The Legend Of Dragon Land

Chapter 40 - The First Glory

At the same time, on the ground –

Angus slammed his hand to the ground, shouted: "Great Fire Whip!"

A giant fire whip swung about toward the sea of flame created by Drake. This whip was about two meters in width and more than twenty meters in length. In addition to the ten times size of the whip Hawley had performed yesterday, this whip had another difference: It was blue and red mixed together, from afar it looked like a giant strand of rope being braided from two color blue and red, very similar to the fireball Angus used earlier.

The moment the whip smashed down from above, it instantly cut along Drake's sea of flame into two halves. The head of the whip was about to hit Drake. Drake was still using his internal power to control the "Great Blaze", suddenly the flame was cut through, making him suffer a counteraction, just then the whip head was about to fall on his head. Being besieged in risk, Drake reacted very quickly. He quickly took some long steps back, successfully escaped from the head whip attack. At that position, his body was staggering a little, then he spouted a sip of blood – this was a counteraction result when his "Great Blaze" was cut off by Angus.

On the other side, Angus continued to raise his hand, sweeping the whole fire whip to the right. The giant red and blue fire whip like a whirlwind swept across half of the sea of fire, then smashed into the wall surrounding the arena ground, open the path for Angus.

Boom!!!

The foot of the wall exploded.

At the same time, Angus glided through the ashes falling from the fireballs shot down by the fire arrows, approaching Drake. Drake, who had just recovered from his senses, felt his throat was grabbed by a hand. Then a light flared up his face.

That light was from... a blue fire ball!

On Angus' right hand, a blue fire ball dotted with a few bright orange-yellow sparks outside. It was as big as a basketball, illuminated the faces of the two teenagers in each other's eyes.

Angus looked straight at Drake, his right hand swung again, the blue fire ball flew straight to a corner of the wall surrounding the arena ground. Subconsciously Drake's gaze followed the movement of blue fire ball, what he saw was the fire ball hit the wall, then immediately exploded, creating a large hole on the wall. Drake turned to look at Angus, seeing what existing the eyes full of intimidation was the burning blue color which could burn out his soul.

The result was clear –

"I... admit defeat." Drake closed his eyes, hiding the terror at the bottom of his eyes.

Angus released his hand from Drake, taking a step back.

The intense pressure suddenly withdrew, Drake felt like he had just risen from the dead. His stiff body was suddenly loosed, Drake staggered to realize how exhausted he was. But he could not fall down. This was his last remaining dignity.

The dust and smoke gradually cleared, and now everyone could see the situation of the wall surrounding the arena.

At the foot of the wall, a groove which was half a meter deep had appeared on it, still dotted with some blue flames. This was the result when the fire whip hit the wall and exploded. And yet, the position of the wall that was hit by Angus' blue fire ball was pierced with a deep hole more than two meters in diameter. Similarly to the wall foot, here the blue flames had not yet disappeared but continued to smolderingly burning, the blue sparks were still aggressively swallowing concrete.

Everyone could not help but take a deep breath.

The concrete wall surrounding the arena ground was designed with some special materials to reduce damage from Fire, Water, and Lightning power during the competitions. Unexpectedly, Fire power of Angus could destroy the wall like that.

Fear mixed with curiosity gradually increased in everyone's heart.

That kind of blue and red fire – What was it???

On the arena ground, when Drake was about to fall down, a hand reached out into his view.

Drake looked at Angus in surprise: "You..."

Angus did not answer, nor did he take his hand back. He just calmly looked at Drake. The corners of his mouth were slightly curved, but this did not show any arrogance or disregard. It was merely a polite and friendly expression.

Drake hesitated a little. He did not hold out his hand but spoke up weakly: "May I ask you a question? Your Simulation... is it at level two?"

Angus did not hide: "No. My Simulation is just at level one. You cannot sense me, because my core energy was Fire, not Water."

Drake was stunned in some seconds: "That fire in blue..."

Angus nodded: "Yes. That is my mutated energy. I call it Blue Fire."

Drake's eyes widened, and he looked away from Angus, and whispered in his mouth, "Blue Fire? Is there really Blue Fire energy type in this world?"

