Chapter 339 – Heart rate!
After exchanging information with Ahri, I quickly check her condition by activating multiple 『transcribe』 scrolls. They surround her and I start reading the information they provide.
Even at a glance, I can see that Ahri’s magic eye isn’t something that can simply be taken back.
I realize I have a grave look on my face, so I try to hold that back, and talk to Ahri with a lighter tone of voice.
“Ahri, you said something about a skill. Can you show me?”
“…Now? Here? I think it could be dangerous in such a confined space.”
“Yes. Is it strong? How about we go back a little and have it go forward? There’s a space I think will do nicely back there.”
“I want to see too.”
Says Roa quietly. It looks like she’s focusing on keeping watch, but I can see her peeking this way from time to time with a curious look on her face.
“No, we really should meet up with Lady Kalin as soon as possible, shouldn’t we Master Rust?”
Says Ahri with a very serious expression.
“What’s wrong Ahri? Your heart rate has gone up a little too.”
I ask, reading a change in her condition through the transcribe scrolls.
Her heart rate has gone up a little. It’s almost like something about this conversation is embarrassing to her.
“Master Rust.”
“Yes?”
“I think it would be polite to close those 『Transcribe』 scrolls while we talk.”
“Eh? Polite? Is that really…?”
“Master Rust.”
Ahri says my name again, and I can see her heart rate going down again. Her tone of voice gets lower too.
Roa quickly comes near me and pulls on my sleeve while slightly shaking her head.
“Ah, all right. I’m closing them.”
“Then let us go look for Lady Kalin.”
“But…”
“I know my body better than anyone else. And judging by your face earlier, I assume nothing can be done about my eye for the time being.”
She says while covering her eye with her hand, but I can see through her fingers that it’s full of determination.
Ahri turns around, and heads to the stairs that will take us out of the basement.
Roa and I look at each other, and she comes closer to whisper something to me.
“Master Rust, let’s not talk about that skill for now.”
She whispers before running to her sister. I’m not entirely convinced, but go after them too.
