The Lazy Villainess

I've always despised the male leads in light novels. They are always over powered, rich bastards that annoy me to no ends.

In 'Princess of Rui', Crown Prince Tian Mo was only a nice person to Wu Roqing, but killed anyone else without mercy.

'I have to avoid him at all costs' I decided, 'I don't care about dying myself, but I cannot allow anything to harm my family'

With that on my mind I decide to explore this new world that I'm in.

I'm walking down the well furnished hallway (the vases are made of real gold, I wonder how much they would sell for?) when I bump into a maid.

She realises that she bumped into me and she looks terrified. She quickly kneels on the floor.

"P-Please punish this servant, this servant didn't see mistress" she says, clearly distressed.

I don't get it, she only bumped into me, I was the one at fault.

Oh riiiight… Laing was very scary when she got angry, which was all the time.

'Ummm… it's okay, its fine' I said, trying to make her stand up 'Get up now…'

Poor thing, she looked like she was on the edge of having a breakdown.

Once I managed to get her to stand up, she did a full 90 degree bow and said "This servant thanks mistress for her mercy"

'Uh, it's all good...'

She scurried off as fast as she could and I'm left shaking my head at my luck. What did I ever do in my previous life to end up as a villainess in this life?

At the end of the hall were these massive ornate doors. I push them open only to walk on my entire family dining together.

As soon as I walked in, they stared at me and I recognised my mother and awkwardly walked over to sit next to her. Being the introverted weirdo I am, I avoided eye contact with everyone and didn't greet anyone.

Right now I'm going to focus on the food.

'…Waah...such good aroma…' I thought. I didn't recognise any of the food dishes, so I decided to eat a little bit of everything. I was going to dive in with my chopsticks when I heard a cough.

I looked up to see the man I recognised as my new father.

My first thought initially was daaaaaammmn, this guy is HOT. Too bad his my dad…seriously, Laing's father was really attractive for a middle aged dude with like four kids. I know this sounds incredibly wrong, but you have to remember, I was a 28 year old when I died. So I am mentally old enough to be attracted to him.

But then I remember that this guy dislikes Laing, and does not favour her in any way what so ever.

'Meh, who cares, he can hate me however he wants, I don't care' I thought. I just want to survive long enough to protect my mother.

I gave him a strained smile and went right back to eating.

Wow, I want to know who the cook is, this fish is delicious, and that meat is so tender. In my past life I basically survived off of cup noodles, instant ramen and coffee. I didn't have time to get myself a home cooked meal.

Now that I am in this life, I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible.

I finish eating and feeling satisfied, I rub my stomach. I look up and see that everyone is staring at me.

I smile at everyone and without letting them say anything, I atempt to escape to my room. Everyone is too shocked to do anything. Before I reach the door however I hear a bang as someone hit the table.

I freeze immediately as I hear a deep voice behind me say:

"Where do you think you are going?"

Damn it. Daddy dearest is at it again.

I straighten up and turn slowly to face him. He, my mother, the concubines and my siblings all have a questioning look on their faces as well. All of them except my mother have particularly hostile attitudes.

I clear my throat and say, 'I am not feeling well, so I am going to rest…'

"Then why did you come down to eat here then?"

'Uh… am I not allowed to?'

"You never ate with us before"

Oh right. I internally smack myself, how could I forget? In the novel, Laing thought she was better than her siblings and never ate at the same place as them.

'…'

I just stood there frozen, so my father sighed and gestured to show I was excused.

I ran for it, and almost ran into another maid. After saying sorry to her terrified face, I left for my room, leaving the maid extremely confused as to why her cruel mistress just said sorry to her.

I reach my room, after almost getting lost inside the huge manor.

In the novel, Laing was the eldest daughter, and second child after her brother. She craved attention from her father and did everything to please him. But after her younger brothers were born, he gave them more attention, which made her jealous and hate everyone.

She hated her mother for giving birth to them, and her father for loving them. But her mother treated her well nevertheless.

Ahh...this is giving me a headache. I need some fresh air. I can't go through the hall, my family is there, and that is the only way out.

I look around my room and there is the huge window.

'Perfect'

My room is on the first floor, so getting out is a piece of cake. I just climb over the window sill and drop drown on the grass. I think I'm in the back garden and there is a big wall around the house. To get out I'll need to go past guards.

'Hmm…what would the main character of a light novel do?' I think to myself.

Remembering all the light novels I ever read, it comes to me,

'Aha! I should dress up as a maid!' I think to myself.

'But where to get the dress?'

In big houses like these, there should be a room reserved for maids.

I sneak around a bit, and actually find the maid quarters without running into anyone.

'My luck is particularly good today' I think happily.

There are no maids in the house and I sneak in pretending I'm in a spy movie, because I'm weird like that.

Inside it is simply built, with shelves for the maid to keep their belongings in and beds for them to sleep in.

I rummage through the first shelf I see and spot a pale grey maid uniform and grab it. I go and quickly change into it and it is a bit big on me, but that will do.

No I wrap a piece of silk around my mouth to avoid being recognised and get myself a basket for good measure.

I stroll into the garden and head through the back gates and I am about to get out when a guard stops me.

I take back what I said about having good luck.
