The Commoner Consort: The Country's Respected Empress

Veronica gasps coming out from her shock "Are you saying the truth?".

'What if she is trying to trick me? How could anyone think of leaving after marrying into Royal? How could she even think of leaving My brother! My very own Brother! The Crown Prince of the country! And The Emperor to-be for God's sake! It would be impossible for even the Royal Princesses to leave this opportunity! How can she even dare to speak about being fearless?! Did she tell that she fears no one?! Was she mentioning My Brother?! To whom the world country shivers by his mere glance?! How audacious!'.

Maya smirks "You are not worthy enough to make me lie".

Veronica is almost fainted by anger. 

'Not worthy enough to lie?!'.

Maya walks out of the Empress Pavilion with an arrogant smirk on her face. 

'I never lie till I have to! What's the need of lying to her when she doesn't mean anything to me? Why would we lie when we doesn't care about them? Unless we care about their thoughts…We lie to not hurt someone we care... We lie to someone so that they would not be scared or worried about us. Fortunately, I have no one as that someone at this moment. It is really a great fortune that you have no one to care for. It will only make you vulnerable'.

She recalls Xavier and her arrogant smirk turned into a worried frown. What she thought was only known to her.

'With the drama she created today, I don't think she would be fine in the Royal Palace. Escort her back to the Pavilion'.

Xavier's ears were ringing with Kalki's previous words. He couldn't help get anxious as Xander would never leave clues without a proper reason. In fact, everything he predicts would be a result from his investigations and literally a serious warning sign. Xavier knows very well that Xander knows mostly everything and way better than anyone. 

He couldn't help get furious thinking 'How could someone dare to think of hurting her in our Royal Palace?!'.

A servant comes running and kneels "The Queen is in the Empress Pavilion, Your Highness! We found the servant who escorted Her Majesty there".

Even though Xavier felt relieved hearing the message, he couldn't feel relaxed too after hearing about Maya being in the Empress Pavilion… in the presence of Princess Veronica or his step-sister Veronica. He couldn't ease his mind thinking of Maya with Veronica.

'Last time she almost killed Lady Maya for a ridiculous reason!'.

He swears under his breath before walking towards the Empress Pavilion in hurry.

As he was walking out of Royal Palace, he stops seeing Maya walking out of the Empress Pavilion with a serious face.

THUD!

AH!

In next moment, Maya falls down tripping by her own long gown. She pouts irked 'I would never stop being clumsy! I love these dresses but it gets mad suddenly! Why should it always make me conscious about my steps? Should I wear that saree? * Cough* No... This is convinient than that saree for this winter! Who knows? I might freeze in that dress.. I wonder why I don't like coldness...'.

She stands immediately while engrossing herself in aimless random thoughts and dusts her dress as if it doesn't matter very much for her. Seeing her careless attitude, we can guess that she falls very often and is already accustomed to these. She continues walking again towards the Royal Palace to find someone to lead her back to Sarah. 

'I really feel vulnerable without that girl!'.

She is searching desperately for Sarah! Her saviour for now!

Before Xavier could speak or try to help her, he stood speechless while the whole scene was happening in front of him. He could help sigh in disbelief.

'Really?'.

He checks around him embarrassed as if he himself fell on ground instead of Maya and clears his throat awkwardly.

'It's fine as no one has seen her falling down...'.

He shakes his head with a faint smile 'Thank God she is not a Princess. They would have created a catastrophe for what just happened in front of me! It's weird to see a Queen Consort who is a simple commoner but definitely not awful...'.

With that thought, he walks with a playful smirk plastered on his face and asks "Are you alright, My Lady?".

Maya turns towards him while she was looking the other sides for finding her way back and shrugs "Why would I not be alright?".

Xavier asks seriously "Did something happen there?". He asks looking into her eyes as he well accustomed to her eyes which never lie.

Maya purses her lips in alert and creases her eyebrows 'Would he punish me, if I tell him what happened there and what did I do to his Sister? Maya... You are in trouble again..'.

Xavier's demeanour changes instantly and insists "Tell me what she did to you!-".

Maya gasps stunned "Huh?".

'What did she do to me?! Is he worrying about me?'.

Xavier is getting furious by Maya's dumb innocent expression. He misunderstands it for something else as if she is scared of Veronica. 

He insists looking her deeply "You don't have to fear her, My Lady. I would still stand by your side if she did anything wrong to you. So, tell me... Did she hurt you? I swear I would teach her a lesson for her immaturity this time! She can't harm her own family like this-".

Xavier stops at his flow of uncontrolled words which made Maya to be stunned.

Maya swallows her words and avoids Xavier's deep eyes. She lets out a deep breath which was holding subconsciously before and whispers "I do not fear her".

Xavier frowns confused as Maya is doing something really confusing. Her words and expressions are contrasting. She is saying that she doesn't fear Veronica but she is saying by avoiding his eyes.

Xavier asks with a frown "Why do you avoid my eyes then?".
