Chapter 147 Spider-man Arrives

TL: Kyous

Everyone was stunned by Doc Ock’s destructiveness, but no one noticed every grab and every pierce from Doc Ock was aimed at a green humanoid monster.

At the current point, Norman only appeared humanoid but his appearance and limbs no longer resembled a human’s. His ears were pointy like an elf’s, his eyes were emitting a green glow in the night, and his nails were long and abnormally sharp. Moreover, instead of walking with two legs, he was maneuvering on all fours.

However, he was still capable of speech and was still conversing with Otto, “Otto! Give up! You can’t hit me!”

He chortled, “Although I couldn’t cure my genetic defects for the past decade, it doesn’t mean I achieved nothing. I was fortunate enough to come across S.H.I.E.L.D. You may not know what S.H.I.E.L.D. is, but I’m sure you know the story of Captain America. The legendary Captain America is presumed to be the result of this group’s experiment.”

Yet Doc Ock ignored Norman. Remaining silent, he continued attacking Norman with his tentacles, intending to finish Norman off.

Every time, Norman managed to skillfully avoid the attack just in time. He dodged while exclaiming, “The object that grants Captain America his power is a magical serum, but the serum’s formula has disappeared. S.H.I.E.L.D. has been trying to recover it ever since. My research project was appreciated by the top brass from S.H.I.E.L.D. and eventually, we reached an agreement. We attempt to realize Super Soldier through the perspective of genetic hybridization. And the result I achieved, as you can see, is what I am now!”

Norman’s green face was glistening with a halo of pride. “While this thing still has its flaws and requires further improvement, dealing against you is a piece of cake once I transformed! Your tentacles won’t reach me! Instead, I’ll be the one who’s attacking you!”

The monsterized Norman bellowed out strange laughter. Jumping up, he charged right onto Doc Ock. Doc Ock controlled one of the tentacles and struck, landing squarely onto Norman’s body.

But Norman’s palms suddenly morphed into a suction cup and latched onto the tentacles. Then, he swiftly crawled toward Doc Ock’s main body. On the other hand, Doc Ock behaved like a precise machine, his other tentacles struck at the tentacles latched by Norman.

Norman had to give up on the intention of crawling along the tentacle. He abruptly bounced up and was about to land on the ground, preparing for the next attack. However, his reactions were within Doc Ock’s calculation as one of the tentacles had been prowling around. Utilizing his vulnerability in midair, the tentacle widened its claws and bit toward him.

If this attack landed successfully, Norman would be ripped in half for certain.

Just as Norman was unable to avoid it in time, he spread open his arm all of a sudden. Between his back and arms, a layer of green membrane appeared. Capturing the wind, his body momentarily halted and barely dodged Norman’s killing strike.

Nonetheless, it was a desperate attempt. Although Norman avoided it, his right hand was still bitten by the tentacle and three of his fingers were bitten off.

Despite Norman having the appearance of a monster, his blood was still red. Half of his hand was malformed and fresh blood sprayed all over the ground instantly. It was a gruesome scene.

“ARGH!”

Crying out a miserable shriek, Norman crashed onto the wrecked rooftop with his left hand clenching his right hand. The odd thing was, as he cried, the fresh blood gushing out from his right hand stopped instantly. Furthermore, a thick green liquid began flowing out from the wound. On closer inspection, the flesh on the wound was growing at a speed visible to the naked eye. Norman’s body unexpectedly possessed a high-speed regeneration ability.

On the ground floor, three black sedans suddenly arrived at the scene. A dozen of people got off the vehicles, it was precisely the agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘s New York Branch.

The leader swiftly examined the rooftop and the surroundings and immediately located the NYPD officer in charge. Flashing his identifications, the leader hurriedly instructed the cops to instantly evacuate all the people within a kilometer radius.

The group of cops still didn’t realize the gravity of the issue and thought the four-limbed monster wouldn’t leave the rooftop. On the other hand, the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. who often deal with high-risk or unusual events were deeply aware of the possible damage this unidentified monster would cause.

One kilometer radius was a conservative estimation. If possible, evacuating the entire of New York City was better. But it was the middle of the night and hastily evacuating every citizen was out of the question. Besides, the leader also didn’t have the authority to do so. Thus, he could only evacuate everyone within a kilometer radius and the rest was up to heaven to decide.

NYPD officers cooperated with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, beginning to evacuate the civilians. After a while, most of the nearby area was cleared off.

Seeing the time had matured, the group of agents began taking out a wide range of either common or uncommon weapons from the vehicles. Two of the agents speedily rode the elevator to a faraway rooftop with sniper rifles in hand while the others orderly moved towards the upper floors.

On the rooftop, one was pounding the ground while the other was dodging, akin to a game of whack-a-mole. Nevertheless, the rooftop was unable to withstand their tussle. The twelve-floor building became a ten-floor.

Meanwhile, Spider-man who had departed from Manhattan early on finally arrived. The instant Peter reached the scene, he instantly recognized Doc Ock. After all, he and Otto had been inside the same lab for a long time. And Otto’s helmet only covered half of the face, naturally, Peter could tell.

Witnessing the effortlessly fluttering tentacles on Otto’s back, he knew exactly where Otto’s powerful equipment originated.

Intracranial Transmission Technology contained a huge flaw. This, Peter, had personally experienced before and knew better than anyone else. So, he couldn’t understand why Otto would suddenly wear this piece of equipment! Otto even promised him that he wouldn’t use this technology recklessly!

Breaking out a cold sweat, he knew he had to stop Otto right away and forcefully removed this piece of equipment. Hanging onto this thought, he swung from the rooftop of the neighboring building and landed on the ruined building.

“Who do we have here? Isn’t this New York City’s friendly neighborhood Spider-man?! I wonder why you are here?” The transformed Norman was slightly unhinged. Seeing Peter arrive, he spouted out sentences filled with provocation.

Peter had also noticed this greenish man, but the current Green Goblin was completely different from Norman. He failed to recognize who this monster was. Regardless, Dr. Octavius was fighting with this monster, which meant this monster wasn’t any good guy either. Perhaps it was this monster who forced Doc to wear the Intracranial Transmission Helmet.

Facing the monster’s provocation, Peter disregarded it and pondered silently. Right now, he was attempting to help Otto to take off the helmet, but the monster was trying to kill Otto. For the sake of Otto’s safety, he decided to help Otto to deal with this monster first. Then, everything would be safer.

Without wasting any extra second, Peter launched a shot of webs onto Green Goblin. Green Goblin dodged it casually and even provocatively bared his fangs against Peter.

Figuring the speed of webs was no match against Green Goblin, he immediately dashed forward, preparing to engage in close combat with Green Goblin.

As he was catching with Green Goblin, Doc Ock’s tentacles, as if unable to differentiate friends and foes, stabbed right at him. He was forced to avoid it but resulted in Green Goblin pulled the distance away.

Concurrently, Doc Ock had lost his rationality. Facing both Spider-man and Green Goblin, he would attack whoever was closer to him. Evidently, the chips had greatly affected Otto, leading him to lose the most basic judgment capability.

Doc Ock had fallen into a frenzied state. Green Goblin’s mental state was derailed after the transformation. Spider-man was here to save people. Hence, all three of them had no intention of escaping and descended into a chaotic fight, tangling with each other.

At the same time, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents on the lower floor had secretly sneaked up.
