Chapter 117 Drizzle and Explosion

TL: Kyous

The constitution of a perfect Super Soldier Physique is the definition of strong.

Regardless, Leo believed when compared to Bucky, the recovery speed of his inferior version of Super Soldier Physique was severely lacking. In just ten minutes, Bucky was able to bounce and hop around. Excluding his unusable right arm, all of his body parts were more or less healed.

Without being said, the among he ate was certainly plenty. With a rough calculation, it was at least the size of an entire cow.

Seeing Bucky had plentiful rest, Leo was prepared to kill a way out with him. From some unknown spots in the room, Bucky managed to find an assault rifle and help it with his metal arm. He was prepared for more massacres.

Pfft!

Web dissolvents were being shot out of Viper’s palm as the webs sealing the main door were swiftly losing their toughness.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Before the minions standing by out the door could react, Bucky sprayed dozens of bullets at the webs. In an instant, the people outside were caught off guard and screamed in misery.

Leo and Bucky used this opening to charge out of the room. While Leo was dashing towards the crowd, Bucky had tossed away the emptied assault rifle in his hand. Swiftly, he picked up an AK-47 from the ground and pulled its trigger.

“Sh*t! Why is this gun not working?!”

Leo wrapped an unlucky man with webs before hurling him over the crowd, sending the crowd tumbling like bowling pins. Without turning around, he yelled, “Don’t pick up the guns on the ground. Pick the one that is just being held.”

Bucky finally picked up a usable gun and started raining bullets. Leo, in Viper, acted as a meat shield blocking the bullets in the front while Bucky with his accurate aim was firing bullets at the back. In a matter of seconds, half of the Kingpin’s minions had been wiped out. The ground had been blanketed by tons of burly men in white tank tops with a touch of red.

“I’ll go to the main control room and delete the footage. I’ll leave the rest to you.”

Bucky nodded and Leo headed to the main control room. In this age, civilian security technology was still very low-end. Leo easily deleted every security footage and shut down every camera within the club.

Meanwhile, Bucky also finished dealing with Kingpin’s minion. “Leo, I’ve just set the first floor on fire, let’s leave now.”

Burning after killing, everything was done smoothly. This showed Bucky’s determined stance against the mobs. It was uncertain what Kingpin had placed in the Rowing Club as the fire speedily grew bigger and bigger.

The duo stormed out of S’Neil Hall and realized it was drizzling outside. All of a sudden, a thunderous explosion reverberated from S’Neil Hall.

Leo cursed internally, ‘Kingpin actually hid explosives here?!’

But a real man doesn’t look at an explosion!

As the scale of the explosion was still small, the duo relied on the illumination from the blazing fire to quickly leave the Rowing Club.

Running along 127th Avenue, they were prepared to retreat with the car they came. However, as the beads of rain covered the glass on Viper’s helmet, it affected Leo’s vision, and unable to see the road clearly. So, he ran behind Bucky.

Thus, Leo found another small shortcoming of the Viper, secretly noting it down and preparing to fix it when he returned.

Bucky led Leo to the spot where they parked the car. Wiping his face with his metal arm, Bucky gazed at the empty 127th Avenue and was speechless, “This… Where’s our car?!”

“Probably some punk stole it. After all, we didn’t take the car key when we left!”

Since the car had gone, Leo didn’t dwell on it as well. “Don’t worry about the car first, Bucky. Let’s leave first. Here’s not a slum, like Hell’s Kitchen, an explosion this flashy definitely will attract the cops soon. I’ve sent a message to Red Fist, he will drive to us soon.”

Bucky nodded as the duo rapidly dug into the alley on 127th Avenue and disappeared.

……

Rewinding the time back a bit.

In the dark night, the sea breeze was blowing. The already gloomy sky gradually started letting out small drops of water.

On the northern coast of the Rowing Club, four figures were gathered together and talking in low voices.

“Signal for rescue success has been sent, let’s retreat in haste.” Matt released his finger on the modified communicator and placed it back onto his waist.

The rain started to fall from the sky. Fine echoes reverberated from the water splashing against the ground. This kind of weather was Matt’s favorite weather as the rain sound provided him a 360-view. It was akin to the entire world shining brightly for him.

Right now, he didn’t need his stick to guide him to see the surroundings clearly. Therefore, he headed towards the small alley first while calling the other three to follow.

Heather was the most obedient one. She followed along docilely while hugging her shoulder with her head lowered. Peter hurriedly pulled Mary Jane and followed as well.

After leaving the Rowing Club, Mary Jane wasn’t worried speaking loudly would attract attention. Following Peter, she couldn’t resist asking, “Spider-man, how did you and Daredevil my friend and I were captured by bad guys? Do you have a secret messaging channel among the superheroes?”

Mary Jane felt she might have unearthed a huge secret! These heroes weren’t lone warriors, but a team or organization of justice might be supporting them. This guess caused her as a journalist and a keen digger of secrets to shiver in excitement.

“Nope!” Peter knew speaking too much might cause a slip, hence a direct word to reject Mary Jane.

However, this caused Mary Jane to be even more curious. In her mind, an image of a secret superhero organization was formed. Within the organization, everyone had a designated job and cooperated with each other.

Since Peter didn’t admit to it, it was bad for Mary Jane to ask repeatedly. She could only guess roughly while seeking an answer carefully.

For example, having a closer relationship with Spider-man…

“Spider-man, can I have a picture with you together later? I’m a big fan of yours. You are literally a hero for New York citizens.”

“Sure.” This time Peter didn’t reject it as pedestrians occasionally would want to take pictures with him.

Encouraged by Peter’s acceptance, Mary Jane asked a series of questions.

“Can I have your contact information?”

“No.”

“Then, can I have dinner with you?”

“Also no.”

“Then, can I write a story about today’s event, with a photo of us together, and publish it in the newspaper?”

“This, also no.”

……

Never once did Mary Jane’s mouth stop as she continued talking. She was constantly bombarding Peter with questions as if wanting to have an interview with him. It almost caused Peter to crumble down.

Peter helplessly said, “Please stop asking questions! This place is too dangerous. As Daredevil said, we need to retreat in haste.”

At this moment, Heather, who was hurrying along with Matt also spoke up and persuaded, “Mary, I think Spider-man is right. We need to move quickly.”

Heather hugged her shoulder even tighter. Nudging her mouth, she stared at Mary Jane’s shirt, “The rain is getting heavier. We need to leave this dangerous place fast and find a safe spot to hide from the rain.”

Mary Jane followed along with Heather’s gaze and saw her tight working outfit was drenched with water, gradually exposing the outline of her figure. Her face immediately reddened as hurriedly imitated Heather, hugging her chest. “Let’s go, hurry up. The rain is getting heavier. We should find a car and leave.”
