Chapter 65 – Let’s take down the giant pseudo-mole!!
“The enemy is coming! Take position with the combat engineers in the center!”
“Magic gun unit, form a line!”
I suddenly hear a lot of noise and see a lot of movement coming from the dominion’s soldiers. Some drop the items they were using for measurements, and someone that looks to be a commander begins to shout instructions.
“Sending out transmuted beasts!”
The alchemists in front of me begin to activate scrolls, and transmuted beasts that resemble bears are summoned.
These bear transmuted beasts are pretty popular among alchemists in the army. They’re skillful with their hands and very powerful. But it looks like each person can only summon one.
I prepare my scrolls in case I need to jump in and help.
“It appears they will come from there!”
Everyone focuses their attention on where Ahri is pointing.
“Counting! Three, two…”
The earth begins to swell, forming what could be called a small mountain.
“Zero!”
Sand flies all over the place as if there had been an explosion, and dust fills the air. I can see a large shadow in the middle of the dust.
“Magic guns, fire!”
The commander’s instructions echo, and a volley of magic elements is fired from magic guns into the shadow.
“Impact confirmed! Effect, negligible!”
Yells a soldier that seems to be a spotter.
The dust settles, and what we see is what looks like just a giant mole.
“The ones we encountered before were a mixture of a lot of things, but this one doesn’t really seem to be mixed with anything, does it?”
I mumble as I look at the monster. Looking at it more closely, I can see a huge black mushroom in its forehead, almost like a hat. But everything else just looks like a mole.
“Ready the second volley! Fire!”
The giant pseudo-mole is hit with another volley of magic elements, and it’s scratched a little.
“Impact confirmed! Very little effect again! T-the enemy appears to be a colony type!”
“Colony type? Just more trouble.”
Concerned noises spread among the soldiers.
Apparently it’s not that it’s just a mole with little mixed in. It’s actually a very large number of regular sized moles huddled together and forming the shape of a giant mole.
I look at the surface of this monster more closely, and see moles taking the place of others that were shot down.
“Transmuted beasts, forward!”
The transmuted beast bears of the dominion’s army are set upon the giant pseudo-mole by the alchemists, but unfortunately, they are severely outmatched in terms of size. The claws of the transmuted bears carve away the moles on the surface, but they are quickly mowed down by the pseudo-mole’s giant arm.
“I think I can take it! You can leave it to me if you wish!”
I say to the person I think is their commander, because I don’t want us to suffer any more damage.
“Who are you!?”
The commander turns my way, and sees Seilook on my shoulder.
“It’s you! All right. Please do. Everyone, take some distance and remain alert!”
The soldiers fall back and leave an open space. In the center there is only the giant pseudo-mole looking down at me, and I can feel its intense hostility.
I slowly step forward while activating the scrolls I was preparing.