Angus narrowed his eyes a little: "Yes or no, you've just experienced by yourself."

Seeming to remember something, Drake suddenly lifted his head, looking at the blue eyes and pale blue hair of Angus. Then he made a wry smile: "So that's how it is..." It turned out that the pale blue color that everyone based on to guess his strength did not represent for Water at all! They were all deceived right at the beginning!

But even if knowing Angus had Blue Fire power right at the beginning, could I win him? Drake asked himself.

This time Angus didn't respond to Drake's words but just looked down at his hand, gave Drake a signal.

A kind of embarrassed expression appeared on Drake's face. Probably because he had never done a handshake with anyone. He was hesitated for a little bit more before reaching out his hand and grabbed Angus' hand. Then, did not know who initiated, the applause simultaneously rang out on the stands, quickly spreading throughout the arena, accompanied by all types of sounds as cheers, compliments and congratulations. Every one presenting in the stands silently felt lucky to present there and see this classic final in person.

"Winner: Angus Farley, Leader of Class K, from Base Five."

In the roaring applause and cheers of the people of the capital, Angus Farley stood in the middle of the arena. His face was not calm as usual, he smiled slightly, in that smile lay the pride and confidence of a young dragon who had just reached his target. He stood strong and tall, his back was straight as a lance, receiving the very first glory of his life.

At the same time, the Hills village "Elderly Association" who were sitting around the seventy-five-inch flat-screen TV at Grandpa Hubert's house watching the match also exploded.

– Well, actually the Elderly Association grandparents did not get the habit of watching TV. But since they heard that Angus participated the Leader competition, they immediately rushed to downtown to buy a big TV and put it at Grandpa Hubert's house. Currently, the Aurora capital of Pacific already had curved-screen TVs and full-screen TVs. Meanwhile, the Hills village of Talus province was a "remote area", so those new product lines had not arrived yet. That's why they had to buy a flat-screen TV.

"Oh yeahhh! Little Angus made it!" – This is Grandpa Balwin.

"Before he went I had spent the whole day teaching him! Ha ha, he never disappoints me!!!" – This was Grandma Sienna.

"So good! Now I don't need to worry that he will be bullied at school any more!!" – This was Grandpa Tim.

"Huh! Stop kidding! Even if the kid was not the Grade Leader, he wouldn't let himself bullied by anyone!" – This was Grandma Vera.

"I know! It's just... sometimes I still worry a little bit..." – This was Grandpa Tim.

As Angus's official guardian, Mr. Hubert's expression was somewhat quieter and more concised: From the time the competition started until the result was announced, he never took his eyes off the television screen. His eyes were fixed on the blue-haired boy on the screen, the corners of his mouth visibly curved. The pair of pupils did not become blurry due to aging, but they were bright, shining, sparkling with a little water inside, showing the pride and emotion of the grandfather to his talented grandson.

Next, the procedure of awarding the Grade Leader badge would be conducted right at the arena ground. Beside that, in the next few days Angus would have to come to the Office of the Government to identify himself as the Grade Leader and receive the Grade Leader armband tattoo on his forearm.

The people of Education Ministry approached Mr. Keith and ask him to hand over Grade Leader badge to Angus. As a rule, the giving of the Grade Leader badge each year was done by either Mr. Keith or Mr. Raymond. The practice of making one of the two most powerful individuals of Pacific give Grade Leader badge to the winner not only represented for glory, but also represented for the expectation of the whole nation. Last year it was Mr. Raymond to give the badge, so this year it was Mr. Keith's turn.

Keith rarely appeared in the public.

The contemporaries of Keith included Commander-in-Chief Raymond, Principal Walter of the Military Academy, and Drake's father. All of them were the majestic soldiers who were trained and m.a.t.u.r.ed from the smoke and fire of wars in the past, however, if it was just about appearance, nobody could think that they were in the same generation.

The reason was – Ahem, did not know it was his innate gift or it was because he was the only one still single but... Mr. Keith looked much younger than the others!!!

