Chapter 229 Genius?

TL: Kyous

“Bucky, Bucky, can you hear me?”

In the dimly lit laboratory, Leo exerted his Mechanical Force to open the communication device inside his helmet and spoke softly, attempting to contact Bucky. But the communication channel remained silent with no response from Bucky.

“Bucky?”

“Bucky?”

Trying to call out in a hushed tone again, he still received no reply from Bucky.

He wasn’t particularly worried about Bucky encountering any mishaps. After all, Bucky was an experienced reconnaissance soldier and was hard to detect when he shrank down in size.

Since Leo couldn’t reach Bucky, he naturally suspected that there was an issue with the communication device itself. The device’s manufacturing technology was something he had secretly learned from S.H.I.E.L.D. and it was currently one of the most advanced communication devices in the world, excluding Wakanda.

Although it appeared to be the size of an earbud, its true size was roughly the size of a desk.

Thanks to the wondrous technology of Pym Particles, Leo was able to shrink the communication device down to fit inside his helmet.

Theoretically, a stable connection between two devices could be maintained over a distance of three hundred kilometers or more.

Since Wakanda’s shielded area was only 10,000 square kilometers and roughly circular in shape, it was well within the coverage range of the communication device.

However, it was also a fact that Leo couldn’t contact Bucky. So, he found a corner of the lab that he was certain were the surveillance cameras’ blindspots and he quietly returned to his normal size. Then, he removed the communication device from his helmet.

The earbud-sized device was placed in his palm, and using the Pym Particles, its enlargement function was activated.

Leo felt a sudden weight in his hand as the device grew into the size of a basketball.

At this moment, a small control panel on the communicator became visible, showing a tiny line of words that read “Connection Lost”. Sure enough, he had lost the signal from Bucky’s communicator.

Afterward, he had a suspicion in his mind that he couldn’t connect with Bucky’s communicator because he was deep within the Vibranium mine!

The Vibranium had bonded with the rock, blocking the signal, which was why Bucky wasn’t responding to his calls.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but sigh. He had tested the communicator in a deserted forest and there were no issues with a stable connection within a range of three hundred kilometers. But now, he was dealing with mystical Vibranium and he was powerless about it!

Therefore, the priority now was to get out of the mine before trying to contact Bucky again. Presumably, Bucky was just as anxious as Leo because of the failed communication.

Time was of the essence, so Leo shrank the communicator and himself down to ant size and flew out of the lab, carefully navigating the hallways to avoid detection.

Despite spending over nine hours in the research facility, he was still unfamiliar with its layout and didn’t even know the entrance was located. Thus, he opted to retrace his steps and fly out of the same mining pit that he entered in the morning, although it was a slightly longer route.

It was already past 9 p.m. but the scientists had unusual schedules and often found inspiration during late-night hours. Besides, due to various factors such as lunar gravity and noise interference, some experiments could only be conducted at night.

So, there were still quite a few scientists wearing white lab coats inside the lab, even more than in the morning. Especially when Leo passed by a break room, there were more than twenty of them either in lab coats or casual clothes, chatting and drinking coffee, making a rather lively scene.

But these had nothing to do with Leo, the most important thing now was to quickly contact Bucky and have a meal together.

Leo was already very starving.

Furthermore, it wasn’t fair for Leo, as the boss, to let Bucky go hungry and even spend the night in a valley during their fieldwork.

Soon, he passed through the security door and made several turns, arriving at the lab where the “Holographic Simulation Workbench” was located.

Originally, he intended to quickly pass through the lab and drill out through the crack he had slipped in earlier, but a small figure inside the lab, who was earnestly working hard, made him pause for a moment.

The young princess Shuri, with her braid in pigtails, still stood on the little stool, fully focusing on the projection of the aircraft model. Her small hands pulled and twisted, busy and joyful.

Compared to what Leo saw more than three hours ago, the aircraft model had indeed been improved greatly. In his eyes, the aircraft was almost designed to perfection by Princess Shuri.

One could reckon that the young girl only ate something simple and immediately return to the lab to continue her hard work. And she wasn’t alone in the lab currently, but the others didn’t seem surprised at her diligence. It seemed that Princess Shuri was accustomed to studying hard until late at night, and everyone was used to it.

No wonder Princess Shuri was such a genius. At a young age, she designed the sonic stabilizers for the Vibranium transport track, as well as the nanotech Black Panther suit and other high-tech inventions.

It was all related to her hard work since childhood. Indeed, as the saying goes, genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

Leo smiled to himself as he watched the young Shuri, who was currently working hard, just like he had been a few hours earlier when he was diligently studying the new knowledge of mechanics.

The concentrated expression on Shuri’s face was almost identical to Leo’s.

No, Leo was probably even more handsome!

Because a man who is focused and serious is the most attractive.

After delaying for just a moment, Leo slipped out of the crack and entered the “Starry Sky” of the Vibranium mine.

Here, he no longer restricted his speed as he had in the research facility. He rapidly flew to another mine, then soared into the sky, flying out of the circular with a diameter of over thirty meters.

Today’s Wakanda was enjoying a beautiful day, and coincidentally, a full moon was hanging high in the sky. The moonlight shone through the protective shield, illuminating the ground of Wakanda with a breathtaking glow.

Although the scenery was marvelous, Leo only glanced at it briefly before using his Mechanical Force to press the talk button on the communicator and softly called out, “Bucky, Bucky, it’s me. Can you hear me?”

At first, there was a slight noise coming from the other end of the communicator. Right after, Bucky’s voice, slightly surprised and concerned, came through, “It’s Bucky, I can hear you, Leo. Where have you been? Are you alright?”

“Everything is fine. I went to a place where the signal was blocked.” Leo explained before asking, “Where are you right now?”

“I’m at the bushes where we split off this morning,” Bucky replied. Initially, he was worried the communicator might have a problem, so he had been painstakingly waiting there for five hours but couldn’t see any traces of Leo.

“Okay, stay right there. I’ll fly over and find you.” Leo said immediately.
