Chapter 99 Early Game Boss

Despite Bucky’s metaphor being vulgar, if Leo remained unresponsive again, then this metaphor might be too apt.

Coincidentally, Leo already had the intention to eliminate Kingpin and replied, “According to the information I have, Kingpin is Wilson Fisk, that fat pig. He’s the Chairman of Fisk Industries from Queens. Bucky, as you’ve said, we can’t let others ride and s*it on our necks. And, this Kingpin dares to touch our interests, we need to eliminate him.”

“Oh, so it’s that fatty. He even has a company in plain sight. Tsk, tsk, so he is the one who controls New York City’s underground. Don’t worry Leo, from tomorrow onward, I’ll start monitoring his movement and formulate a sure-kill assassination plan.”

Bucky wasn’t concerned about the news, so he didn’t recognize Wilson Fisk’s name and treated Fisk as an ordinary mob boss contemptuously.

However, Matt was familiar with Fisk’s name and reputation. Regardless of how Matt viewed it, he couldn’t relate to Fisk and Kingpin being the same person.

Wilson Fisk’s reputable image among the citizens of New York City involuntarily emerged in Matt’s mind. Matt couldn’t resist asking, “Mr. Erwin, are you sure you’re not mistaken? As far as I know, Mr. Fisk has a great public image, how can he be the rumored King of Underground, Kingpin?”

“That’s exactly why Kingpin is brilliant or else, why do the FBI and others can’t unearth Kingpin’s true identity? You should know, the one who despises Kingpin the most isn’t us but the US Federal Government. Without a positive cover, how do you expect Kingpin to live so well?” Explaining the reason to Matt, Leo also reminded him how dangerous Kingpin was.

At this moment, Bucky interjected, “Matt, you don’t have to worry about this. Just take care of your injuries. Kid, your weakness is too fatal, you’re almost get done by one of the Kingpin’s minions. After you recover, you must train harder to overcome your weakness soon. Regarding Kingpin’s matter, just leave it to Leo and me. Now your weakness has been exposed, you’re just sending your head to the guillotine if you follow us!”

Although Matt was downhearted, he knew his weakness was evident and Bucky’s words were the truth. This made Matt unable to defend himself.

Leo was also concerned about Matt’s weakness. After some consideration, he stated, “Matt, after you recover, cooperate with me for some test. Maybe I can think of a way to solve your weakness.”

Leo was preparing to test Matt’s reaction to various loudness and frequency of noises. He intended to build a noise-filtering device for Matt, attempting to resolve Matt’s weakness.

“Sure!” Hearing the enigmatic Leo proactively helping him, Matt was over the moon and immediately agreed.

A car was moving along the empty street of Hell’s Kitchen. It was neither fast nor slow, after three more blocks and it would be reaching its destination.

Out of the blue, a white unidentified object fell from the sky, dangling in front of the car Bucky was driving.

Calmly braking the car and spinning the steering wheel, Bucky drifted right in front of the white unidentified object, steadily stopping the car.

Matt’s ears slightly twitched and heard moans and groans coming from the white object. He instantly knew what it was but was unable to determine the overall situation, so he questioned confusedly, “Left side of us is Bullseye, sounds like he was heavily injured. But, what’s going on?”

Presently, Leo also clearly saw the dangling white unidentified object, it was a person encased in a white silky cocoon.

The person was encased tightly and immobilized, revealing part of his bald head and face. One could vaguely see the Bullsye’s signature target-shaped scar on his forehead.

What was hanging Bullseye was a long and finger-thick strand.

At the end of the strand was a web-shaped object stuck onto the building’s wall.

Twitching his mouth, Leo sighed at Bullseye’s misfortune! 

Bullseye intended to infiltrate El Tech Building to steal technologies but ultimately was treated like an early game boss, being beaten horribly by El Tech Company’s super people.

This kind of luck was once in a lifetime!

In the end, it was Spidey, Peter Parker who undoubtedly got the last kill.

As predicted, a fake raspy voice appeared above Leo and the others. Peter shouted, “Hey, buddy, I think you lost something! I was taking a walk and picked it up, and I returned it to you now.”

The moment he spoke that, with a ‘shoosh’, Peter in his suit descended from the sky with a spider web, firmly hanging upside down next to Bullseye.

Bullseye struggled to wake up and opened one of his half-exposed eyes. Seeing the hanging upside-down Spider-man, he was about to yell in panic but a shot of webs smacked onto his face, forcing him back to sleep.

Stretching out his finger, Peter kindly poked two holes in Bullseye’s nostrils, preventing him from suffocating.

Matt had a general understanding of the situation from his hearing. With a click of his tongue, he turned his face to the other side and shut his eyes, visibly disliking Peter’s acting cool.

Leo ignored Matt and exited the car, followed by Bucky 

“What’s that thing?!” Before Bucky was a person akin to a huge spider hanging upside down and he subconsciously asked Leo. Then, he believed Leo also was uncertain so he asked Peter, “Who are you? Why are you here?”

“I’m Spider-man, don’t you recognize me?!”

Peter was slightly puzzled as he pointed at Bullseye, “I’m here to announce lost and found in person, is this something you lost?”

Peter was convinced everyone in New York City knew who he was, after all, he was constantly on the headlines of news and TV programs. But unbeknownst to him, Bucky had just arrived in New York not long ago and hadn’t had a habit of reading the news or watching TV.

Looking at Bucky’s stump face, Leo hurriedly said, “Bucky, I know him. He’s a vigilante just like Daredevil, he’s not our enemy. Besides, the person next to him is Bullseye, the one who escaped after beating Matt.”

“Which means this is something you lost? Catch, I will return it back to you!” Peter hurled Bullseye, sending him toward Bucky which was firmly caught by Bucky one-handedly. Peter added, “The web will dissolve by itself after three hours. Make sure not to lose it again. Since the lost item has been returned, I’ll leave first. I’m busy, so don’t look for me.”

“Hey, Spider-man. Wait for a bit, I’ve something to tell you.” Leo called out to Peter before telling Bucky in a low voice, “Bring Bullseye back first and remember to tie him tightly. Clean Matt’s wound while you at it, I’ll look for you later.”

Listening to Leo’s tone, Bucky guessed Leo knew Spider-man’s identity. Without asking much, he followed Leo’s instruction and dumped Bullseye into the trunk. Then, he started the car before driving Matt back home.

After Bucky left, Leo spoke to Spider-man on the rooftop, “Peter, come down from the roof first.”

“Mr. Erwin, you really know who I am!” Peter’s voice returned from the fake raspy voice to his original voice. Jumping down and landing next to Leo, he asked confusedly, “How did you know about it?”

“I heard it from Matt, as for how Matt knew, I don’t know. You can ask him yourself and he doesn’t care about the fight both of you had several years ago. So, you can’t be petty and make a fuss about it in the future.”

Peter evidently wouldn’t ask how Matt recognized him himself since he figured he probably accidentally revealed some opening!

As for the reconciliation matter Leo mentioned, Peter nodded albeit unwillingly. Soon, he curiously examined the mechanical suit on Leo’s body, “Mr. Erwin, what are you wearing? Don’t these huge chunks of metal feel heavy?”

Leo answered Peter with a question instead, “How about you remove your mask first, doesn’t it feel stuffy?”

Peter did as he was told and removed the mask. Sweats had soaked his hair while he questioned as if discovering a new continent, “Mr. Erwin, you’re wearing a mask too, right? Don’t you feel stuffy?”
