Chapter 19 Change of Heart

Hearing that the Winter Soldier could be used in the night, Sinthea finally behaves seriously.

Dr. Zola looked at Sinthea, Leo, and Katr who had gradually returned back to normal, only to explain the Lightweight Power Arm Type VI in detail. 

Lightweight Power Arm Type VI was the name Leo gave for the blueprints but Dr. Zola called it Half Body Armor instead. “Miss Sinthea, this is the Half Body Armor blueprint, a type of weapon Leo and I have designed. By equipping this Half Body Armor, an elite soldier can hold his ground against a Super Soldier. Furthermore, if Half Body Armor can be successfully produced, its destructive power is not weaker than a Super Soldier’s.”

Sinthea became excited when she heard Dr. Zola’s explanation. She looked at the blueprint and nodded, “Although I don’t understand it, it looks impressive! Based on your words, can we make a Super Soldier through the Half Body Armor?”

“It’s close to what you said but Half Body Armor had just been designed. It will take some time to achieve mass production. Moreover, our agents require sufficient training before being able to skillfully operate the Half Body Armor.”

“All of these are not an issue. As long as the Half Body Armor can strengthen our forces, you can experiment with ease. I will be waiting for your good news.”, Sinthea was overjoyed as she praised Dr. Zola and Leo.

Afterward, she said to Katr, “Agent Katr, is there any good news from your side?”

Katr hastily stood up and respectfully said, “Leader, I also have good news.”

Sinthea rested her chin on her hand and lazily stretched her body. She made an “I’m all ears” look. This made Katr gulp as he said, “I have two important pieces of news. First, according to your order, we successfully planted some spies on Nick Fury’s side. They are prepared to monitor his movement anytime. Second, our men from S.H.I.E.L.D. reported back on 16th December, that Howard Stark will secretly bring the manufactured serum to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret base in New York for human trials. To avoid any suspicions, Stark will act like he is going on a vacation and will not bring any bodyguards with him. At that time, it will be our best chance to take the Super Soldier serum.”

“Only the manufactured Super Soldier serum, no formula?”, Dr. Zola curiously asked as he had researched the formula for decades and was extremely concerned about it.

“Stark refuses to tell S.H.I.EL.D. the formula, only agreeing on making soldiers for them. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been established for a long time. Thus, Stark needs to protect his own interest. We fought for the serum formula but failed.”

Dr. Zola, Leo, and Katr did it as well.

“We will end it here for today, dismiss! I’ll make arrangements for detailed tasks.”

Sinthea impatiently ended the meeting and said, “I will wake up the Winter Soldier first! The mission five days later cannot have any mistakes. I will make sure he is fully prepared for the upcoming day and arrange tasks for him properly.”

Sinthea hastened her footsteps as she cannot wait to go to the basement cold storage after finishing her words.

Time flew passed quickly, a few days had passed in a blink of an eye.

On the night of 15th December 1991.

Boston, H.Y.D.R.A. base, second basement level, Leo’s laboratory. 

Due to Dr. Zola being busy with the manufacturing and mass production of Half Body Armor recently. The maintenance work of the Winter Soldier’s mechanical arm before carrying out a mission fell on Leo’s responsibility.

As per usual, Leo ordered him to sit down and he skillfully detached his mechanical arm. After connecting the mechanical to the newly adjusted instrument for testing, Leo played with the signal emitter on his hand and fell into deep thought.

After thinking for some time, he decided to not wake up Bucky’s main consciousness tonight.

The reason was tomorrow the Winter Soldier will carry out an important mission in the history of the Marvel Universe. If Howard Stark did not die, perhaps Iron Man may not even exist.

Since Leo still did not have enough strength to protect himself, he decided not to rashly change the course of the history of the Marvel Universe.

Leo simply found a chair and sat in front of the expressionless Bucky while looking at his handsome face and fell in thought.

In actuality, after arriving at this new base, Leo had many chances to escape.

But the issue with Howard Stark gave him concern. If Leo saved Bucky, then the Marvel Universe storyline will be messed up by him. The story in “Captain America: Civil War” would have changed. Many things unknown to Leo would change as well.

This type of butterfly effect will lead to a lot of uncertainty, in the worst case the destruction of Earth and billions of life would perish.

Leo in his previous life lived in a lawful society, not to mention billions of lives, he never even thought to injure someone before. After being suddenly transmigrated to this world, for the sake of protecting his own life. Leo’s attitude changed greatly. He learned to protect his own benefits.
