Chapter 207 Brainwash Success

TL: Kyous

Several bright ceiling lights were on simultaneously, illuminating the basement as if it were daylight. Leo and Bucky stood in the basement, each with four or five faint shadows under their feet.

Scanning the basement, Bucky asked with confusion, “Leo, what’s the big plan that you need my help with?”

Leo didn’t answer immediately as he also scanned the basement. Waving his hand towards Bucky, he said, “Move aside first.”

Puzzledly walking two steps to the right, Bucky cleared enough space. Leo slid his right hand to his waist and threw a small cub. When it landed, it had transformed into a two-meter-tall Capsule Cell. Under Bucky’s confused gaze, he opened the cell door, revealing Ulysses curled up in the corner of the Capsule Cell.

Ulysses had been in the Capsule Cell and, without any reference points, was unaware of the process of being shrunk and enlarged.

However, he felt two sudden suffocating moments and sensed that the strange metal box occasionally rolled around. Feeling extremely uncomfortable in there, he was forced to curl up his body.

Suddenly, the door of the box opened, and bright light drove away the darkness inside, painfully stabbing Ulysses’ eyes. He instinctively raised his arm to shield his eyes and then, slowly lowered it, feeling disoriented. As his eyes adjusted to the light, his pupils gradually focused, and he finally saw everything in front of him.

Due to the metal box, his field of vision was limited and he could only see two people standing outside the box. One of them he recognized as the one who captured him, the enigmatic and powerful Leo Erwin. The other person he didn’t recognize, but his gleaming metal left arm was incredibly eye-catching.

At this point, Bucky was no longer surprised by Leo’s sudden appearance of magical gadgets. Crossing his arms, he asked, “Leo, who’s this?”

“This man is Ulysses. He used to be Erik’s father’s partner. He went nuts this afternoon and kidnapped Erik. I caught him and brought Erik back.” Leo briefly explained.

Bucky furrowed his brows and asked, “Is Erik okay?”

Leo gave him a reassuring look and said, “He’s fine. He’s already back at school attending his classes.”

Slowly nodding, Bucky’s gaze toward Ulysses was now filled with hostility.

Sensing Bucky’s animosity, Ulysses stood up from the tiny prison and took a couple of steps forward, wearing a smile on his face as he approached Leo. “Mr. Erwin, all of this is a misunderstanding. I didn’t intend to kidnap Erik. His father and I were friends, and you and his father were friends too. So we can consider ourselves friends as well. It’s all a misunderstanding.”

“Heh, that’s not what you said in the car earlier,” Leo retorted with a sardonic grin. “I wouldn’t dare to make friends with someone like you. I mean, who the hell are you?”

The smile on Ulysses’ face froze. He squeezed out another smile and said, “That’s a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding.” He said as he surveyed the surroundings, realizing he wasn’t on the road anymore. Judging from the room layout, it looked like a basement but the furnishings made it resemble more like a lab. In particular, the strange chair in the middle of the room, covered in wires and reflecting a metallic sheen, was particularly eerie.

Besides, his former henchman and temporary driver, Mark, was nowhere to be seen. Coupled with Leo’s unfriendly tone and Bucky’s hostility, Ulysses felt uneasy and his mind raced as he tried to speak diplomatically, hoping to find a way to stay alive.

“Mr. Erwin, I admit that taking Erik without informing you beforehand was my mistake. I apologize and I’m willing to compensate for it. I’m not sure what I can do for you now, but please let me know.”

But Leo didn’t want to waste time with him and said directly to Bucky, “Bucky, you’re in charge of interrogating him and making sure he spills every last detail he knows.”

Bucky immediately understood what Leo meant and shook off his previous bored and lazy demeanor from the living room. He said with a mischievous grin, “Don’t worry, I’m a professional in interrogating.”

Smirking, Bucky approached Ulysses. Ulysses’ sense of impending doom grew stronger by the moment. His fear at this moment was even greater than when Leo had held a Hummingbird at his head.

As a result, Ulysses’ survival instincts kicked in once again. As a lone wolf, he was used to fending for himself, and even if he didn’t carry any weapons on him, he was determined to tear his opponent apart with his fingernails and teeth if necessary.

However, his enemy this time was Bucky…

Taking a step forward, Ulysses launched a punch at Bucky’s chest with all his might. Bucky didn’t even try to dodge and took the punch head-on without flinching. But to Ulysses, it felt like he wasn’t punching a person at all, but a solid metal plate instead.

Regardless, Ulysses was someone who lived a life of bloodshed. Although he was stunned, his body’s reaction wasn’t slow.

As his punch failed, he immediately retracted his punch and swiftly kicked toward Bucky’s groin. As it is a weak spot for all males, Bucky, despite being a Super Soldier, didn’t dare to take Ulysses’ strike on his manhood head-on.

So, he jumped back, slightly pressed his left hand, blocking Ulysses’ leg and grabbing at his ankle at the same time, lifting him up. Ulysses appeared to be a sturdy man, not short in height, and weighing at least eighty kilograms. Nonetheless, Ulysses was lifted up by him as if lifting a chick.

At first, Ulysses resisted but after a few shakes from Bucky, he instantly subdued Ulysses, leaving Ulysses powerless to resist.

Throughout the whole process, Leo had been watching, observing as Bucky subdued Ulysses, as Ulysses was interrogated and resisted, and as Bucky finally forced Ulysses onto one of the brainwashing devices that he had modified.

The brainwashing process was time-consuming, usually taking four to five hours and he couldn’t afford to be delayed.

Fortunately, Bucky was very bored recently, so he was pleased to have something to pass the time. And so, Leo flew back to Erwin Research Center to continue working, leaving Bucky to guard the place.

Time flew by quickly and it was already evening.

Leo was working at Erwin Research Center when he received a call from Bucky and he flew back home straight away.

In the basement, Ulysses was no longer the same lively person he was in the car earlier, nor did he have the ferocity he displayed when he first fought Bucky in the basement. He sat in a chair with a vacant look in his eyes, lost in thought.

“All done?” Leo asked as he took off the armor.

Bucky was in the process of shutting off the power to the brainwashing device one by one. He casually replied, “The brainwashing was a success, and the keywords are all set. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”

Looking around, Leo found out that besides the chair of the brainwashing device, there wasn’t any place to sit in the basement.

He shook his head slightly and took out a lounge chair from his Storage Belt using the Forwarding Box. He sat comfortably across from Ulysses.

Bucky also leaned in and saw how much Leo was enjoying himself. He innocently pointed at the lounge chair and then at the empty space on the ground beneath him.

Speechless, Leo gave in and handed him a Forwarding Box. Bucky’s face lit up with a smile as he eagerly opened the box and pulled out an identical lounge chair to Leo’s. Facing Ulysses Klaue, they sat side by side, ready to interrogate him.
