with her tears dripping down her face.

“……”

***

She herself didn’t understand why her chest was throbbing.

Juliana couldn’t breathe.

Louis was the lunatic. When she realized that, her head went blank. Her hands and feet trembled in shock, and her heart pounded.

‘Nonsense…….’

The two people who seemed to have no similarities at all turned out to be the same person…… Juliana took a deep breath while holding her head. She closed her eyes in this unbelievable situation.

No, to be precise, she sometimes had doubts. She just did not want to believe it. Juliana wanted to treat all of this as a nightmare she would soon wake up from.

However.

‘Hurts…….’

She felt a sharp pain as her nails dug into her palms. It hurts. She felt pain.

This was not a dream.

‘How…….’

Juliana clenched her fists and chewed the inside of her cheek.

Why did he lie about his identity?

In a situation where it was not enough for her to get angry, swear bitterly, and ask questions.

“Julie, are you crying?”

Why were her tears flowing?

Unknowingly, her tears flowed down, and Juliana was confused.

“Why are you crying, Julie?”

Her ears were deaf, and Louis’ voice was muffled. Juliana staggered and placed her hand against the cold brick.

Thankfully, his absurd words stopped her tears. She looked at Louis but her vision was blurry as if he was obscured by a hazy mist.

“Why are you crying, Julie?”

But the man’s voice clearly reached her ears. There was no sarcasm or ridicule in the low-pitched voice. He asked quietly because he really didn’t know better. At first glance, he seemed to be seeking advice.

“S-Say.”

Juliana gasped at the lack of oxygen and stepped back from him. She worried that her fast-beating heart and the smell of burning rubber might make her breathing more difficult.

‘Wait, it smells like rubber?’

The smell of burning rubber from somewhere brushed the tip of her nose. Juliana hurriedly rubbed her eyes and scanned her surroundings. The room was suddenly filled with smoke.

The smell of burning was intensifying.

Juliana looked behind Louis and knew why.

The wallpaper was melting with the hot heat and flames that invaded in an instant.

“How…….”

Piyong piyong, an alarm rang in her head telling her to evacuate. Juliana stepped back from her physiological fear, and widened her distance from Louis.

‘We have to leave quickly.’

She rolled up the window on the other side. The current location is the 3rd floor of the mansion. If they jumped to a relatively low floor, they could avoid critical injuries. Down below, she could see people evacuating.

‘Should I teleport?’

Juliana quickly dismissed the idea of teleporting.

Teleportation was perceived by many as easy magic, but in reality, it was not.

Juliana, who had just regained her magic, had already consumed a significant amount of it. There were instances where one could fall to an unfamiliar place if a mistake was made.

More importantly, she has teleportation motion sickness that she couldn’t tell others.

The thought of her teleporting made her stomach turn upside down. She was going to tolerate that fear in order to be with Louis, but…

Now that she was in panic, it seemed impossible.

‘Still, I can’t delay any longer.’

Juliana quickly climbed out the window and stood on her feet. The gentle breeze blew through her hair. As soon as she breathed in the air, her hardened spirit returned little by little.

“Are you leaving, Julie?”

A low voice came from behind her. Instead of responding to the owner of the voice, Juliana slowly turned back and looked at him.

Black eyes met her gaze.

As the glances mixed in the air, neither side averted their gazes.

It seemed like an infinite amount of time had elapsed, enough for her to forget the seriousness of the situation for a moment. Louis also contemplated all these situations, as if appreciating them at first glance.

“……”

He slowly approached. As Louis, or the Empire’s lunatic, drew closer, her heart raced in a different way than before.

Juliana stepped back at her embarrassment.

“!”

One foot floated in the air. The other foot barely provided balance. If she hadn’t quickly grabbed the window handle tightly, her body would have fallen backwards. Juliana clasped the handle tightly.

“…Oh, you were scared.”

Louis’ monotonous, muffled voice pierced her ears.

He was watching Juliana with a relaxed attitude. Nodding his head repeatedly.

“Julie doesn’t like me either.”

The man, who asserted in a stern voice, slowly rolled up the corners of his mouth. His tone was light, but his expression was not.

“That’s why you cried like that, huh? Is that it?”

Louis looked at her with a somewhat twisted expression.

The indescribable sense of disparity engulfed her. Juliana was speechless at the feeling of the world she knew overturning.

“Are you afraid of me?”

Nevertheless.

‘Are my eyes hurt?’

Louis looked nervous.

‘Nonsense.’

He must have deceived her with that innocent face, concealed his identity, and must have made a joke about it, it was all an illusion!

Juliana was angry with herself.

The lunatic was right next to her. He was playing with her in the palm of his hand so there was no way she could have succeeded in her escape. The lunatic must have been one step ahead, contemplating all of this with his characteristic monotonous eyes.

When the thought touched Juliana, her anger rose.

“…Why did you do that?”

She grunted as she gritted her teeth and glared at him fiercely. Louis burst into laughter, and started to laugh at her.

“Is Julie avoiding me too?”

“…Louie…”

The crazed laughter gave Juliana chills.

Was now the right time for him to laugh?

The Grand Duke’s mansion was burning and crumbling down beyond recognition, and he himself was on the verge of being completely roasted by the hot fire.

But Louis, the party to all this, didn’t mind, and smiled brightly.

“Hahaha.”

Her head was spinning

Juliana’s heart beat faster as the flames drew closer.

Crash!

The crystal chandelier that hung from the ceiling fell. The chandelier narrowly fell right next to where Louis was standing. Glass shards splattered against the wall.

“For now… come here. Let’s get out of here first.”

Juliana hurriedly bent on one knee and held out her hand to him.

She hated him. It was true that she was angry.

However, she had no intention of leaving him alone, more so than letting the person in front of her die.

Once she saved him, she would question him.

So don’t just stand there like a fool.

“Come here quickly!”

Juliana exclaimed urgently. Louis just blinked his eyes, like a goldfish.

“Don’t cry, Julie.”

The madman raised the corners of his lips crookedly.

“Why did you do that?”

[T/N: Okay so I don’t know why but it has some parts that look like they are repeating, (there was another chapter like this too) but I’ll just leave them as is.]

***

Eyes that have lost their sense.

Louis’ eyes gleamed with a strange color. The emotion inside his eyes  was something Juliana was familiar with.

“Having another guy in my house.”

His black eyes, dotted with jealousy, turned to her. Juliana was stunned by the absurd situation when her nose was stuffy. She became so absent-minded that she couldn’t even think of correcting the misunderstanding.

“The other one is drooling and trying to get what’s mine… You want me to stay still?”

Although he did not clearly refer to anyone, she had naturally interpreted that he was talking about Al.

Suddenly, the man approaching Juliana slowly bowed his head.

“Sweet, even your tears are so sweet…”

“…Hic.”

There was saliva under Juliana’s eyes. Wet liquid touched the corners of her eyes.

Juliana was startled by the lips pressed down on the corner of her eye as if he was marking his territory. The lunatic put on a languid smile on his lips as he looked at Juliana’s expression.

“Julie’s tears are sweet.”

“……”

“Is this… why I can’t get over you?”

His eyes, as he spat out in a low voice, showed his possessive desire towards Juliana without filter, as he carried Juliana away. She blankly stared into his black eyes. There was a golden light in the black eyes.