He had a perfect body proportion just like it was sculptured: tall figure, broad shoulders, slim waist, long legs, handsome face, and the legendary white hair of the Glacier race. In addition to that, many years working in politics brought him a polite and courteous temperament. All of those made Keith always present in the top of the list of national idols. Unlike the actors, singers of showbiz whose influence was on young people only, Mr. Keith's influence extended from children, teenagers, to a.d.u.l.ts, middle-aged people, even the elderly, all of them recognized Mr. Keith as the national prince charming.

Currently, the national prince charming Keith D. Wilson was standing facing a blue haired teenboy whose back straight as a lance. The moment he handed the Grade Leader badge to Angus, Keith smiled and praised, "Well done! You earned it!"

Keith was not someone who often gave compliments to others, especially young people. In his impression, while the society was becoming more and more modern, young people were going backwards. Sometimes there might be some rare talents, but it was just that. Compared to the previous generation with numerous talents dozens of years ago, the current young generation also had some outstanding talents, but nonetheless it was just individual power. In terms of collective capacity, they were very poor. Maybe it was because of boring peaceful life, or it could be because of the envy and comparison between parents that young people formed the kind of distant, subjective personality, not trusting their peers, and taking bullying the weak ones for fun.

But as the head of Parliament, he couldn't help but care about the younger generation. He had to go to see these kinds of competition every year, then after each competition was a silent sigh in his heart.

But for this year's competition, from this young boy named Angus, he saw the hope.

The stronger of individual ability, the stronger the power of the senses. Sitting in the ranks of distinguished guests, who was not strong? So they all heard the whole conversation between Angus and Drake without missing a word.

Smart, careful, outstanding leadership ability, strong personal capacity, possessing two energy styles Fire - Water, accompanied by the a mutated energy Blue Fire with terrible destructive power. The word "genius" was not enough to describe this young boy.

The most important was his attitude: From the beginning to the end, he was very calm, neither conceited in victory nor discouraged by failure. This was the attitude of the real brilliants.

So, today Keith was generous to give Angus two compliments consecutive.

In return, Angus bowed slightly to Keith, giving a dignified reply: "Thank you."

Under the golden sunshine, the most courtesy man of Pacific made a gentle praising smile. Face to face, the blue-haired boy responded him with the most confident attitude.

This moment entered the camera, later on caused a storm on all kinds of social media during the consecutive weeks. But that was the story of a few days later. Currently, all of the focuses were still on Angus. Until he turned his back and went into the exit of the arena, all cameras still continued to follow his back.

The back of the new Grade Leader of Grade Forty Two.

***

Sitting in the stand, Alvin's gaze still followed Angus. Until Angus' back was very far away, Alvin still looked at the exit blankly.

Unlike the students from other classes or other people who just met Angus for the first time and had the looking down on attitude towards Angus, Alvin always knew that Angus was strong. It was not because of Angus' rank on the national rankings, nor because of the rumors, but simply just – intuition.

Perhaps it was because the two had exchanged their souls for each other in a long time, they all had the same experience of living in a completely strange place, Alvin always had a kind of feeling of close and understanding for Angus. So from the physical strength round to the team competition round, and then the individual power fights, even the semi-final against Hawley, Alvin was not surprised at every of Angus victory. This feeling could be described as: Well, it's not weird that he won, it's just weird when he lost! – Despite the fact that Alvin did not participate in the military course with Angus nor have any duel fight with Angus.

But now, for this match, he was completely surprised. He never expected that Angus was such strong and powerful like this.

If he was not mistaken, the moment Angus threw the fire whip and fireball into the wall, the whole stand was all terrified.

Yes. They were terrified of Angus' power.

Grandpa Silas once said that it was not necessary for him to participate the military course, but now looking at Angus like that, Alvin was a bit admired and envious. He spent nearly half a year for just some simple knowledge and experiments, while Angus used that half a year to enhance his strength in every aspect.

Alvin knew that Angus liked reading books very much – So now he silently made up his mind: Later on he would try to read books as much as possible to compensate for his knowledge. However, the boy did not know that... reading book was not an effective way of learning for him. After struggling in the library for three days in a row but not getting anything, Alvin finally accepted the truth.

But that was the story of future.
